The Goat Pens campsite offers a blend of seclusion and convenience, nestled close to Big Bend and Terlingua. Campers frequently mention the clean restrooms and showers, along with the stunning night skies filled with stars. Visitors appreciate the space and privacy the dispersed camping provides, and many highlight the friendly host and his adorable dog, Pepper. However, potential visitors should note the occasional windy conditions and the lack of cell reception.

We enjoyed our stay. Restrooms and showers were clean. And views were nice.

My husband and I enjoyed camping at The Goat Pens. We were able to have the dispersed camping experience of some of the backcountry sites in Big Bend National Park but without the need for an off-road vehicle. The clean pit toilets and outdoor showers were an added plus. We were also able to walk our dog on the property and were in close proximity to the pet sitter in Terlingua that we used while hiking in Big Bend National Park. Jeff offered to meet us on arrival but the directions on Hipcamp were good enough we didn’t need any assistance. Note that just like dispersed camping in the national park, there is no potable water and no place at camp to throw away trash. We were there 4 nights and during that time there was one other couple camping for one of those nights. If the campground had been full it would have been a much different experience, but as it was it was perfect for us.

What a lovely little place! Far enough from town to feel secluded, but not SO out there that it gets spooky. Solo female traveler approved. Will certainly be back.
