NO FISHING As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. We offer a uniquely secluded setting with stunning views of the Chisos Mountains. Located just 7 miles from the entrance to Big Bend National Park, and 10 miles from the visitors' center at Big Bend Ranch State Park, it is a perfect base from which to explore all the hiking, boating, and scenic beauty that West Texas is known for. The arts, history, and entertainment of Terlingua Ghost Town are less than 2 miles away. Like most ruins in the Ghost Town, my stone house was built in the early 1900s to house a miner’s family from the nearby Rainbow Mine. I bought the property in 1986 and began restoring and rebuilding. In 2019 I retired here from NYC and began exploring possibilities for sustainable tourism. West Texas is one of the best places in the United States to view the Milky Way (both Big Bend parks are certified as International Dark Sky parks). We use shielded LED lighting around buildings and pathways to cut down on light pollution and optimize stargazing opportunities for our astrotourists. And we are applying for dark sky certification from the Texan By Nature program. Bear in mind that this is the desert, in all its rugged glory. There are critters, rocks, plants with thorns, slippery slopes, sink holes, rusted artifacts and broken glass from decades long past. Bring sturdy shoes and a flashlight, and stay on the paths! Our intention is to provide remote, low-density accommodation for folks who are respectful of the land.

The lake was intended to serve primarily as a reservoir for the city of San Antonio, but it had the secondary effect of transforming the economy of Comal County. Even before the lake was filled, construction had begun on dozens of new subdivisions along the 60-mile lakefront and in the hills around it. By the mid-1980s, more than 80 new neighborhoods had been built, and the little ranching communities of Sattler and Startzville had become thriving commercial centers serving tourists from nearby Austin and San Antonio. 🌿 Escape to a cozy tiny house on 10 private wooded acres with friendly goats. Enjoy a full kitchen, a newly renovated bathroom, and a loft with queen beds that opens onto a deck with stunning views. Relax on the wraparound outdoor living space, complete with a grill, seating, hammocks, and a fire pit. Explore peaceful trails, stargaze at night, and unwind in total tranquility—perfect for couples, families, or anyone seeking a nature escape. The sleeping area is located in a loft accessible via outdoor stairs or an indoor ladder. One side of the ceiling is low, while the other side is approximately 6 feet high. Although the space inside the tiny home is limited, the deck provides ample room for relaxation and enjoyment. Guests are also welcome to explore the entire fenced property. Downstairs, you'll find a cozy TV area adjacent to a compact yet fully equipped kitchen featuring a full-size refrigerator, stove and oven, microwave, coffee maker, and even an air fryer. A full-size bed downstairs can accommodate two additional guests, and a futon is available for one extra guest. Please note: Two additional cabins are located on the property and are also available for rent. Minor construction activity may still be present in some areas. If raining, reads will get muddy and a 4x4 might be needed.

The terrain ranges from moderate to steep, offering challenges for all skill levels. For accommodations, we offer several options. Choose from camping in the valleys with tents or stay in our 6-room lodge, which features beds for 4 to 2 people, one shower, two bathrooms, and an outdoor kitchen. Please remember to bring bottled water for drinking and cooking, as we are off-grid in the higher elevations. Cool off in our large cistern converted into a swimming pool, or simply take in the breathtaking views. From the Southwest, you can admire the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico and catch a glimpse of the silhouette of the laying lady on clear days. At night, marvel at the lights of Del Rio, located 37 miles away, and enjoy unparalleled stargazing opportunities. While we're off-grid in the higher elevations, phone service is available for AT&T and T-Mobile users. Weekend Trip to La Finca Cabin-10 acres with goats!

The location was great, my kids enjoyed feeding the goats. They were not aggressive so that made it super easy for my kids to entertain themselves, with supervision of course. The cabin was cutely decorated and spacious enough for 3 rowdy kids and 2 adults. The porch had a good view and the hammocks were comfortable. No internet issues while there. Mr. Rafael was very responsive and helpful. We got great use of all the supplied equipment in the kitchen. The host did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed, (bug spray, seasonings, flashlight, first aid kid). Our family will definitely be coming back again, thank you for the relaxing weekend out of the city!

This was our first time there and the place was fantastic! The views were amazing and if stargazing is your thing then this is the place! We got some great shots of the Milky way. The restrooms with showers is close by and the Bad Rabbit Café was wonderful! The chef made my eggs perfectly. Lol.

Weekend Trip to The Bus Stop Campground

Loved this place! I had the campground all to myself, probably because it was the dead of summer. 😂 A big thunderstorm rolled through my last night there, and it was something to see. The Wi-Fi stayed strong even during the storm, which was surprising, and the showers were HOT. My only complaint is the long, rocky road getting in. I was in a small car, so just take it slow. I stayed at Campsite 5, which was perfect—right across from the showers and bathrooms. Would definitely stay here again!

This spot was nothing short of a special surprise. Although primitive, is suitable for both an over night or a couple days trip. My mom, husband, toddler, dog and I all enjoyed every moment of our stay. Wilson supplied an abundance of firewood and was a great host. It is a little trek into the sight, but the journey is well worth it!

The property is adorable and lush. The Den, the showers, the outdoor kitchen all bring an easy breezy vibe to the place. The A frames make it feel like a retreat away and it’s the perfect place for a solo overnight, a couples get away, or a trip with a group of friends. I didn’t try the cowboy pools or the sauna so I’m already making plans to return.

The cabins are clean and well kept. The AC works well and they have mini fridges. There are toilets near the cabins, and also toilet + showers down the path. The sauna is great; love the cedar smell. There are beautiful views all around the property.

Weekend Trip to 3 Dry Wells Ranch

We loved our time at 3 dry Wells Ranch! We stayed in the sunset Hill Bell tent and it was perfect. We fit 3 people and 2 dogs comfortably. The view was amazing, and truly saw the most beautiful sunset. We felt secluded and it was super quiet! Just great place to unwind. Hosts were amazing, William brought us a second generous stack of wood we purchased for the pit. Well worth the money. Thank you!

We stayed at Seco Ridge Campground with family and friends and had such a great time. It’s a super quiet place, and literally they had everything we needed over there. Time by time we kept finding new things to explore, which made the trip so much fun. It is really comfortable, and perfect spot to just relax and hang out. We're definitely coming back again. Highly recommend!
