We tent camped here. We will be coming back. The campsites were well kept and the amenities were great. The fishing was also extremely fun for the kids and myself. We had fun in the sandy beach area and the kids didn't want to leave. The camp host was welcoming and helpful. This experience was a 5 out of 5 easily.

Hammocks strung and swaying in the breeze Ken and Joan have a real gem of space in their hands. We were a multi generational group back for our second stay at Harmony lake. In four years the grounds have changed a bit but the hospitality and land is world class. You won’t find a nicer set of hosts in the county.

This place is wonderful. It is my second time staying at Harmony Lake. The property is amazing. We had lots of fun playing on the beach, feeding the animals and enjoying the beautiful weather. The donkeys welcomed me as soon as I got to the camp. Loni and her WOOFERS, Daniel & Kamp were inviting and knowledgeable. From the lands history to the plants and their medicinable properties. It is a beautiful little place. The peacock is loud and the geese are really mean. it is a unique place to stay. I stayed there for a shower while working so I didn’t get to take in all the amenities but it looks like a lot of other people have a lot of fun there.

I highly recommend this as a fantastic opportunity to get off the grid for a while. John is very receptive to inquires within the app. As well as, when you get there, he will guide you what to do based on your wants and needs on the property. The property itself is amazing. You get a pond, a river, timber areas, farmland, plenty of hiking paths. The wildlife is almost overwhelming. From Coyotes in the distance, to owls up close. It is a hidden gem! Thank you John for the opportunity!

Loni and crew were so welcoming and friendly! We fell in love with our secluded little campsite and the farm animals! Walking through the forest was so calming and sarine. 11 nights at Wathena Riverfront Campground

I came up for another peaceful camping excursion at Laura’s place! It’s so quiet and peaceful! This time I was able to enjoy the amenities near the river. Several chairs and sitting areas, fire pits, etc. This place is just beautiful and I feel completely safe staying here. Laura is very quick to respond if needed. I will attempt to upload some photos.

Weekend Trip to Perdue Homestead Farm

We LOVED this spot! It was secluded. BEAUTIFUL view of a pond you can canoe or kayak on. We chose to kayak at sundown & it was absolutely breathtaking. If you want to take a step away from the hustle and bustle of the real world. Breathe & take in the beauty of quiet nature. This is the perfect spot for a getaway! When we arrived the owner happened to be home. She was very kind, personable, and had a guide to lead us back to our spot. Like they said make sure you have 4WD or park further up the path if it’s a rainy night. We made it out okay but if we took my car we would have gotten stuck. It was a great stay and we can’t wait to go back.

This campsite was more beautiful than I ever expected! I was greeted upon entry and guided back to the site. It was so clean and well kept, right next to the lake, and I woke up to so many bird sounds. Very serene and a great place to spend the night along my cross country road trip.

By Far the best camping 🏕 adventure so far ! The goats were so sweet , the dogs and the kittens were also a hit! The kids want to go there again before the end of summer. The host was so lovely as well!

Weekend Trip to Perdue Homestead Farm

Super friendly and welcoming, that’s the best midwest hospitality. Had great conversations with various residents of the property and they offered us help with moving firewood. Super safe with site behind house, ideal with livestock/guard dogs for safety if traveling alone or at-risk. Location itself is gorgeous, has flat ground for tent camping and big fire pit. There are ponds and lakes on the property and offers a nice walking/hiking option. All I recommend is being mindful the roads aren’t paved/gravel to the site. Drives are in good condition but important if in wet season or rain you have an appropriate vehicle. Ambiance of frogs, woodpecker and other birds, crickets, chickens… just beautiful nature sounds. Clear skies for stargazing as well, no worries of light pollution. Don’t buy firewood before coming! They do sell firewood on site (fantastic quantity, better deal than in store) as well as other farmstead goodies.

Then the Bunkhouse was established, it's just past the barn on the north end of the property. The lodge, where the Airbnb and pool are is centrally located on the land. We rent out the lower level guest quarters for non-campers. There are 2 stocked ponds, miles of trails, pool, Zen garden, farm animals and more. For diehard campers the beauty of primitive pack-in/pack-out camping of Freedom Field is a joy! Feel the energy of the sacred land. Find the vortexes here! Bless Mother Earth and spend some time in nature at this magical place Great for the spiritually minded with several meditation spots and portals. Kayak available but must use life vests. We are 15 minutes from Smithville lake boat ramp. We are limiting the 40 acres of timber to five groups of campers to provide privacy and seclusion for all. Topside RV/Camper Site includes the newly refurbished 28 ft. camper that sleeps 4 comfortably. The Hickory Forest RV/tent site has water and RV power hookups available. The lower level has three other tent camp sites available. WARNINGS! Hazards on our property include, but are not limited to: Biting insects, wild animals, dead fall trees (especially on the river bottom), slick and muddy approach to the river. Wathena Riverfront Campground

It is a private camping club which is made up of 10 waterfront acres along the main channel/current of the majestic Missouri River. It is about 2.5 miles SW of Wathena, KS and is bordered by Walnut creek to the south and a small creek just north of the boat ramp. We do not have staff on site on a scheduled basis. Campground and riverfont access is for registered guest only, there are no public facilities. Larger RV sites with electric only (30 amp camper plugs). The nearest RV dump station is at Love's Truck stop in St. Joseph 14 miles to the East. Each site has its own fire ring. You may bring your own wood or buy some at Casey's in Wathena. There is a hydrant near the elevated deck which is supplied with city water in case you need to fill jugs. Feel free to fish and enjoy shore fires along the banks of the Missouri River, but do so at your own risk and supervise minors at all times. Remember to bring your own fishing gear for an immersive experience by the water. Experience the tranquility of the riverfront and make the most of your stay. There is a fairly steep boat ramp past site 10. There are public boat ramps that are maintained in nearby Elwood, St. Joseph (near the Casino) and Atchison. This ramp can only be used by registered campground guest only and users assume all risk to themselves and property. The campground is at the original steamboat landing and downtown of the now ghost town of Palermo, KS. Nearby town of Wathena (2.5 miles) is the site of the beginning of the California Trail where settlers were let off at the river NE of town (area and trail is marked) and headed west. The Pony Express started at nearby St. Joseph, MO (9 miles) and passed through the area. It has a museum. Wathena has Star 36 Diner (breakfast, lunch and supper), the legendary Dairy Barn (ice cream and food options), VFW bar, quilting store.
