If you’re staying anywhere near Big Bend, I can’t recommend Willow Campground in Study Butte enough. The campsites are spacious, quiet, and thoughtfully laid out so you don’t feel stacked on top of other campers. The showers and restrooms were exceptionally clean, which after long dusty days exploring the desert is a massive plus.
What truly made the experience stand out though was the hospitality. The host, Ratief, is cool as hell and genuinely one of the friendliest campground hosts I’ve had the pleasure of talking to. He made me feel welcomed from the start, shared some incredible local offroad drives and hidden gems around the area that I otherwise would have never found.
Beautiful desert views, great atmosphere, clean facilities, and good people. Exactly the kind of place that makes a Big Bend trip unforgettable. I will absolutely be back.
