Great desert spot
Simple. Straight forward. Exactly what I needed.
Location is tucked back off the main road.
I prefer feeling “far away” from others so this spot was ideal. If there are other campers, you will be camped next to each other… But on this night I was alone :) Cell phone service in that whole region can be spotty but I actually had a few bars of LTE service once at the actual campsite.

Awesome stay. Perfect for what we needed. Close to a country store with wonderful people and lots of goodies. 10/10 would stay again! Watch out for those washboard strips on the road to get there though :)

Absolutely beautiful but tricky
This was a wonderful location. Absolutely beautiful! Please include on your directions for folks to make the second right off the American Legion Road. We were confronted with some scary signs & thAnkfully the person came out to direct us & was nice but that interaction could have gone very wrong. Any flags notifying folks where to turn could be really helpful!

Due to issues beyond our control we unfortunately were unable to make it. Allan was very accommodating and understanding. Hope to make it there at some point.

easy and remote!
allan is correct. it is remote. about 20-25 mins n of terlingua. but the remoteness is what is about. sites 1 & 2 each have a fire pit, whereas the other 5 sites have 1 central pit for all sites. we stayed for 5 nites. beautiful sunsets and moon sets over the mesa to the west.
keep in mind that the desert can be windy. and being in the high desert plains, it can be really windy.
great site if you seek remoteness. on both sides there are small arroyos to explore as well.

Rest and Relaxation
If you are looking for an isolated spot to unwind, look no further. From sunrise to sunset this place is amazing. A true Godsend. Allan and Tori are amazing hosts.

Gorgeous solitude
Beautiful spot, totally isolated, great views, long vistas . Owner sends a detailed map of how to get there on reasonably smooth dirt roads. All dusty paddle sites are roughly equivalent, on a short loop. While it's a bit further away from Big Bend park, way nicer than staying in a Terilingua RV compound. Simple groceries available at nearby little burro country store

Great campsite! Allan was super helpful and quick to respond with directions last minute. We did get turned around on the dirt roads in the dark (it’s the second right, not the first! 😉). Amazing sunrise view and great dark sky for stars. Thanks dusty paddle!

A great option near Terlingua
Dusty Paddle was a great last-minute option when we couldn’t get a site in BBNP or BBRSP. Allen approved our request very quickly and responded immediately when we had trouble downloading the pdf file with directions due to spotty cell coverage in the park. He went above and beyond to cut and paste the document into a text for us and his directions to this very out-of-the-way place were precise, accurate, and easy to follow.
Note to anyone who tries to map it here via a driving map app: We knew there’d be no address to lookup but we tried to use Waze to get to the initial landmark where the directions begin. Waze thought it was in Alpine and that was disconcerting but we followed it anyway and it was right where it should be a few minute (20ish) outside of Terlingua, nowhere near Alpine. Trust your map to the first landmark then follow Allen’s instructions. Don’t expect any signage.
There are closer places to stay near Terlingua but considering how far everything is from each other in this part of Texas we didn’t think the distance was significant at all.
Thank you Allen for providing a great option when the parks are full and for being to quick to respond and get us there!

Isolated desert camping
Very isolated so be prepared. Directions were good just clarify with host before attempting to pull a camper back there, very limited turn around spots if a mistake is made. But my girlfriends Honda Civic made it just fine as well. Area is well maintained and fire pit is centrally located. For the price and location to big bend NP it’s great. Limited dining option near by, not really a negative just a heads up.

If you follow the directions, it’s easy to get there. We rented the entire group site and had it all to ourselves. Nice roads to explore on mountain bikes.

Awesome primitive spot well off the highway to keep away from car lights and noise. Group fire pit is well made, and we had it all to ourself during our stay. A decent length drive to major sights in BBNP but the size of the park makes that the case from just about anywhere in my experience. Overall a great, private camping experience in beautiful Big Bend country.
