Pastures are mowed three times a year and always look beautiful. There is some
terrain that is rough and the land has not been traveled. Bring machetes and a compass (We are not a rescue team). The land is ready to be loved by our visitors.
The llamas will come to greet you and so will many more things in this wonderful place. We are conveniently located in a secluded area, but just a short drive from many local conveniences.

Welcome to Texas Safari Camp
Come escape to a heavily wooded 31 acre pristine wildlife habitat. Only one hour east of Dallas but it feels like another world. At the end of a one lane rock road- this is a very secluded property. It is perfect for tent camping groups and individuals, has a very positive vibe and is more peaceful than most state parks. It adjoins a 950 acre wildlife park with 1200 exotic animals. Many can be seen from the road or you can pay to drive through and feed the animals.
Your host is Randall Oliver. He has been organizing group campouts for years and enjoys hosting, bringing people together and inspiring a love of nature, camping and paddling. Everyone is welcome and campers are treated like family. He can teach your kids to kayak and build a camp fire.
You can fish for largemouth bass, cat, crappy and bluegill in the two ponds and swim, paddle kayaks and paddle boards, hike the jungle trail and socialize around the campfires.
There are no designated campsites. You can camp anywhere except between the green building and the front pond. No vehicles are allowed back on the property. Off road wagons are provided to help haul your gear. Front pond camping areas are 30-100 yards from parking area. The rear pond is more secluded but farther from the parking and outhouse. There are four fire pits around the front pond and one next to the rear pond.
The tiny handcrafted Hummingbird Tree House is perched on an elevated deck overlooking the front pond. and features a queen bed, a bed in the loft for two small kids, electricity, lights, fan, hummingbird stained glass windows, screened operable windows and a screened, operable porthole window in the kids loft. The deck has lights, tables and chairs and outdoor table and chairs and a thatch covered umbrella. There is no heat or AC in the tree house. You must bring your own sleeping bags, blankets and pillows. No food, smoking or pets allowed in the tree house.
There is a rustic outhouse with a modern composting toilet, sink, faucet, lights, soap, etc. and a nearby cold water outdoor shower (no privacy), sink, counter and faucet. Use of firepit and grill, kayaks and paddleboards, rod & reels, hammocks, swinging chair and tire swing is included. Firewood can be purchased $1 per stick

1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet.
About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out.
NO FISHING
As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around.
We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails.
There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful.
We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch.
Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are--

. These are unique camping spots along the Guadalupe River. I didn’t exactly understand how unique until I started getting feedback from my campers.
The surrounding scenery will lower your blood pressure and do wonders to let you reconnect with nature. Sit back and close your eyes late in the evening and listen to all the wildlife talking to each other. There is faint traffic noise from 90A about a 1/3 of a mile away but it calms down after 7 or so.
Currently no amenities but I am in the plans for some portable bathrooms. Please be prepared to cover all your bathroom and cooking needs. I do have some good clean well water from a faucet on the way into the campgrounds.
Campfires are permitted.
There is a convenience store (Diamond A) with clean bathrooms and a great bbq just 5 miles to the west on 90A and a Walmart and HEB 10 miles to the east on 90A. (Both Diamond A and Walmart sell fishing licenses if you need one.
Dogs are allowed at sites 3 and 4 but not at 1 or 2 where my livestock guardian dogs have access to. No matter the size or temperament of your pets you are always expected to have them under your control at ALL times. I have very small livestock in the area frequently

Get into low gear and enjoy the slow pace and peace of our little working farm on the edge of the hill country. Low Gear Farmstead's 75 acres border the lovely San Saba River, providing campers the opportunity to swim, wade, fish and paddle. Farm animals including dairy goats, chickens, and horses inhabit the property, but wildlife such as deer, wild turkey, ringtail, fox and armadillo is also abundant. Bird watchers will be delighted at the diversity of birds, especially in spring. Don't forget to look up at night as our dark skies provide excellent stargazing on clear nights and a very visible Milky Way. We limit the number of campsites and spread them out so that campers may enjoy privacy and seclusion. Campsites are provided with compost toilets and most sites also have a fire ring. 4WD is not required unless we have had heavy rains, otherwise most vehicles, except very low clearance ones, do fine. The nearest town, Menard, is about a 12 minute drive from the property and has a grocery store, gas stations, a couple restaurants, a pub and a bakery. Lovers of history might enjoy visiting the Presidio de San Saba, about 20 minutes from the farm, as well as the historic Pioneers Rest Cemetery in town. Low Gear Farmstead is a safe, welcoming space for queers and POC.

At the designated tent camping sites, you will find oak groves that provide opportunities for shade. The RV sites are in a picturesque field that provides excellent views of the sunset. The field leads down to incredible cypress trees lining the Medina River. We also have a primitive camping area down by the river that requires you to park in a parking area and walk to your preferred camping spot.
If you are looking for solitude and untouched nature, this is the place for you. The comforts of Bandera are conveniently only a 5 minute drive away. We are located less than 2 miles from Bandera City Park!
At this time, all sites are completely dry. We do have porta-potties available. RV sites are boondocking only (no water or electric at this time.) Guests may stay at Memmie’s Farm for a maximum of 6 consecutive nights.
Our slice of land on the Medina River is truly gorgeous! There are beautiful cypress trees that are magical year round, and there are often small rapids. If relaxing in the shade by the river and dipping your feet in is your thing, our property is perfect for that! However, this is not a swimming hole. The Medina River is generally not considered safe in Bandera, TX, due to consistent low flow. Swim at your own risk.

