This campsite was perfect! There are two different camp pads to choose from based on the size of your tent. The spot is so peaceful and the view of the sunset is stunning. We enjoyed our time here and the hosts were wonderful.

We absolutely love this place! It is our second time back and we loved all the thoughtful details- such as the platforms, designated picnic table, and even corn hole! We appreciated Micheal coming to check on us give us dry kindling so we could start a fire since it had rained the previous day! We can’t wait to come back.

Accessing the site with our 26’ travel trailer was a breeze. Full hook-ups were available, making the stay very convenient.
The property is absolutely beautiful—like a park set right by the water. The lake was perfect for kayaking, and we appreciated the provided kayaks and life jackets.
There’s also a fantastic 1-mile walking trail, mowed and winding through the woods—great for a peaceful stroll.
The sunsets here are simply breathtaking.
The hosts were wonderful—friendly and accommodating!

Michael has really made a beautiful place to visit! So much to explore, see and do with the feeling of privacy that we love when camping. It was too windy to get out on the water/kayaks when we were there but had been so looking forward to that so hope to visit again for that opportunity! The dogs were thrilled that they could spend the weekend off leash, as well.

Sawmill Hollow Creek Campsite
We had a great trip. We stayed at Sawmill Hollow for a few (wet) nights at the end of May, fished and kayaked most of the time, and just enjoyed the peace and quiet. You get a large grassy area with mature trees, right on the water, all to yourself. The seclusion and privacy, and being able to let our dog roam and relax, stress-free--all of it was great. Having kayaks/canoes we could keep right at our campsite was wonderful too. Mike and Arlene were attentive and thoughtful hosts. We even forgot pillows, and they saved us from using balled-up laundry to rest our heads at night. We recommend staying here.

A beautiful and well kept property. On a cove off of the main waterway of the lake. Experienced a beautiful sunset over the lake our first night. Perfect stay.

What a great site. Really well put together, the best private space for lakeside primitive camping you could ask for. The kayaks are a nice feature as well, as are the camp platforms. Pro-tip, I think if you bring some bungees or carabiners you could clip on the to the supplied tie-down rings nicely.

Michael’s campsite is hands-down our favorite place to go when we want to unplug and truly relax. It’s peaceful, private, and has everything we need for a perfect camping getaway. Since our last visit, Michael has made several great updates that made our stay even more enjoyable. One of the best additions is the wooded risers for the tents—such a smart improvement. It rained during our stay, but we didn’t have to worry at all about water or mud seeping into the tent. The risers kept everything dry and level, and we didn’t have to deal with any uncomfortable rocks poking through the floor.
Another great update is the fire pit setup. It now has a sturdy metal ring, a metal cooking rack, and a hook for Dutch ovens, which made it super easy to cook meals right over the fire. We also took advantage of the kayak that Michael provides, which was such a fun and relaxing way to spend part of the day on the water.
One of the things we appreciate most about this site is how private and quiet it is. Our dog loves being able to run around freely without the stress of other people or dogs randomly showing up. It’s so nice to just let her be a dog without worry.
Michael clearly puts a lot of thought into making this a comfortable and welcoming spot, and it shows. Every time we leave, we’re already talking about when we can come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and pet-friendly escape in nature!

This place keeps calling us back—and for good reason. We've stayed here multiple times now, and every visit is just as magical as the last. The land is stunning, peaceful, and beautifully maintained, and the hosts—Mike, Arlene, and Carl—are some of the kindest, most welcoming people you'll ever meet. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels at home. Whether it's your first time or your fifth, this spot never loses its charm. Sawmill Hollow Creek Campsite
My boyfriend and I had an amazing tent stay on Michael’s property. The land goes right up to the water, is well kept and clean. Micheal greeted us and answered any questions we had. His wife came down was so kind to give us some fruit and pastries.
Kayaks are in walking distance and there’s a well kept mile long trail around the property. We loved every minute of it and hope to go back soon.

Absolutely loved our time here! We have traveled 3855 miles and stayed at many different campgrounds. This is by far our favorite! The mile long walking trail through the woods was wonderful. We walked along the lake and found fun treasures to bring home. The best part was that our dogs were aloud to be dogs! No leashes required. Thank you for your hospitality!!

I just camped here for a few days with my brother and the land was beautiful. It was pretty easy to get to. There was both a tent camp site and an RV site. The RV site was very professional. The owners were super kind and there was a great bonfire area with gazebo. Luckily we had great weather, I’ll definitely stay here again.

With my grandsons, we had a great time camping at this very well manicured campsite. The views are great and Michael is a pro with his short orientation and availability to answer any questions. There were plenty of cut logs ready to build a nice campfire to sit around. The outdoor bathroom was like new and very clean.

