Our stay was cancelled due to weather but Harless was very sweet and stayed in communication with us through it all. We will be booking again in the future!

Camping at Harless’ Place

It’s a lovely cozy campground in nature on the Castor River. The water is nice for small children and adults as it is shallow at the beach, yet there are deeper swim holes to get to. Harless is the host with the most and made us feel welcome and happily answered any questions we had. We stayed at Campsite 5 for three nights and it was lovely. Made friends with other campers and it was a wonderful getaway. Thanks, Harless! We’re planing on coming back!

Site 7 Primitive Sycamore Springs

Beautiful, private, property. The owner (I believe), Harley, was so sweet and welcoming he drove in to check on everyone who reserved sites and even offered us firewood because he saw that we got some unexpected rain and had none. It was so peaceful and clean and so close to the river banks. The water wasn’t very deep but it was clean and clear and cool. Will definitely be coming back again.

Such a great relaxing place. We had the place to ourselves. The campground was great and right by the river. We were able to take our chairs down there and relax right by the water. Take a quick dip in whenever we got a little hot. Beautiful area and very well kept.

Excellent camping spot!!

Great family camping spot with plenty to do! We had a great Father’s Day weekend stay at Sycamore Springs Campground. The property was a great setup for our family and gave us plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. We spent the weekend riding, exploring, swimming, fishing, checking out the creek, and even doing some cave hunting. We also did a lot of campsite cooking and made a ton of good memories with the kids. One of the biggest highlights for us was being able to really unplug and enjoy nature while still having a comfortable place to camp. The area was peaceful, scenic, and made for a fun adventure-filled weekend. We put around 150 miles on the side by side and had an absolute blast. Overall, it was a really fun family getaway and a spot we’d definitely be coming back to.

Bring water shoes!!

Right on the water and a really cool rock formation to check out. Perfect for tent camping. Right up the road the conservation area has AMAZING waterfalls. The host was great and checked in on us to see if we needed more firewood. Can't wait to come back!

Site 8 Primitive Sycamore Springs

I really loved sitting in my camp chair in the river with my toes in the water and looking at cool rocks. It is a nice location but I did not expect the busy road so close to my campsite. I also did not appreciate the guy cutting the grass while I was still in my tent. I had planned on enjoying the river that day but when that noise started I packed up and went home. I might suggest some weed eating as well so you don't have to walk through tall grass to access the stream. No picnic table at my site.

Harless is an amazing host: he is very friendly, accommodating, and his property is beautiful. We were able to get some extra firewood and he loaned us a canopy in the rain. The campsite site sits right on the creek, which is swimmable and made for an excellent stay. This was my second time at the campsite and the location near castor river, the creek, and the friendly host made it one of my favorite spots to camp. Highly recommend visiting! I will definitely be back again.

A Little Oasis

We have found our new spot!!!! What a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors. The site was very well maintained with flat ground for our tent and plenty of trees for shade, a fire pit and nearby grill, and a nice sturdy bench. You’re a hop, skip, and a jump away from a beautiful creek/river that has fresh springs supplying cool, clear water. The sites were easy to find and easily accessible. There were some cars that would come down the gravel road that the sites were located off of, but I only remember one or two at night while we were sleeping. That didn’t bother us any. What made our whole trip was getting to talk with the host, Harley. He’s full of stories that take you back in time to fill you in on some of the history of the area. He was EXTREMELY kind, respectful, and knowledgeable.. We wish we could’ve stayed longer to hear more, but there is no doubt that we will be back again and again!! Highly recommend this spot, which is a semi-sweet statement to make since I’d like to keep it a secret it’s that good, but Harley deserves the guests and good review. We can’t wait to get back out there! Thank you!!!

This place is a magical sanctuary that heals the heart and soul! This place became very special to my heart during our stay because of the scenery, the Host (Harless aka Harley) and how peaceful it is there! Harley is so friendly, kind, and caring and we are so grateful that we made a new dear friend! He answered all of our questions, gave great area recommendations, and even made sure we had plenty of fire wood! He has great restaurant recommendations should you choose to make that short 15 minute drive into town! We only we in for one meal. Harley invited us to Northtown Tavern for a crawfish boil while we were there and the crawfish boil and the pizza did not disappoint! It was delicious! But what made it really special was the people and the atmosphere! This was an experience for the books and we will be back for years to come! My husband, daughter, myself, our 2 dogs and cat stayed at site 10 and we fit comfortably! The camp site and the location was perfect! There is constant running water sounds and you are right on the Castor River! The shut ins were breathtaking! We cant wait to go back!

This place is Awesome! If you’re into camping 5 yards from the river then this is the place for you. We camped here on Easter weekend so we had the entire place to ourselves. Harless was a great host and went out of his way to make sure we were safe and comfortable. There was a 3.5” rain in the middle the night and he was right there the next morning to warn us about the river rising and made sure we were safe. We ended up hooking up and leaving for the day to have lunch and antiquing and returned after the river went down to finish out the weekend. He even offered to refund our $ for the inconvenience! That’s one thing we love about booking through Hipcamp; you meet some of the nicest people and the camps are usually superior than any State Park or Forestry campground. We will be returning to this one.

Site 8 Primitive Sycamore Springs

Down stream from Castor River Shut-Ins sits this secluded yet easily accessible campground. It is right on the water which is clean and has good fishing. It's very quiet at night with almost no light pollution for stargazers. The sunshine hits the camp area for essentially the entire day. It's a good place to catch some rays! 10/10 would recommend. The owner is friendly and accommodating as well!

The hose was great! There was not a toilet on the site like listed so they had a porta potty brought right to our site. They were very helpful and kind, also brought us firewood. The site was beautiful, right on the river. We had a great time!

Great location. Excellent Host. Great for camper’s that like peace and nature. Forget the state parks and overcrowded RV parks.. This is the place to be and it’s clean and on the water.

We questioned there not being a bathroom and the manager quickly addressed it and had one dropped off. Nothing but a clean and beautiful camp site and the manager was so friendly! We LOVED it

This was a great place to camp. Great scenery, saw bald eagles and lots of wildlife. Camp sites are right by a rolling creek. The campground host was a great guy and showed us around, super helpful. Will definitely return, highly recommended
