Pitch your tent or boondock your RV on the Paluxy River under giant pecan trees. Enjoy the scenic view of our beautiful river. Our private property is located near the historic square of glen rose but feels like you are miles away in the country. Have fun kayaking, swimming, fishing, or just sit back and enjoy the views. We have 5 different spacious sites to choose from. Most have a tree break area in-between for privacy. Or rent all 5 and have the entire property to yourself. Updated river photos will be posted on our Facebook page, or message me for updates. Unfortunately, I'm not able to control the river. It goes up and down depending on rain and temperatures. The river gets pretty low during July and August. Wheeler Branch Reservoir(only a few miles from camp) is a great spot to swim and fish when the river water levels are lower. Very small lake that is good for swimming and kayaking with a dock, clear waters. We have 5 different sites. All of them overlook the Paluxy River, have rock fire pits, seating areas, patios, and stairs down to riverbed. You will have access to one of the most beautiful parts of the Paluxy River. In order to reserve a spot you must be 21 or over. This is not extremely remote place where you can party and go crazy. We want everyone to be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the views. Site Big Pecan: This is the farthest site upriver and has one of the largest pecan trees I've ever seen. The trees provide great shade cover during the summer. This site has an awesome rock patio seating area with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs overlooking the river with stairs to provide easy access down into the water. It also has a rock firepit with 2 wooden Adirondack chairs on a rock patio. Also includes a kids sand box, and a picnic table with shade umbrella, and numerous extras available to rent. Site 1 Limestone ledge: Firepit seating area overlooking the river with 4 Adirondack chairs and a shade umbrella, separate rock patio closer to the water overlooking the river with 2 wooden rocking chairs, stairs down to riverbed, huge pecan trees, kids play set with sand box, 1 picnic table, shade umbrella, and a 10' x 10' raised tent deck platform overlooking the river. Site 2: Firepit seating area overlooking limestone riverbed with 3 Adirondack chairs, picnic table with a shade umbrella, 10' x 10' raised tent / deck platform, stairs down to riverbed and shallow area of the river for kids to play. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy. Site 3: Firepit seating area overlooking the riverbed, 2 wooden Adirondack chairs, 2 picnic tables, 1 shade umbrella, 2 sets of rock stairs to the riverbed, shallow area of the river for kids to play. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy. Site 4 Farthest site downstream. Nice rock patio overlooking the river with two wooden rocking chairs. Easy access for RVs and trailers. Rock stairs to the river for easy access. Fire pit with rock patio around it with 4 wooden Adirondack chairs. Picnic table with shade umbrella. Kids sand box. Shallow areas for kids to play in the river. Deeper fishing hole about 100 feet down river. Great area to sit in the river with a lawn chair. Awesome view of the river with trees / shrubs on each side for privacy. A lot of people buy two sites for more privacy and room for larger groups. For example, many purchase Big Pecan and site 1 together. Or sites 2 and 3. kayaks, wood, outdoor games, frisbee golf baskets and disc, grill and utensils, propane firepit, and other extras available for rent. Please select those during checkout Tips: Bring river shoes, nose plugs, swimming essentials. Parts of the river can be very slippery. Bring life jackets, especially for children. Bring the essentials for any camping trip including: sunscreen, bug spray, anti-itch meds, etc. Chairs and sunshades to sit in the river are always popular. The Paluxy river ranges from just a few inches deep to 5 feet deep in our camping area. There are more swimming holes a little deeper up and downstream. Water is available at the entrance. No restroom - pack in, pack out. Bring your own potty and water. If you are not familiar with dry camping do some research. There are all types of methods for restrooms, heating, cooling, etc. available now to make it enjoyable. Dogs are allowed on leash. Please do not allow your dog to roam freely if they are aggressive in nature. Clean up after them. Cancellation Policy: You may cancel up to 3 days before your stay for a full refund. Weekends during peak seasons (March - June & September - November) are non-refundable unless canceled and another camper reserves the site. I do offer partial refunds for extreme weather conditions. Site: Big Pecan This is the farthest site up river. It contains one of the largest pecan trees I've ever seen. Nice shade during the summer months. Contains a rock patio that overlooks the river and stairs for easy access. Or leave the kids at home and sit back and enjoy the beautiful view of the river. Site 4 is the farthest site down river. Has a rock patio and stairs overlooking the river. Includes a firepit with rock patio seating area. The river is also great for little ones or sitting in the river with a lawn chair. The river widens out and has shallow rapids. There is also a deeper spot not to far down river that is good for fishing with small bass and channel catfish. Rock patio overlooking the river. The site was well kept and like other reviewed stated the road is right there but it's not horribly bad. The place is very beautiful and although we did not go the river. It looks awesome! The host was very responsive. I would recommend the site and would return!

