Great place for a beginners backpacking trip. We stayed at campsite #6. It was very secluded and quiet. You can walk from the coast camp sites on a short trail to the beach. Huge Beach with beautiful sand and not too many people around.

Weekend Trip to The Mojo River Spot in the redwoods

Joelle's Compound: With limited parking and accommodations, it felt very private on the property. Each camp is quite separate from the next and ours, the one with the tire swing, had a sweet canopy of trees and an awesome look out on the river. We loved that there was a table and a canopy available for us as well as wood! Returning ASAP! Super dog friendly and right up the river from Steelhead beach.

We loved the charming campsite within walking distance of Bolinas. The sites are somewhat close together however the extra amenities (hot tub, shower, outdoor kitchen, etc) more than compensate. It’s the perfect spot to hang out or explore everything Marin has to offer.

I loved camping at this spot, we had had so much fun. The camp spot has a beautiful view all around and is in a nice quiet secluded area. One issue I did not foresee is the fog makes everything outside very very wet when you wake up so make sure to put everything away before you go to sleep other than that it was a blast.

2 nights at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Glamping

Sugarloaf is an amazing camping location. The camp hosts made it even better. They are kind, friendly, and very helpful. The set up was great. Morning sun and afternoon shade was ideal for late May.

Beautiful site, beautiful location, nice and secluded and the weather was really nice. only issue was that around 6pm we started getting harassed by a very bold skunk but that is no fault of the site. would recommend and will definitely be back.

I liked Cynthia's land because it was right off the highway. I stayed during the week which was relatively quiet. I awoke and left early in the morning.

As advertised. Enjoyed my night- they had everything need to grill. Outdoor Shower was nice- the bathroom sink was at a drip at best. However, lots of other places to wash hands as needed.

Good spot, very convenient to Half Moon Bay area. The location was easy to find and very clean. As advertised there is road noise but it was not unexpected. Plenty of birds singing and roosters crowing to enjoy listening to. Porta Potty was clean and well stocked. We initially pulled in about 2:30 and lounged for a bit, enjoying the empty site before heading to the beach and then dinner and some music in HMB. We made it back to camp about 10:00 and 2 other vehicles were there with tents set up, plenty of room for all of us. Our neighbors left bright and early, a very quiet departure. We prepared coffee and breakfast as we soaked up the sunshine. The wild flowers were bountiful as a red tailed hawk glided above us. Overall it was a great stop along Hwy 1 and we look forward to visiting again.

2 nights at Estero San Antonio Wonderland

I loved spending two nights in the Blue Heron. It's such a cozy space that was perfect for a solo getaway. I enjoyed waking up surrounded by trees and bird song while having all the creature comforts of a comfy bed, a nice little kitchen for cooking, and lovely farm fresh eggs. Also, it's close to some of Marin and Sonoma counties most beautiful beaches and forests. Highly recommend!

Loved our experience and will definitely return! Beautiful farm with sheep and chickens (and fresh eggs of course!) and the amenities (sinks, shower, etc.) made it so easy and relaxing.

We wanted to try something new instead of a big campground and hopefully something close to our son’s family. We heard of Hipcamp from friends and looked it up . Found Joseph’s place in Occidental with 3 separate sites, all with water and electrical hookups, which were a bonus. I had many questions since this was our first time with Hipcamp and Joseph was quick to respond. Sites #2 & 3 are in our opinion a great setup for travel trailers and all 3 for camper vans. If you want some peace and quiet from the outside world , this is the place 😊

This place was amazing!! Especially awesome was the fact that were the only campers on the redwood side, so it was silent the whole time. But even besides that, it’s such a beautiful hidden spot and the women there who helped us with check-in and such was so nice. The creek is also so beautiful. There is a large open field area but the three redwood campsites are secluded so your tent is hidden. I would come back here in a heartbeat and plan to in the future. The note on needing either 4WD or AWD is very true too…the road down to the campsite is steep and has deep ridges from winter rains so my 4wD got a workout!

