Haiku, the canine co host
Ashera was a great host. She even offered us extra sleeping bags when my girlfriend mentioned we were cold in the ones we brought. The spot is right on the lake and we got to use the kayaks they have available. Their dog Haiku was the highlight of our stay. He kept us company during our entire stay.

Dream Nature Hideaway
The Lil Gazebo at West Winds Sanctuary was a dream!! The photos don't do justice to the beauty of the location. From our little screened-in pad, we had a stunning view through the trees and down to the water. A little path to access the water, kayaks available for us to use to explore more of the fall foliage on the lake. It was ideal. Our dog loved being able to run around, swim in the lake, and play with Ashera's sweet dog, Haiku. We also met the most lovely couple in the communal kitchen and would swap stories over hot apple cider at the end of the day. It made for a perfect first trip to the Adirondacks and we would love to stay again.

Eden in the Adirondacks
Is it the land? Is it the water? Is it the people? West Winds Sanctuary is incomparably enchanting.
There is so much to do in the area. We came wit big plans for all the other things we’d do. Then the land wrapped around us. Right away it felt like it was sharing secrets. This path between the trees comes alive with the light of early morning. This spot by the lake has moss as thick as a shag carpet. This time of evening is when the loons begin their song.
Life developed a rhythm of its own. One moment we were wondering if we’d be able to leave thoughts of work behind. The next we were paddleboarding on the still lake at night, watching shooting stars reflecting in the water beneath our feet.
We didn’t know it, but we were joining fellow travelers. We met them around the fire, around the water, on the paths between the trees. Quickly they felt like friends. Then the sanctuary began to feel like home. We left feeling we were carrying a piece of the place with us when we left.
You won’t understand it until you spend time here. Not for one night. What about a week? If you’re like us, it still won’t feel like enough.

A Tranquil Getaway
Khanna Camp was an awesome secluded campsite for our couple days around Lake Placid and Saranac Lake.
Teela (hoping I spelled that right!) and Haiku were awesome hosts and we loved taking a morning swim in the lake.
Definitely wished our stay was a bit longer so that we could've enjoyed paddling on the lake!
But I would definitely come back here to take advantage of Ashera's meditation, yoga, and other classes when she is in town!

A wooded lakeside refuge was just what I needed for a few days of downtime. Ashera brings great host energy to the experience, and I can't wait to go back again.

The site looks even better than the pictures. And the use of kayaks, hammocks and the fun hangout/game room made it extra special.

Beautiful spot
It was a beautiful spot! Adhera is a happy host, glad to share her property and have people around. It was very warm and welcoming and the lake is gorgeous. I fell asleep watching the trees turn black and eventually disappear to the starry skies.

Ashera and team were friendly, generous and welcoming. The lake is beautiful and our site was private. The Westwinds Sanctuary is remote, yet close to many terrific (other) places (e.g., Lake Clear, Haystack Mt., Paul Smiths, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and Lake Placid). Great stay - thanks Ashera :).

You got to go there to see
This place is perfect. The tents are cozy, the people are chill. Peaceful. It is at the end of the lake. You can just lay on the lawn see the beautiful lake.

We had such a wonderful time at West Winds. It truly is a special place! Thank you for welcoming our rambunctious kids and providing some peace and serenity! We especially enjoyed the beautiful views, the breeze in the tall pines, kayaking and paddle boarding, and I of course enjoyed the daily yoga! Looking forward to coming back one day!

Such a peaceful place! Absolutely gorgeous. Silence is everywhere in the surrounding nature. We had yoga classes in the morning with Melissa and other guests followed by snacks and home-made tea. The lake is right by the tents, perfect for a morning dive and bath! I’m so glad I found out about that spot. It’s a hidden gem, and I hope it stays like this :) lots of good energy there. Thanks again, can’t wait to come back.