Established 1996, The farm is situated just minutes from Magnolia-Silos, the Dr. Pepper museum, Baylor University, the Texas Ranger museum, BSR Waterpark, the Waco Mammoth National Monument (US National Park Service), and plenty of magnificent restaurants.
There are no power lines over the property so I invite you to bring a kite to fly! You may even see one or two of mine in the sky. The theme of Coyote Creek Farm is tranquility. It is camping without someone crowding into your space. It is freedom from the hectic pace of the city.
There is a well maintained Compost Toilet on the property as well! Each individual campsite has a portable potty bucket provided. Nearly any spot you are on has an amazingly delightful view. You can see the sun rise over the trees or the sun set behind a gently sloping hill. You will have access to all of the 30 acres. There are paths to walk, a stocked tank to fish in, (bass, catfish and blue gill), and oak and pecan trees to sit under and view the clouds as they drift overhead. The noises you hear will be cattle calling to their little ones, birds singing, and in the evenings, coyotes howling.

1) Fishing is Catch and Release only
2) Farm animals make noise (roosters crowing, goats bleat, cows moo and coyotes howl.
3) Buy our Almost famous Dill Pickles. Made with farm grown Armenian cucumbers. A real hit with our hipcampers.
4) some farm fresh eggs. Our free range chickens work hard for our hip campers.
5) Our charcuterie boards are legendary (can’t miss)
6) Two State Parks within 30 minutes for additional hiking (Tawakoni State park and Cooper State Park)

Down Horn Ranch is over 100 acres located just outside of Llano, Texas. We have a small herd of Longhorn cattle, plenty of wildlife, and live creeks running through the property. We are just 5 miles from the beautiful town of Llano Texas, where you can enjoy the Llano River, various restaurants, and shopping on the historic town square. Short 45 minute drive over to Fredricksburg Texas, 10 miles to Enchanted Rock, and several lakes within 30 miles.

This was a fantastic spot, really beautiful scenery and property, and with the Nueces river on the way, there's easy access for swimming. The site I got was also very secluded, with lots of space between sites. For this seclusion though, do expect to drive 20-30 minutes off of any highway down dirt roads to get to your site, which can be a little tiring after a long day. Other than that, the host was incredibly nice and considerate, the directions I was sent were clear and straightforwards, and the site & property were absolutely gorgeous. Would come again!!

We loved our primitive campsite on Ashley’s property - it was exactly what we were looking for. The directions were very thorough allowing us to find our campsite easily and property is absolutely beautiful! Our campsite was private, quiet and perfect for a relaxing weekend to unwind. We thoroughly enjoyed the resident herd of bulls + donkey that wandered by and hung out to see what we were all about LOL. A couple storms rolled through the first night/morning but then after that the stargazing each night was incredible. Ashley’s communication was fantastic & she was very responsive to my questions. We had a great time and would highly recommend.

Ocotillo Grande was a great spot to camp with fantastic views! Super close to several national parks which was very convenient. The campsites were easy to get to and the view of the stars is great!

Directions to the site were great and the ranch was a cool find! I wouldn’t recommend site 2 in rainy weather. We were prepared for the rain but not for the mud. It was a very private site and had a nice sunset view.

We had such a wonderful stay at Llamaland Camping—truly a unique and memorable experience! From the moment we arrived, everything felt peaceful, welcoming, and thoughtfully set up.
The campsite itself is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained, with just the right balance between comfort and nature. Waking up to the fresh air and scenic surroundings was incredibly relaxing. The highlight, of course, was the llamas—they were adorable, friendly, and added such a special touch to the entire stay.
Judy was a fantastic host—kind, responsive, and clearly passionate about what she’s created. She made sure we had everything we needed and offered helpful tips to make the most of our visit.
If you’re looking for something different from a typical camping trip, this is the perfect spot. It’s peaceful, fun, and great for both relaxing and making lasting memories. We would absolutely come back and highly recommend it to anyone!

This spot was perfect! Just did a day trip out there and brought the pups and family and it was great. Enough flowing water to sit and enjoy a beverage, swimming holes to take a dunk in. Ellie keeps the property and camping area mowed and there’s a little fire pit at the camp spot. I’ll def be returning and will do a overnight stay next time!

Just perfect. In every way this was a much needed solo trip for me. Mental health was the focus and the heart is happy now too after my stay. The views are incredible. The setup and camp layout is ideal for one or more and the adjoining trails were nice to explore too. Bill was one enough to bring me the firewood I forgot to grab at the house and we had a great chat too. Dark sky and bright stars. Just...I really needed this. I'll be coming back in the future for sure. !
