Odin's Summit Campground #3
Camping Odin #3, pasture camping
Was outstanding. Camping under the big Oak tree in the middle of a pasture.
Only down side was our schedule, which didn't let us meet the host and purchase vegies..
Would we come there again, If they let us, of course.
We have a 40 foot motorhome with a jeep tow care, very easy to manuver to the camping spot. Electric bikes worked great on the uneven terrain, had our firepit, again worked great.
Thank you

I loved camping here! We felt very safe and private. Such a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy. The directions to the camp site are very clear and easy to follow. Four wheel drive is a necessary precaution if it rains because the road can get pretty muddy. Totally recommend!

Camp site was pleasant and secluded. Listening to the animals and bugs was pleasant and watching a storm roll in that night was something to remember.

We ended up camping at the meadow campsite as the zen retreat site down by pond had a good amount of poison ivy in surrounding area. The meadow was a beautiful setting with great views of the sky!
We enjoyed watching the planes come in to KCI as well.

Host was nice but site not great.
Ken was great to work with. He was responsive and communicative. The campsite, unfortunately, was not what we were expecting. Discarded junk was present (a bike, water jug, old box trailer) and was not clean (fallen tree stump which had been burned laying across fire pit). That being said, we stayed there the same day we booked so didn’t give the host a lot of time to prep for us. We set our tent facing the pond and it was a very nice view.

Great spot close to KC!
Great camp spot!! Friendly hosts, lovely farm and views, this booking was exactly what I needed while traveling thru town in my camper van. Site was clean and quiet, sunrise was amazing, had lots of space and privacy to enjoy the outdoors, and it was easy to find even after dark. Felt very welcomed and safe, and will def. book again next time I'm traveling through the area.

Beautiful secluded spot! Never met the host, so we didn’t get to pet the goats, but that gives us another reason to go back! Thanks for a quiet night!

Almost a total letdown
This was my first time using Hipcamp. I chose this campsite based on the number of positive reviews. Unfortunately, I did not have as positive of an experience as other previous guests.
Pros:
-The campsite is far away from the road and very private.
-The host provided excellent written directions. It would have been nearly impossible to find the campsite without them.
-There is a big beautiful canopy of trees right over the fire pit.
-My boys had a great time despite the multiple fumbles.
Cons:
-Host wasn't the best with communication. I messaged the host a week before out stay and never received a reply. On the day of the stay I messaged the host because our pre-ordered firewood wasn't yet delivered. He replied and eventually delivered the firewood, but communication was slow.
-The Pond! This is not a pond. It is a swampy stinky duckweed covered mudhole. I was under the impression we would be able to swim in it, but there was no way. It stunk! Swimming was out. Also, no fishing. The duckweed cover was so thick there was no way to do kid fishing with a worm and bobber.
-The campsite was a bit junky and unmaintained. Right along the woods edge is an abandoned box truck filled with junk. The grill is rusted out. The picnic table is rotted and covered with a blanket of wrinkled riveted sheet metal. The chairs are old and rusty. The hammock is mildewed. There are multiple plastic buckets and containers abandoned near woods edge. Clearly the site has not been well maintained.
-Our Pre-paid wood we ordered wasn't delivered until an hour before we went to bed. I paid for 2 bundles of firewood. When I arrived at 1pm I messaged the host to find out when we would receive it. He sent his son to tell me that unfortunately the wood wasn't split and we would have to wait for his father to get off of work. We were depending on the wood to cook our dinner, roast s'mores and smoke the mosquitos away. We ended up cooking our hotdogs in tinfoil over some coals I worked up from burning branches I could find. We got eaten alive by mosquitos and we didn't have s'mores. When the wood arrived (just before dark) It was kind of wet (probably because he just split it minutes before delivering it to us). I couldn't get it to light. I am pretty good with fires, and I tried for over an hour. I couldn't get it to take. We ended up only using 2 pieces of wood from the huge stack he delivered. Wasted.
-You will need a 4 wheel drive vehicle that is lifted off the ground a little in order to make it to the campsite. Luckily we had our Subaru, but no way we would have ever made it in our van. Rough terrain.
All in all, I would not plan on staying here again. Hoping for a better experience next time.

Ken’s property was a great stay. The drive back to the campsite was easy in my little car (the road was dry during my stay). I felt wonderfully secluded. This was my first time on a solo trip with my dog and I felt comfortable and safe during my entire stay. Will definitely be back here.

So close to perfect
My stay was mostly fantastic, the campsite itself is phenomenal however the bundle of wood I pre-paid for was actually unsplit tree truck, not usable. I was able to forage for enough wood to have a few fires but be sure to bring a big ax or your own wood. My only other complaint was the airplane traffic overhead. It was A LOT of planes taking off and landing all the time. It was hard to get into a meditation or take a nap because the planes were low flying and SO loud.
When it was quiet it was so peaceful and shaded and beautiful. Lots of wild life and wild flowers!

Aside from the rather audacious spider that tried to make itself at home with me in the car, it was a good spot to stay for the night.

Good guy, great farm site
Great quiet place out in the country but near town. We instant booked hours before when something else feel through and Ken told me where to camp when I showed up at 10pm! I'm sure that's not what they prefer but nice to know he's the kind of guy who will meet somebody unexpected on his porch in an emergency. Green fields with a big tree, fire pit, and little table. Perfect for our tent trailer.

The site and stay was mostly great- I loved how private it felt. However, there was some lack of communication with the host. There was a big rain storm the night of my stay and since the grounds were soaked and the path out includes some hills and no gravel, my car got stuck in the mud on the way out. The host was out of town and unable to help. It would have been great to list in the site description that a 4x4 vehicle may be necessary in the event of rain and I also would have appreciated knowing if the host was not around- for safety and emergency reasons. I will say once I was able to get a cell service and reach out to the host for help via text, they did call friends in to help get my car out, which was massively helpful since the tow companies in the area did not want to risk getting their trucks stuck. I would have preferred more upfront communication because that info may have impacted my decision.

Stayed here before and everytime I come it is amazing. Every camp spot is super secluded and makes you feel like you aren't just 30 mins away from downtown kansas city and you are. 100% would reccomend.