This is a one-of-a-kind camping spot. Very private. Right on the water. Access to kayaks within walking distance. A nice campfire pit with more than enough fire would. A picnic table with a grill. And an a clean outhouse. The host was easy to communicate with and even stopped by a couple of times to say hello. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing time here! Michael has a beautiful property, with a very clean campsite and bathroom. We enjoyed waking up to the water and walking the trail around his land. He provided us plenty of firewood, and allowed our dogs to be off leash. We absolutely loved it, definitely would recommend. We want to come back if we’re ever in the area again:)

This was definitely one of my favorite Hipcamp locations! I had a wonderful experience and would 100% recommend. I hope to visit again for longer to enjoy more of the activities since I was only there for one night.
The hosts (Mike, Arlene, and their dog Max), were SO welcoming and accommodating! They met me when I arrived, allowed me to park my RV closer to the water because it was smaller and didn't need a hookup, provided kayaks/life vests free of charge (at other Airbnb's it's $50 per day), and offered firewood for a fire.
I was solo camping with my dog in our 18ft RV and felt so safe and comfortable. The land is spacious and beautiful and I'm grateful they're opening up their home to visitors. Mike and Arlene were the perfect mix of friendly, social, and helpful, as well as providing privacy. The nature trail walk was peaceful and when I kayaked I saw a bald eagle and 50+ pelicans! This was my first time visiting Missouri and this spot was definitely one of my highlights.

This campsite was perfect for a fishing trip with the guys. While the water was low near the campsite, the access to the lake was incredible. Michael's storied collection of watercraft made it easy for us to get on the water and make way to deeper parts of the lake. There were lots of critters and wildlife to observe near the campsite, and a massive fire pit with plenty of fire wood generously offered for our use. We didn't have a chance to hike the trail, but the property is beautiful so I expect it is as well. Michael made sure to let us know he wasn't too far if we need anything. Our interactions with him were pleasant, and he has many stories to share.
Michael has done a great job outfitting the camp with benches and fixtures that make it appealing. It is primitive enough, but has amenities that make it attractive for casual campers as well. You won't regret staying at this campsite!

We had an amazing time. It was quiet and peaceful. The water is so calming. There are so many things to do from canoeing/kayaking to fishing to cornhole. The site is very spacious and can accommodate multiple tents. We spent most of our time hanging out by the fire reading and knitting and talking. It was a nice respite. We love the secluded/private feeling of the site.

We had an incredible experience staying at Mike and Arlene’s camping spot. Late at night, we accidentally bent our muffler, and Mike went out of his way to help us out. Both Mike and Arlene are wonderful people, and their pup Max was such a sweet addition to our stay. The location right on the water is absolutely perfect—our dogs loved every second of it! The area is remote, private, and beautifully peaceful. We were so impressed that we’ve decided to make this a regular stop on our travels. Highly recommend!

To say Michael’s place is perfect would be an under statement. A Secluded water front perfect for kayaking. The owners are so kind, offering scones from the local heritage days and provided me a jump start as we were leaving. The trail provided a good hike. The fire pit and included wood was used constantly on our mid October trip. I would recommend to anyone. We’re already discussing coming back with our daughter. Thanks for everything Mike!!

We loved tent camping on Michael’s property with our dogs. We enjoyed kayaking, playing cornhole, and soaking in the gorgeous views of the water. We felt safe and at peace at the campsite, and the outhouse, grill, and fire pit were appreciated amenities. We would absolutely recommend staying here and we hope to come back with friends! We are fairly new hipcampers but Sawmill Hollow is by far our favorite! Mike and Arlene are definitely "the hosts with the mosts"!
Their land is beautiful and they both made sure all of our needs were met! The fishing was great, the privacy was top notch and the sunsets were fantastic!
We will definitely be back!

We had the absolute best time enjoying 2 weeks at this amazingly private, spacious and well maintained site. Mike was a fantastic host who has a beautiful property that he clearly takes pride in. The outhouse was spotless and little chemical toilet was regularly swapped out. The space is huge, probably about two acres of open space.
The dogs absolutely loved being on the water and we enjoyed many trips on the lake in the kayaks.
There are ticks, and they're TINY, but we only picked them up from the edges of the longer grass, not a problem in the main open space.
The mosquitos weren't bad at all, only had some bites around dusk.
Direct water access made it easy to filter as much as we needed.
Solar was a little tricky but we made it work!
I hope we make it back because it was such a fabulous stay!
Just know that if you stay long enough, the coyotes will start getting comfortable and hanging out in the woods closer to the site in the early morning hours. We never had any issues, just kept the dogs on leash after dark.
Oh and there's an armadillo that we saw many times!! We don't have these where I am so it was very exciting 😂
