Sparrow Bend River Retreat

This is my third time here at Sparrow Bend Retreat. Really love camping here - we came here with a group of friends and their kids and pets. We did campsite 1 and 3. The toilets and shower are in great condition and clean. The only consideration is the hot water. It is nice and hot but sometimes it does run out. The space is spacious and quiet. I would recommend this place in a heart beat.

Campsite 4 was wonderful

Went for a solo trip and tent camping at site 4 was perfect. Lots of shade which is important because sun really bears down at height of day. Bring pop up or umbrellas if you want to hang right on the river. Site 4 is tucked back and there is room for a hammock. The water is maybe a little over 4 ft at deepest along the river nearest the campsites. Lots of shallow walk in areas for the littler ones. Full of beautiful native Texas plants and critters. This place is a real gem! Will be back.

Serene camping!

We had an amazing stay at the campsite! We stayed at Forest 2 site. We ended up taking our paddle board out on the river in the evening to enjoy the water. Would absolutely stay here again :)

My kids and I had a great time camping at Sparrow Bend River Retreat! We enjoyed the privacy, swimming in the river, and skipping rocks! The owner was very kind when I ran into an issue at the end of our stay. I most definitely recommend this place, and I will come back again!

Beautiful and maintained. Everything was very clean and the hosts were most welcoming. Water was clear, fishing was fun and just nice little get away. Highly recommend and will be coming back here soon!

We really enjoyed this site! Had an RV spot with plenty of room to ourself - didn't feel too close to anyone, although at first when pulling in we thought we were close to the other RV and in the "backyard" of one of the cabin/houses, but it didn't end up feeling like that and still felt fairly private. Having electric and a water spout was nice (although the spout was just a few inches sticking out vertically from the ground, as it's intended for an RV hookup hose), room for our pop-up camper (don't actually have an RV) plus we set up a 10x10' canopy (although there were plenty of trees in the area), and it was just a few strides to the firepit. Our site was just a couple minutes walk to the water, too. The water was so clear and cool! Not sure about the depth everywhere, but where we went was anywhere from shin to thigh deep. Some areas might have gotten a little bit deeper. We did some fishing, as well. We'd definitely recommend! Thank you, Angela, for the hospitality.

Anniversary weekend .

I just went to sparrow bend and we were in slot 2 . We have a 39ft trailer and the hook ups are the opposite side of the trailer and with the truck and trailer there is no way to do a pull through. So we backed in and had to run our septic hose uphill due to the way the terrain is in that spot. Well uphill is not what you want for a sewer hose. For the cost of a rv spot I would suggest maybe putting a slab down since there are only 2 rv spots. Now for you tent campers super cool areas down near the water. Very pretty clear water . There was no one there to speak with so you have to do so by text or email which if you have a situation you would really like to have someone to speak with . I called and no answer then after a couple of text I finally got a response but still did not help the issue .

My wife and I put up a tent for the weekend on Forest 2 and loved it! It had to tent spots of different size and tree cover. The river is crystal clear and serene, perfect for quiet morning walks. Bandera is only 20ish minutes for daytime activities too. We’re definitely coming back.

Unconventional RV parking spots, dogs constantly barking from the house next door. The bathroom toilet rooms, although mostly clean, were almost unfinished and the hand washing station was difficult to turn on and constantly dripping. The showers were primitive. The location on the river was nice.

This is such a great campsite. The scenery is beautiful, the river had plenty of water for swimming (even during this drought), and the restrooms and showers were clean. All of the campsites are close to the river and the restrooms. It was easy to find the site. There was also WiFi. I’m recommending this place to everyone I know.

Super easy process for a gorgeous location! The host was extremely responsive and able to answer all of our preliminary questions. We got to enjoy a girls weekend at River camp 4. Even with cooler, overcast weather we were able to enjoy the river and our campsite throughout the weekend. Bathrooms were well maintained and clean despite being a full campground! Site 4 was fantastic because it had shade and still easy access to the River. Can't wait to go back

Our family and dogs wholeheartedly enjoyed our stay. The land is absolutely gorgeous, the river was just the right amount of chill and clear as can be. We appreciated the cleanliness and fellow campers’ respect for the land and use of space/equipment. Angela responds to messages quickly and was helpful. The camp offers clean restrooms, showers and the small shops near by are just 8 minutes away should there be a need for forgotten items. We camped outdoors and enjoyed nature’s soundtrack under the clearest of skies ✨ . If you’re looking to reconnect with nature and absorb some rays as you chill on the river bank, this is the spot.

Vintage Riverfront Camper on Spring

Awesome little getaway, the site was nice and clean and the nature sounds at night was amazing. No lights really so you can see the clear skies beautifully. Can't wait for the water level to rise... Definitely going to be a repeat visit!

My partner and I absolutely loved staying in the scamp. It was so private and beautiful. The scamp was so cozy and we loved the outdoor deck. The directions were so clear and everything was put together so nicely. We will definitely be back!!

Great campsite for a family trip!

Sparrow Bend is a beautiful camping spot overall. The land is absolutely gorgeous, and the river is crystal clear and refreshingly ice cold—perfect for a hot day. We stayed at the River 3 tent site, which is very spacious, though we definitely wished for more shade on the sunnier days. The grounds are well maintained and feel safe, and the bathrooms were clean and sufficient for what you need. The showers are basic but functional—just be aware that the hot water runs out quickly, and there isn’t really a dry area to get dressed afterward. One thing to note: there are homes on the bluff nearby with dogs and other animals that can get a bit noisy, especially at night. That said, the campground itself was peaceful, and other campers were respectful and quiet. Fishing was enjoyable, even though we only caught a few small bass and sunfish. Overall, it’s a peaceful and scenic place to camp, with just a few minor inconveniences. Would definitely consider coming back

Campsite 4 is a win

Campsite 4 was by far the best one. You can still see the river but have some respite from the sun. Just a short walk to the bathrooms and water. The creek was crystal clear and so refreshing to play in. We can’t wait to come back. It was the perfect spot for my husband and our two young boys and another couple with two boys. We would love to come back again.

Place was very relaxing and enjoyable, we stayed at #1 riverfront which was nice! I will say it's a family spot so you will see other families and kids but it's not overly crowded because of the limited campsites. If you are looking to go with a group I'd recommend getting #1 and #2 or #3 on the riverfront thoes are the best with the most shade if it's warm! We will definitely be back !

Vintage Riverfront Camper on Spring

We loved staying at the Scamp! It’s so adorable and it was equip with everything we could have needed. The host provided very detailed directions and there are labels all over making it easy to find things. The little porch built off of it is a perfect place to view the stars and the beautiful river. There are many birds, deer, and we even had an armadillo walk right by. The dogs around the area can be pretty vocal, but inside the camper we barley heard them. Would definitely come and stay again! We had a great stay at this campsite. It’s nicely secluded and peaceful, making it the perfect escape without being too far from home. The fishing was excellent — the water was calm and we had great luck catching fish. The amenities were clean and well-maintained, making the trip both comfortable and relaxing. It’s a perfect mix of great fishing, privacy, and convenience. We’ll definitely be back!

Definitely nice place the dogs are a problem they bark quite a bit though Angela did say to let her know so they do understand it is a issue With that being said there is a burn ban which I followed and the other guests didn’t which sort of bothered me because who doesn’t love a campfire A little pricey to stay there but it is beautiful