Weekend Trip to Salmon Creek Ranch

We had such an amazing, peaceful, and memorable time here. It was the first time my girls went camping and they are hooked. It’s exactly what I wanted them to experience. Not a lot of people and just pure nature. The duck eggs were a nice addition and we were so close to Bodega Bay. We will definitely be back again and again!

There are 3 options: Shaded Oak ($49) quiet, private, for vans, small trailer or tent; has propane fire pit Married Manzanitas ($49) is a very large, privately wooded site that is walk-in or requires 4wd/ground clearance (drive in at your own risk, or park and walk in), tent only, or also offers an optional Cabin for +$30 per night ($79) Coral Cabin on the hilltop ($109/night, + $30 cleaning fee) is closest to the civilized amenities, electricity, wifi etc and has a TV with roku. Your toilet and shower are still outside, but this is the closest to a hotel experience with clean sheets ready on your arrival. Cabin has AC for hot summer days, and a private deck with dinner bar around back. All sites have access to the hilltop Recharge Station, recently cleaned up! Recharge Station has an outdoor shower, two bathtubs, tables and chairs, and a large stainless steel countertop with sink. If multiple sites are occupied, Coral Cabin has priority for use of facilities before 9am and after 5pm. Shaded Oak and Married Manzanitas guests can use the facilities between 9am-5pm, being mindful of each other's privacy and/or coordinating shower times. Each site has its own compost toilet, and Married Manzanitas has its own ambient-temperature shower. As much as possible, guests should use the toilet in their own sites. Slide Ranch Campsites

Slide Ranch is a nonprofit organization established in 1970, becoming one of the first Park Partners in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The tent-only campsite area is 1/4 mile hike (about 10 minutes, mostly-flat) from the parking lot and is not accessible by vehicle. Campers must park in the designated parking lot and hike into the campsite area. We provide wheelbarrows to help transport your personal items to the area. Campers are not permitted to sleep in their cars, vans, or campers in the parking lot. Minors aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult; no drop offs or pick ups permitted. No pets allowed; service animals are permitted. Tents and gear are not included; please bring and pitch your own tents. Bring your own food (there is a cooler and dry food storage container) or plan to enjoy dining in Muir Beach. We do not have showering facilities or flush toilets. The composting toilet at the campsite is temporarily closed, but Porta-potties are available around the property. Soap is provided for hand washing. Water in all Slide Ranch taps is potable for refilling water bottles/jugs. There is no running water at the campsite but there will be containers of water out there for use in hand washing, dish washing, and limited for drinking. Slide Ranch does not have any concessions on site. Please plan to bring any snacks or picnic items you’d like to enjoy while enjoying the ranch. Per GGNRA regulations, campfires and open flames of any kind are not allowed out at the campsite meadow or inside the Geodesic Dome as there is no running water. Portable camp stoves and BBQs are strictly prohibited. Cooking is only allowed on the provided propane stove located inside the Dome. Slide Ranch is located on the Marin coast, on land that has a rich history in connecting people to food. The Miwok once fished and foraged for food at this site, and in the late 19th century Portuguese dairy farmers purchased the land and produced milk and butter for residents of San Francisco. In 1969, 134 acres of this fertile coastline were rescued from commercial development and purchased by the Nature Conservancy. Slide Ranch offers camping to fund summer camp scholarships and other programs throughout the year.

