Since 2015 we've been continually improving our property and in 2019 had the idea to start a small campsite on the backside of our property in a private valley. A valley that while private and secluded has excellent 360 degree views.

Neighbors are far away so we have some of the darkest skies in the world not to mention peace and quiet with no traffic. We have spectacular mountain views with great sunrise and sunsets. Our terrain is the Chihuhuan desert which has cactus covered rocky mountains with all the desert plants. Although we have privacy we are only about 35 to 40 minutes from the Big Bend National Park and The Big Bend Ranch State Park. Although we are remote we have a very nice swimming pool and restaurant only about ten to fifteen minutes away. We have two cabins we rent out. The big cabin has four rooms and sleeps six. The other cabin is called the small cabin it is one room and sleeps two.

Bradley’s land was perfect. We stayed in our 2004 RWD Ford E-250 van and while the road to the site was a bit bumpy we made it without any issues. The views were amazing, the vibes were spectacular, the host was communicative and provided detailed instructions for getting to the site and around the property. Couldn’t ask for a better first Hipcamp experience. 10/10, would absolutely stay again.

We really enjoyed tent camping at Perdido campsite. We enjoyed how peaceful quiet it was out there in the desert with no neighbors. There was another campsite but they were far enough and we didn’t really hear them. I would definitely come back because it was so relaxing to get away from everything for a little while. Brad was nice and helpful. Loved sunrise on the property.

Weekend Trip to Perdido Overland Overnight Camp

Fantastic experience. Land was quiet, views were great, the host was friendly and communicative, and the stars had extremely good visibility a few days after a new moon. It took us about 1 hour to drive into Big Bend and an hour and a half to make it to the south rim trail, making it a good day trip from this destination. Our Mazda CX5 was able to handle the conditions of the dirt road leading into the property without problems.

We had a wonderful stay at Sheri and Johnnie’s property. They both came to greet us when we arrived and were incredibly welcoming. They even offered to look after our dog while we visited Hamilton Pool, which was so thoughtful. It was a perfect experience - 10/10, we’ll be back!

Sheri and Johnny were extremely kind and hospitable hosts. We enjoyed the privacy of the campsites that were available (couldn’t see any of the other guests unless you went looking)! Very convenient if you’re looking to visit Hamilton pools which is just five minutes away. Also our favorite point was that it’s in an area with little/less light pollution from the city and so we were able to get really nice stargazing views!

My family and I had an amazing time. The night sky was filled with incredible stars. Coyotes would visit our campsite at night while we were sleeping, so it’s important to keep your food stored away. Deer would visit in the mornings too. If you’re seeking privacy, this is the place to be.

Beautiful secluded spot. Responsive and helpful hosts if needed. Long bumpy dirt road on the last couple miles. Truck/suv tires are fine, but would be rough on car tires. If visiting Big Bend keep in mind it’s about 1-1.5hrs to the park entrance from there. So plan ahead. Would come back for how quiet it is and the views.

The camper was well-equipped with all the essentials, making it easy to relax and truly enjoy our time in nature. Waking up surrounded by the sounds of the forest was a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The nearby hiking trails and beautiful scenery provided endless opportunities for exploration and adventure. In the evenings, we gathered around the campfire, sharing stories and roasting marshmallows, all while soaking in the stunning starlit sky. The sense of community at Outpost 203 was evident, with fellow campers sharing tips and experiences, adding to the overall charm of our stay. If you're looking for a weekend getaway that combines comfort with the beauty of the outdoors, I highly recommend Outpost 203 and their Vintage Camper. We had such a wonderful experience staying here! The couple who runs the campsite was so kind and welcoming. They took the time to walk us around when we arrived and made sure we felt comfortable, which I really appreciated since this was my very first camping trip and I had no idea what to expect. They gave us lots of helpful suggestions for things to do in the area, and we ended up doing most of them—we were so glad we did! The site itself had running water, which made things even easier. Overall, it was such a warm and memorable experience, and I’d highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a welcoming and peaceful place to camp.