We loved, loved, loved this site and really all the sites at the facility. It was amazing being right on the river, and we look forward to having many repeat trips. We purchased firewood, and it was so nice to have everything there when we arrived. We were able to have our travel trailer on the site with lots of space. Speaking of space, the distance between the sites is grand, and you do not feel like you are on top of each other. Such a better experience than other local camp sites. You will hear cars on the road, but that is just the nature of this site. We did not mind the car sounds, and there was not a baseball game going on at the local ball park that was close to the site, as others mentioned. Just a great time of the year to go. Enjoy, slow down, and really get away.

This was our second time at Pecans on the Paluxy and it was just as good as the first time. Love the ease and the facilities. It's great to have the chairs and the picnic table and my kids love the sandpit. Paul is such a responsive host and always answered any questions quickly. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to our next stay!!

Overall we had a good experience. A decent size lot to put a tent down. If you are into setting a tent with other people close by it's would be for you. There was a group of campers maybe 30ft from us through a thin wooded area and a driving trail. I was under the impression that the site was away from others but that was purely based off assumption on my part. It is maybe 20ft from a road so you hear vehicles drive by all hours of the night. It's NOT a constant occurrence because it is not a super busy road but it's enough to take you out of the moment from time to time. I know this all sounds like I am cherry picking negative things but I did have a good time overall. It was pretty quiet around 11:30ish. You could hear the crickets, the coyotes, and frogs. Being from Mississippi, I go on these excursions that remind me of home. This was nice. I was with my family, which made it twice as nice. Being in a small town felt comforting. We even walked the main road just to do it. You could see the stars pretty well too as there was little light pollution out there. I wish there was more to do without leaving the area but overall it really was a good experience. The only reason I list the negatives before the positives is so people will know what to expect prior to going.

We had a great time on our camp out. Paul handled some noisy campers who ignored the quiet time rule at the site next to us with efficiency and the problem was solved the next morning! We enjoyed kayaking and the view was beautiful!

My family enjoyed this spot so much we came back for a second time this Fall. Stayed at Campsite 4 this time, it was bigger and felt more private. It’s super convenient to purchase wood from Paul so that it’s just waiting at your camp when you get there. This shallow section of the Paluxy is perfect for kids to either use a kayak or walk out into the river for a fun time.

Beautiful spot on the river and camp sites are very well taken care of and spacious. The baseball/softball lights and shenanigans led to some later and earlier noise and light than desired but that was in the reviews and we knew what to expect with an easy to reach off the road place. Fishing was decent for the kids and all very accessible down the walkway and on the limestone ledge.

We had a perfect time at campsite three. We were able to watch the World Series game while grilling dinner on the beautiful fire pit overlooking the river. I saw that another review noted the traffic noise. Yes, there is traffic on the road by the site, but for us it was no problem at all. This was our second visit here and we are already planning our trip back!

Site 3 - Patio w/ River View
We absolutely adored this site. The host has gone above and beyond with the extras. Our site included a nice flagstone patio, comfy Adirondack chairs, and a great view of the river. There is a very large tent pad covered with gravel, which was flat and easy to put our tent up. Our site also included kayaks and a hammock. Our residential area is under a bun ban, so we drove the 5 hours north to enjoy 2 nights chatting around a big campfire. It was worth every second. There is moderate road noise, but its not a "busy" road as one review mentioned. Unfortunately for us, there was an all day baseball tournament nearby, so we spent the day listening to cheering (but that's likely just a seasonal thing). We will definitely be back, and next time bring some friends.

I enjoyed myself! Slept here for two nights. Its a big lot! Right next to the other two and separated by trees but still a big lot. Furniture is well kept. Replied to my messages promptly. Loved the river view. Saw Deer and fish as i walked the river. Theres a few baseball fields across the street and an adorable town right down the street with shops and restaurants.

This is an excellent location! You can hear a little noise from the ballfields on sunday and the distant highway but heavily outweighed by the secluded spot, river access, and proximity to town

This is by far and away our favorite place to camp! The river access is steps away and full of memories just waiting to be made! The land is clean and everything is well marked. It’s close enough to town to get whatever you need but feels like you are away from it all. Great place to fish and explore the Paluxy.

Great site! A bit of road noise but the site is so accommodating and scenic it didn’t bother us. I loved that it had a sandbox for the kids and chairs around the fire pit already. We will come back.

Paul’s site is great. The fishing was fantastic, the water was deep enough in this part of the Paluxy to fish, swim, and kayak even in September. Also really shallow areas for the very young kids. Renting kayaks and buying firewood from Paul was very convenient (saved a lot of room in my truck for everything else). Our family of 4 stayed at campsite #1. Great view of the river, felt private enough for having neighbors at the sites adjacent. Only critique for this spot is the Friday Night Lights - when the home team is doing well the train horn goes off quite a bit at the Glen Rose high school football stadium. Great spot on the river with good seating, fire pit, hammock and privacy. We loved having a quick getaway.
