We have two private sites, a primitive campsite directly on the Lake of the Ozarks, and a RV spot with full hook-ups (water, 50 amp AC, and sewer). The two sites are separated from each other, but both have access to the lake, including kayaks, a canoe, a paddleboat, excellent fishing, a boat-ramp, floating dock and a one-mile perimeter nature/hiking trail.
*** NOTE *** From January until early May, the lake level is dropped about five (5) feet, so boating and fishing access range from difficult to impossible (though, arrowhead hunting is a fun activity you might enjoy during the low water months!).
Primative Campsite - A private 1.5 acre campsite with a firepit (and plenty of wood to burn in it) and direct access to the Lake of the Ozarks. Amenities and features of the campsite include: a private camp toilet with a door and a concrete pad, picnic table on a gravel pad with an umbrella, a fully equipped cornhole game, fishing pole holders, a garbage can, three (3) level wood tent platforms, and even a big swing set!

Soon the steep slope anchored a Yurt with a wrap-around deck that puts you up in the trees. Our gathering spot by the creek became a camp site. Recently the grandkids' Bunk House found its way in. Our Retreat is 10 acres, narrow, but 1/4 mile deep, stretching down a steep wooded slope to a creek - and up the other side to the top of a bluff. What started as a simple love of backyard chickens has now become a dream farm for Tracey Durant and her husband Theodore. Nestled in the valley between two forest covered hillsides, and running adjacent to Clearwater Creek on the east and the Lake on the south, D'Ranch could not have been a more perfect location for the Durant's to plant their roots and get their feet wet.
While they continue their love of backyard chickens with their small egg and hatchery operation, they have expanded their interests to an array of friendly farm animals including horses, milk cows, pigs, sheep, ducks, geese, and an occasional turkey or two. Narrative about Selby Farm:
Selbys have lived on this farm since 1990. Doug and Brenda are retired from teaching at nearby public schools. Our Farm is now dedicated to boarding retired horses for their owners.
We practice rotational grazing for the health of the horses and the health of our pastures. The horses live in a herd as they would in the wild. Basically, they are hanging out with their friends! They also get regular care and feed and so are VERY happy. You will see and probably interact with the horses if you wish. They are guaranteed to come closer if you have treats like carrots and apples slices.
Our quiet county road used to be the main road along the river. A hundred years ago it was called "Shanty Road". The shacks that were along it housed workers that harvested food from farms in the river bottom. The only evidence of those shacks now is perrenial flowers growing in unusual places. The area is inhabited by professionals working in nearby towns and cities. In fact there are only five homes along our 1.5 mile section of Copps Chapel Road.
The Missouri River is on the far side of the bottoms now, but has been very close historically. There is also a large spring flowing from a cave nearby. These river hills are composed of soils blown in from the end of the last ice age. Being near the river, erosion has cut down the surrounding area making the scenic topography associated with Missouri River valleys and river hills.

The Quiet Acre was the perfect little getaway for my friends and I!
We couldn’t have asked for better fall weather, and our time at this close, convenient and seculed HipCamp was filled with fresh air, beautiful surroundings, and lots of loud, boisterous laughter around the campfire. The site was clean and level as well as peaceful and private. There was plenty of firewood around the property to keep us gathered around the fire well into the evening both nights!
Just being north of Columbia, MO was also perfect for our weekend plans. We spent the day at nearby Finger Lakes State Park having a great time kayaking the water loop, then came back to the property to make dinner, relax around the campfire and enjoy the evening.
Our host, Kimberlee and her family were incredibly welcoming and helpful getting the site ready for out stay, and you can tell they genuinely care about creating a special place for their guests. Communication was excellent! I appreicate the water that they provided and the trash service. Hearing the wildlife in the background was spectacular. The host has chickens and some roosters that can be quite talkative at times but know how to be quiet when it's bedtime. We also met the most adorable cat.
We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend The Quiet Acre to anyone looking for a peaceful, private camping experience near Columbia.
After all the laughter coming from our campfire, I’m not sure we did our part to keep the “Quiet” in The Quiet Acre! 😊
The entire weekend was the ideal birthday celebration that overfilled my heart with joy. Despite losing my phone to the water and hitting a tree with my car, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

The two campsites are very well maintained and appointed. Our class B+ negotiated the roads and site without issue. Hobbit Hollow sits on a perch above the Big Piney. The electric, water, and sewer hookups we're convenient. As were the various bbq pits and smokers. A new restroom was installed next to an outdoor shower and several sinks. We watched deer, geese, and ducks as the sun set. The river bluffs are towering. Access to the river is a short walk, rivers do change. Caught several smallies. This is a very private and quiet camping spot. Kate was easy to communicate with. Firewood was available for purchase. Nice place.

This was a fantastic break from a long road trip. Arrived well before nightfall so arrival was easy and we had plenty of time to explore and hang out with the animals! Decided to stay a bit longer than anticipated the next morning because it was such a relaxing atmosphere. The spot is well kept and comfortable. We loved staying on the secluded peninsula! The spot was so relaxing, loved being on the water and not too close to other campers but an easy walk to the shower house if you need to. Easy check in, kayak around the lake was lovely. We did hike the red trail which was not as maintained as I would expect for a marked trail. Overall though a very lovely and relaxing stay.

Very Nice RV Campground! We were in #8; we decided to pull in (we have a motorhome) so we could enjoy the river / lake view in the AM! All was clean - bathrooms, grounds. This was our second trip to Crooked Creek! It was beautiful weather this time. Such a nice, private place to relax with the dogs and nature. It is very secluded but close enough to town that you can make the trip in if you need more ice or some such. We love crooked creek! Thank you to Ross for always being a great host.

We stayed on site 3 in a rooftop tent - if you’re planning on using an overland setup, I’d recommend this site specifically. 4x4 recommendation is also for real, would not recommend in a car. If you do, for sure stay to the sites on the water.

Beautiful little spot, directions were easy and I enjoyed exploring the property and talking to the animals. The goat did yell all night, but what can you do? 🤷♀️
