Palo Pinto Creek Retreat
This place is a junkyard, literally. The spot is next to a CO road by a muddy creek un-mowed area. The pictures are very deceiving. This spot must be flagged. no place for children or families. You will think you are in the movie DELIEVERANCE.

I've picked so many campsites over the years and never packed up and left without staying the night. Let me be clear, the people we interacted with were very kind and polite and this review is only for the actual site and immediate surroundings.
Pulling in from the main road, you turn into what is essentially a junkyard. There is a side road that turns to the left and skirts the side of said junkyard. Unfortunately, the junkyard has spilled over into the campsite and I took plenty of pictures but apparently Hipcamp won't let me post them on a negative review. The water is highly used by cattle, there is significant noise whenever a car passes over the nearby bridge, there is a train nearby that we heard, and did i mention the visible junk?
It was too many things so we just broke camp and left.

Awesome camping site on the Palo Pinto creek, very generous amount of firewood stocked at the site, and definitely recommend the Kayak and Canoe. Great host, would camp here again

Palo Pinto Creek Retreat
This was a great location to take my kids for their first camping experience! The site was full of trees providing excellent shade. There were several flat areas and fire pits to choose from. The kids loved exploring the space and seeing all of the nature around them. Access to the water was nice. We didn't catch anything while fishing, but fun was had regardless. They also loved walking up the drive to see the goats. We were greeted by a friendly chicken each morning as it grazed near our tent. Overall, the space was very nice and is great for single families or groups.

Loved the privacy! Great host and they came down to meet us and said if we had an issue or questions, to give them a call. Camp sites were on flat ground and plenty of shade from the trees.

Great hosts! They came down to introduce themselves, left a contact number if we needed anything, and left us alone which we really appreciated. Great camping spot with plenty of room. Close enough to DFW that it wasn't a pain to get to but far enough away that we definitely felt like we were out in the country.

Great people!!! Great location!! Very quiet, clean, has shade in different spots so you can get out of the sun. Travis and Aimee showed us around and greeted us and then we had the campsites all to ourselves. Beautiful little creek by the site, nice sand area for my 2 & 4 year old to play in, not to far from town in case you need to go for anything. We will definitely be back and will recommend to anyone in the future!

Palo Pinto Creek Retreat
We had a nice weekend at Palo Pinto Creek Retreat. Travis and Aimee made everything easy and were very friendly upon our arrival. Otherwise we didn't see them which is great when camping out in the woods. But knowing they were close by if needed was welcomed.
We had a group of 8 spread across both campsites and there was room for all. There is good shade but if you are tenting, be advised some of the land is uneven for tents.

Communication was prompt. Easy to find campsite. Really enjoyed the sound of the trains. Looks like the hill on the road has been recently graded. The goats were cool to see too.

Upon arriving to the camp, we were very impressed by the hospitality of the host. Was an awesome little getaway, not far from the metroplex. Great campsites right on the water edge. Spent a day on kayaks on the creek watching the solar eclipse. Was a great visit and plan to be back. Looked at multiple campsites nearby and were very grateful we chose Travisâ place. Lots to do, space and room to feel completely outdoors, and the firewood provided was exceptionally helpful as the fall nights are coming on, and you never know what a gas station bundle could burn like. Hope to visit again soon!

Palo Pinto Creek Retreat
This was my first time using my RTT and this location was ideal. It was secluded and the site had enough room for my portable shower, toilet and canopy. For those wanting to fish, the river is really close by. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. I was able to enter and exit with my two-wheel drive truck with no issues.
Palo Pinto Creek is a site I will visit again.

Palo Pinto Creek Retreat
We tent-camped at this site and definitely enjoyed our stay. Pretty much had the place to ourselves, except for a few geese and chickens. We could hear cows in the next field, and the train came through a few times, but quite a peaceful spot all around and felt like we had really left the city. My young kids had a blast throwing rocks in the river and digging in the dirt. I actually slept pretty great! And the bugs weren't bad at all (April, maybe not late enough yet to get bad - good to know!). I did pick up a few pieces of stray trash that did not feel super welcoming and outhouse is definitely primitive with a few friendly wasps in the upper corner, but for heaven's sake - it's camping!! It's all part of the fun! If you want more than that, there's always a hotel somewhere *cheeky grin*

Stopped here overnight in a road trip. It was rustic but did the job and was very convenient to the interstate. They were very accommodating about me arriving pretty late and booking last minute.

Stayed here on a cross country trip. Fast, easy access from I-20 so not a major detour which was important to me. Rustic place - itâs a farm! But it was quiet and restful with friendly hosts.

Fabulous camping area - steep slope allowed for good privacy. Loved watching the turtles and other wildlife. Travis and his fam were very accomodating. We pitched tent and were able to watch the sunrise over the creek and enjoyed a fire in the nice-sized pit.

Private camping spot right on the water. Awesome fishing and paddling spot. Rock trail leads down a steep incline to flat camping area on the river with plenty of trees. Recommend 4x4 if you tow a trailer else area is accessible for 2wheel drive. Bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper as there is a railway near by. Travis is great to provide a hose for potable water refill.
