The property is adorable and lush. The Den, the showers, the outdoor kitchen all bring an easy breezy vibe to the place. The A frames make it feel like a retreat away and it’s the perfect place for a solo overnight, a couples get away, or a trip with a group of friends. I didn’t try the cowboy pools or the sauna so I’m already making plans to return.

This place felt very luxurious! I loved the little cabin with the fancy coffee set up and the common spaces with all the amenities. There was plenty of room to roam around and enjoy the hillsides of wildflowers and so many species of birds. I highly recommend staying here.
The cabins are clean and well kept. The AC works well and they have mini fridges. There are toilets near the cabins, and also toilet + showers down the path. The sauna is great; love the cedar smell. There are beautiful views all around the property.
The Charmadillo was more than we could've asked for! We love tent camping but having such nice amenities like clean bathrooms and a full service kitchen made everything such a breeze. It was so quiet and relaxing. We will absolutely be back!
Sarah’s land was an amazing place to camp with beautiful views and a really relaxing atmosphere. There were quite a few options for tent spots, although some areas of the field were a little overgrown which limited a few camping spots. That said, the amenities more than made up for it. Easily the best bathrooms and showers I’ve ever found at a camping spot—super clean and really well kept. The sauna was such a nice treat after a long day of hiking, and the small pools were a great touch. Having access to the kitchen was awesome, and the den was the perfect hangout spot to play games and relax. Overall, a great place to unwind and camp!
This is my second time camping on Sarah’s property and it was just as wonderful as my last trip. The facilities are tip top and always clean and ready for use. The property is beautiful and such a wonderful place to reset and recharge. Sarah has created such a special place!

We love this place so much! This is our second visit and it was even better than the first. The bed is so comfy, the amenities are perfect, and the location is beautiful.

We loved our stay at the Charmadillo! You can tell the owners worked hard and were very thoughtful about building this amazing spot! We enjoyed the sauna and stock pools. Also the shower/bathrooms were immaculate (and I’m super picky!!). We also used the communal kitchen to prepare a meal - so it was wonderful all around! Highly recommend and hope to return one day again!
We absolutely loved this place ! Sarah was super responsive and very friendly. The place had all the amenities needed . It was very clean , organized and provided more than what you needed to make the experience comfortable, and relaxing . We are already planning a trip to come back with our family in May !
This place was wonderful! So cute and comfortable with lots of amenities on site. The star-gazing is insane here! We also enjoyed the sauna and a dip in the cowboy pool. Close to fun attractions for outdoor adventures. Great coffee in town at Central Provisions in Center Point. We'd love to come back sometime!

Really amazing space. Amazing deal for the price - I tent camped. It does get very windy at night and was colder than I expected, so keep that in mind and plan accordingly. Host was great.
The sauna was also really special - true nordic vibes. Kitchen and shower facilities are also excellent and well maintained.
Really awesome place - will be coming back and showing my friends 😎

The Charmadillo is one of the most well maintained and well loved properties I’ve had the privilege to camp at! Sarah goes above and beyond as a host and has created such a unique and welcoming environment. A beautiful, secluded site perfect for catching the stars on a clear night in the big Texas sky, relaxing, and connecting with fellow travelers in the multitude of common spaces. Would 10/10 recommend for anyone traveling solo, with pets, or with family.

This was my third time staying at the Charmadillo and first time staying in the Yurt. The entire property is beautiful and I cannot say enough good things about it.
The yurt itself is tucked away in the camping area of the property. It was spacious, clean, and relaxing. I would definitely stay in the yurt again and will be back to the Charmadillo hopefully soon.
I took my small 1400 lb camper and it worked out great! The spot is near a clearing with great views which felt private but close enough to the Den and other amenities (short walk to the shower/rest room). They provide a 30/50 amp hookup but no water hookup.
The property was perfect. Quiet, relaxing, amazing amenities (sauna, cold tubs, hiking trails with views, hammocks in a grove!). Great for female solo travelers. Very responsive host, great value. Truly resort-like for a fraction of the cost. This property will certainly gain popularity over time so enjoy it while you can! Thanks Sarah!