Finley Camp is nestled along Finley Creek in West Sonoma County. Campsites are located in open flats surrounded by Coast Doug Fir, Alder, and California Bay forests. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate, and access to a porta potty and hand washing station. The campsites are located past the end of the county road allowing for a quiet peaceful experience. Enjoy a quiet stroll on site, the surrounding communities of Bodega, Bodega Bay, Valley Ford, and Tomales, or just enjoy a quiet day in camp. Our sites are located approximately 20 minutes from Bodega Bay. The campsites are 2.5 miles from the coast and the weather can be unpredictable. As a general rule, it is very similar to that of San Francisco. All camp sites are situated in a valley that offers protection from the coastal winds. The have both morning and evening shade. Sites #2, #6, #7, and #11 have the most space, while sites #4, #7, #8, #9 and #11 offer the most privacy. Sites 1-3, any combination of 5-7, and 12-13 are well suited for groups. Other site groupings work well depending on the number of sites being reserved. Site #8 is unique in that it has a wood deck/platform for tents. There are also NO wood fires allowed at site #8 as it is under the tree canopy. A propane firepit is provided for your use. You can bring a 5 gallon propane tank from home, or a full one is available for rent on site. We have beef available for purchase from calves raised exclusively on our ranch. This beef is 100% grass fed and finished and never given grain of any kind. We have various cuts available such as steaks, ground, roasts, ribs, or other various specialty cuts. All beef is cut and wrapped by a USDA certified butcher. It is raised in an organic manner from cows that freely roam on the pastures of the coastal hills we call home. For further information or for a price sheet, please inquire with the camp host. Well behaved dogs are welcome at Finley Camp. All dogs must be kept on leash at all times while on the property. There are no exceptions to this. Finley Camp is located on an active cattle ranch and directly adjacent to a neighboring ranch with cattle. Also be sure to check out our orchard tours. The apples ripen from Late July thru late November. We'll take you to our family orchard where you can pick apples, pears, or blueberries in season and taste yummy treats out of our family garden.

The family farm and residence were established during the late 1970s on the site of the historic Peter’s Dairy Ranch. The Meadow Grove of Hands Full Farm

The Meadow Grove campsites are located near the historic Narrow Gauge Railroad bed on a family owned working ranch in coastal Northern California. The camp sites are nestled in a pasture and grove of mixed Eucalyptus, willow and cypress trees. The sites are perfect for tents or camper vans, or small trailers. [When we open in the spring, the grass can be 'slippery' and it is recommended you have 4WD. Around mid-June it is dried out enough for 2WD access to all sites] there are no hook-ups for RVs . Specifics about these campsites are: They each come with a picnic table. The grounds are a working ranch, so there is variations of the soil- some lumps and bumps and general natural state of a pasture v. a groomed lawn. Site #1, #2, #3, and #4 have the most level areas for parking and tent-ing. Up until mid-June, we recommend #1 for 2WD access. Campervans that do not have 4WD may have trouble accessing other sites. Please remember this when you book! *Campers who "change sites" without written approval by the host will be charged double!* There is a composting camp toilet, we do not have running water at the campground. The ranch itself is 300 acres of rolling hills pasture, with hilltop views of the Estero Americano valley. The Meadow Grove is home to many varieties of raptors and other birds-providing excellent bird watching. Seasonally there are blackberries to fill your containers, and some hiking. We are mere minutes from the quaint towns of Valley Ford, Tomales, and Dillon Beach, and a short drive from Bodega, Bodega Bay or Marshall, Pt. Reyes Station and Inverness. Nearby attractions include: Sonoma Coast beaches, Pt. Reyes National Seashore, coastal hiking trails, local farm-to-table eateries. Inland attractions include: redwoods, wine tasting, Russian River activities and so much more. The ranch borders Hwy 1, so there is some degree of road noise. Traffic usually dies down mid afternoon, and isn't too much of a disturbance. Virtually all traffic on our stretch of road is daytime traffic. There can be however, some heavy weekend traffic during the day with car clubs and motorcycle riders enjoying the coastal highway. *The Friendly Gray Cat's name is Boots!*

Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. We listed the site for up to 12 campers but feel free to reach out if your group is bigger. Please check out the newest addition of our cabin bunkhouse. Take a look at the pictures - you can add it to your stay as an extra when you book! The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward. 'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here. This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground. Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days. This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers. Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.
