Wimberley Dark Night Sky Camp
9 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Wimberley, TXOnce Cook Ranch, this over grazed land is being revitalized. Located in unicorporated Hays co., in the center of the county, and north of Wimberley. Now an organic and pesticide free garden, our home is surrounded by Texas Hill Country wilderness that we know our guests will enjoy. Family guests park at the top of the property, in self contained campers. Amazing night sky views and wake up to incredible nature. Tents may camp almost anywhere. Primitive camping in our wildlife sanctuary, on the ledge of our hill side, away from the hives. A game fence protects our guests from wildlife, and our recapped and graded hard packed limestone road base driveways lead you up to sites to choose from. Under the stars, under some oaks, or under some junipers, at the barn... all have great privacy. Tent campers can also camp anywhere around the barn, in the field meadow in front of the barn or in the trees next to the barn stables door. Extremely quiet, peaceful and wild, your view of Wimberley valley, and a visit to Jacobs Well Nature Preserve on Mount Sharp Road will make this stop worth it, as we are only an 8 min slow drive to Jacobs Well Preserve. Welcome to our Bee and Berries Farm. Additionally you can take advantage of local wineries, distilleries, farms, historical centers, parks and activities listed below. Situated along a one-mile stretch of the spring-fed Blanco River, the small but mighty Blanco State Park is very family-friendly, offering the spectacular Falls Dam, nature trails, fishing, tubing, kayaking, and deep water for a good, refreshing swim. The stocked river is teeming with largemouth and Guadalupe bass, catfish, sunfish, and rainbow trout, and can be an excellent place for beginning anglers (you can even borrow equipment for free). Swimming at holes, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, and birding are a few of the quintessential outdoor Texan activities visitors enjoy most at Pedernales State Park, located near the area of Texas Hill Country where former President Lyndon B. Johnson grew up. Next to the famed Pedernales River, the park is an hour west of Austin, an hour east of Fredericksburg, and about 20 minutes from downtown Johnson City. Missing Hotel
6 sites · Lodging100 acres · Marble Falls, TXDisappearing in the woods doesn’t have to be a bad thing. We just prefer to call it forest bathing... Imagine a place that makes you feel like your experience is the only thing that matters. A place that thinks of everything, so you have the space in your mind to explore what matters most to you. A place that inspires and provides the means to help you turn those ideas into something tangible. A place that imbues everything with purpose, including you. Disconnect from distraction. Reconnect with yourself. Choose your level of immersion with our unique shelters. Villa? Geodesic dome? Whatever your preference, each shelter provides a dreamy cocoon to rest, reflect and recharge. They're outfitted with the luxuries you're used to and some you're not. For us, off grid doesn't mean out of touch, at least not entirely. Remember phone booths? Walkies? You'll be just fine. * We reserve the right to prohibit use of the fire pits and burning based on local weather conditions. There may be times that winds and/or humidity can create a fire concern and we will not allow burning during those times. ** Please note: Cell reception and wifi can be spotty. We're happy to point out the best "phone booth" spots for the former, and we are constantly working to improve the latter. We appreciate your patience as we perfect our little piece of the wild. That said, in the meantime, we do urge you to embrace the option to disconnect when possible. We've found it can be quite liberating to go missing for a little while :)

Boulderdash Cabin & RV Park
9 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents5 acres · Bandera, TXHello, I’m Carol-anne, my husband Lyn and I spent several years searching for a Hill Country hideout. After not being able to find anything that would meet our needs we had all but given up on the idea. So we decided we should just buy ourselves an RV and go wherever the wind blew us. In 2016 we did just that! We bought ourselves “The Land Yacht” as I have come to call our Heartland Cyclone. We spent 2016 and 2017 touring the country. In February 2017 we decided to attend the “Cowboy Mardi Gras” in Bandera, TX and found a great spot to camp on Lake Medina. My dad joined us on that trip and I think we all kind of fell in love with the place! Lyn and I (always dreaming) decided to look and see what sort of real estate there was around the lake. We have always argued about lake vs. river. Lyn likes the lake and I like the river. Anyway, after some searching online we decided to go up in person one day and just “look”. Well.......long story short. The first place we looked at was Boulderdash, it met all our needs. Boulderdash came complete with 3 acres on the river at the mouth of Lake Medina. It had a cabin already on it that was built in 2009 and 5 RV hookups. PERFECT! We listed the cabin as a vacation rental and started to refurbish the RV hookups and sites, 5 years later we are retired here and continuing to make improvements. We named it Boulderdash because of the huge boulders out front and because Boulderdash is defined as “Something that does not have or make sense”. Which was perfectly suited to this endeavor! The idea was just to pay the property taxes with the cabin rental until we could retire and build our home. The lot next to ours became available so we purchased it. Boulderdash was growing faster than we ever could have imagined! What started out as a temporary rental quickly became a full blown campground! Boulderdash continues to exceeded our expectations and has become a place full of fun memories, not only for ourselves but for whomever visits.

In the famous Texas Hill Country, Austin is easily the state's most diverse city. That diversity extends to the geography surrounding the city, where you'll find a wide variety of outdoor activities. Just 13 miles away is McKinney Falls State Park—hit the Onion Creek Hike and Bike Trail for 3 miles of fun exercise. For a more sedate evening, bring a fishing pole to Onion Creek itself.

The enormous Lake Travis is a popular destination for water enthusiasts. With about 270 miles of shoreline, there are plenty of access points here. Pace Bend Park makes a good one for camping. Pitch a tent on a Lake Travis overlook to enjoy a beautiful sunrise.

Pedernales Falls State Park sits about 30 minutes West of Austin. This one's an excellent option if you enjoy nature watching. Bring binoculars! The region hosts over 150 bird species, some rare and endangered. The mighty Pedernales River and its related waterfall are sights in themselves!

Inks Lake State Park is more of a drive, about 90 minutes northwest of Austin. The titular lake allows for swimming, water skiing, fishing, and scuba diving. The park store rents a wide variety of boat types, too. Get yourself a canoe, kayak, or paddle boat and enjoy the water!