Valley Campsite + SAUNA!
Super clean, high quality amenities. The sauna was awesome, love the smell of cedar. We tent camped, i would say if you come after a rain like we did, be careful on the road to the tent camping area as we had a Subaru forester that still slid around quite a bit in the mud. Overall I’d definitely recommend the spot, especially to tent campers who want to get away from everyone else while still having good amenities
I LOVED staying at the A frame cabins (#7) on Sarah’s land! The Charmadillo was beautifully kept and the amenities were fantastic!!
Everything you could need for camping was included with our stay, including a well stocked industrial kitchen and firewood for a campfire. We cooked all meals there during our stay, and I throughly enjoyed every moment. The view from the kitchen was beautiful.
I also especially enjoyed the sauna, it stayed on from sunset to midnight. The cold weather in February made all the warmth feel amazing. We had the sauna to ourselves during the stay and it felt cozy and romantic.
The outhouse bathroom and shower rooms were clean, air conditioned, and meticulously designed. I enjoyed all the attention to detail, like a pleasant tobacco woodsy oil diffuser and eucalyptus in the bathrooms.
My two pups also enjoyed exploring the property. There is a big field out by the tent sites that was fun to run around in. The whole property has so many spots to relax in.
I visited for my birthday and I think I might make it a yearly trip, this was one of the best camping (“glamping”) experiences I’ve ever had. I am definitely recommending this place to my friends!
We loved loved Charmadillo! Will absolutely be coming back!

It's a lovely and charming setup. Clean, cozy and thoughtful without being overly precious.
Great place for a get away! Sarah is super responsive and does a great job keeping the community places clean and organized. The tent camping is super minimal but perfect if you have the right set up. If you are allergic to Cedar I would definitely recommend bringing some allergy medicine, but other than that I would highly recommend.

Had a perfectly peaceful getaway, honestly I’m kicking myself for not booking a longer stay! Perfect for star gazing, had everything we needed and more, the land is beautiful, and the sauna was an added bonus to these chillier nights. Really looking forward to coming back!!

Wonderful property. The communal facilities (the kitchen and showers) were especially nice. Took the hottest shower of my life! Would definitely stay again.
This place was seriously amazing! We did a tent spot. But the bathrooms were perfectly clean, the shared spaces were awesome especially the commercial kitchen has everything you could possibly need. Defiantly worth the stay for us because we were doing across country, so the hot clean shower was amazing. The host was very responsive and friendly. It was about an hour and 20 mins outside of San Antonio where we were visiting the Missions. We were able to pack our tent make some hot coffee and take hot showers and be at the Missions by 9. If we weren't just passing through and could have really enjoyed the camp for all it had to offer it would have been an even better stay. It was nicely lit and the instructions leading to were precise. My husband and I were able to walk around the property, and it was really fun and pretty.
One of the all-time best, if not the best, places I’ve gone camping at. Occasionally you’ll hear a car in the distance but 90% it’s just sounds of nature. I’m actually kind of upset that I’m gonna leave such a good review because I don’t want this place to get super popular. But the amenities were awesome! Highly recommend!!
What a beautiful and thoughtful experience. Truly a pristine pocket of peace in the Texas Hill Country. We were welcomed warmly and Sarah was a gracious host.

We loved tent camping at the Charmadillo! It was quiet, peaceful, and the amenities were in excellent condition. Having a sauna onsite wasn’t something I expected to use but enjoyed every second of it. Would recommend for anyone looking to have a relaxing hill country getaway
I really enjoyed my stay! The property is beautiful and very well kept. I was camping in a roof top tent and was able to find a level and cozy camp spot in the trees. Amazing.
That’s what you need to know about The Charmadillo. I’ve stayed in AirBnBs, state parks, RV parks, and primitive camping sites. This really does give you the best of all worlds. If you’re looking for a Texas Hill Country escape, and want to connect with nature, while combatting the TX heat with a/c to sleep in, and a good, clean shower, this is it.
The property is fantastic. Perfectly nestled into a hillside, you get great views, space to hike and explore, and a true feeling of being in nature.
The common areas are kept immaculately clean, especially with how off grid it feels. The decor and touches of comfort are tasteful and feel organic. Everything feels like it’s there to enhance your experience, not just look good in a picture.
Sarah, the host, is a great communicator and seems to really value her guests’ experience.
The location is easy to access, and it’s a short drive to Bandera or Kerrville, and a great home base for exploring the Hill Country.
I hadn’t touched Hipcamp in years after my previous experience, but Sarah is doing hospitality the right way.
*this probably reads like a paid review, or ‘friends & family’, but I assure it’s not. I just really enjoyed this place.
