Welcome to our family land! As an educator, I run the camp during summers primarily. As a proudly affordable option in Calistoga, all camps are set up to be user ready and campers are responsible for leaving the sites cleaned up and “better” than you found it. If this sounds good, read on! We offer rustic nature, space for tents and smaller RVs, and two levels of cabin camping just 10 minutes outside of our hometown, Calistoga. Our land is beautiful with amazing views and lots of wildlife - which comes with your fair share of roughing it. All sites have their own compost toilet and handwashing station. For glamping experience, CORAL CABIN guests have hot shower access at the Hilltop “Cafe,” which also has a grill, sink, power outlets and Wi-Fi, coffee maker, microwave and toaster, and bathtubs for an extra charge. Water is precious up here so please conserve. *Coral Cabin is at Hilltop “Cafe” and has the only access to the amenities here. This is also the largest, flattest spot for and RV, with great views and cabin access if you wanted. This cabin is our premier ‘roughing it’ experience complete with electricity, WI-FI, TV with Roku, and an AC unit. *Married Manzanitas campsite or cabin rental is high clearance or walk-in only (no RV access) and has an ambient temperature shower at their site fed by a hose. (Hose may need to be turned on at hilltop.) If you choose to rent this cabin, this is our really roughing it experience with no Wi-Fi or electricity, just walls, high ceiling, floor, door and bed (comfy futon). It is very peaceful. Camp has a propane fire pit on request, camp stove, and table/chair seating areas (for 2). *Shaded Oak is furthest from hilltop but can accommodate small trailers (up to 15 feet…), also great sunsets and a rough trail down to our ‘fern gully’ area. Lovely site with relatively easy access to the driveway. Currently no shower access, but has propane fire pit, table and chairs, and water for handwashing. All sites: Pack your trash (just to the trashbin at the bottom of hill)! Add mulch to the toilets! Leave it better! We are proud to be an affordable option in Calistoga and If you can read and agree to the respectful use guidelines that will be sent to you when you request to book, we would be happy to host you!

One acre is our family compound, two acres are forest preserve, and the other two acres are the orchard - where the parking sites have been integrated. The orchard has many different fruit trees including heritage Gravenstein apples that were originally planted by the family from Italy. The Gravensteins are ripe between mid July to mid August. The orchard borders a forest with old growth Redwoods, Douglas Fir, Bay Laurel, Oaks, and Madrone. Some wildlife passes through the orchard, especially birds. The site offers great star gazing, sun rises, moon rises and access to a charming walk on a beautiful country lane for sunsets. We highly recommend visiting for the Spring bloom in April and May for a temperate tropical experience. A Two minute drive to Occidental, and a twenty minute drive to the beaches of the Sonoma Coast and the Russian River. A great location to explore and enjoy nearby small towns, wineries, dairies, hiking, bicyling, surfing, kayaking, and farmers markets... or just relax at the site, make a picnic, and bask in the tranquility...

Kings Mountain Camp w/ ocean views

Breathe deep in nature on our 10-acre property on a Kings Mountain, California hillside. Our generously sized Safari-style tents offer a unique blend of comfort and adventure. Each tent has beds, down comforters, crisp cotton linens, lights, and more. Outdoor and indoor furniture and little touches that will make your stay unique. Each tent is perched on a sturdy wooden platform and features a fully furnished deck, providing a cozy space to relax and soak in the breathtaking ocean (Half Moon Bay views) and forest views (Kings Mountain). All tents include a mini fridge and a stove, ideal for light cooking, intimate fireside storytelling, and warmth during cool days. We suggest you bring easy-to-prep food, drinks, warm clothes, hiking shoes, and a beanie, as it can get chilly without notice. Your designated parking space is a 6-minute walk from the campsite (downhill on arrival, then back uphill (steep) in the forest), so we recommend traveling light. Our campsite is nestled within the same property as our charming little farm. If you're interested in meeting our friendly farm animals, get in touch, and we'll be delighted to arrange a visit at a time that works best for you and them. Our goats roam the land all day and may visit you for pets and nuzzles. They are gentle, but please do not feed or let them inside the tent. Recharge from the day with a hot shower. Grab your fresh towels from your tent and go to your outdoor allocated bathhouses, where you’ll find an indoor shower and well-appointed restrooms. They are nicely lit and stocked with bath products. A sink area is available for dish clean-up, and a bbq/picnic area. KM is famous for its hiking and biking trails nestled amongst the redwoods. The closest is a 15-minute walk from our campsite, and others are within a 15-minute car ride. Tent 01 (180sqft) accommodates 3 people in a queen-size bed and a daybed. Tent 02 (210sqft) accommodates 4 people: two in a queen-size bed and two in a bunk bed and an outdoor suspended net Tent 03 (210sqft) accommodates 4 people: two in a queen-size bed and two in a twin bed + daybed and an outdoor propane stove, hangout deck Recently added: an apartment w a hot tub Kids under the age of 8 are not allowed. Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Glamping

We have four lovely Glamping sites at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park and 25 miles of hiking trails, nestled in the glorious chaparral of the Mayacama Mountain Range and Sonoma Hills, deep in the heart of wine country. The cost is $150 per night on weekends (Fri and Sat) and $125 per night on weekdays (Sun-Thurs). There is a 2-night minimum stay required between Memorial Day and Labor Day. In our family-friendly campground, our tents are 16-Foot Canvas and come with one queen-size bed, two futon lounge chairs (May be converted to twin beds), rugs, tables, lighting, and complementary firewood the first night. At no additional cost, we can add up to two twin beds to each tent upon request to sleep up to 6 people. 8 people max allowed at the campsite. The glamping sites include a picnic table, fire ring, outdoor seating, and room for additional tents if desired. All sites are easy walking distance to flush toilets and a bathhouse, with large, clean, coin operated hot shower rooms. There is no cell service in the park, but free WiFi is available at the Visitor Center. PLEASE NOTE that Bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets) IS NOT included in a standard rental, but is available as an add-on. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bedding whenever possible. If no bedding is added, we will assume a one-queen setup with mattress covers only. We kindly ask guests to provide at least 48-hour notice if bedding will be required. We will always try to accommodate last-minute requests, but we cannot guarantee this. PETS and SMOKING ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE our glamping tents! This is strictly enforced, and you WILL be charged a $150 cleaning fee for any violation of this policy. Parking: Your reservation includes parking for one vehicle. There is an additional $10 per night per vehicle charge for more than one vehicle, which you can pay for at the Visitor's Center upon check-in. Please note that a $25 setup/cleaning fee is charged per reservation, plus a booking fee. Since 2012, operation of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park has been spearheaded by the Sonoma Ecology Center. Operating under AB42, the SEC efforts have resulted in a revitalized park that engages with all of our community and welcomes visitors from all over the country and the world.

The Redwood Alliance camp is just a few miles up Bohemian Hwy if you dare to zip line through the redwood canopy forest or Armstrong woods in Guerneville for those that would rather keep their feet on the ground and take a hike to enjoy the majestic beauties. Duncan's Mill is a quaint town (less than 3 miles from us) on your way to Jenner by the Sea which is just about 9 miles to the west of us. You can take a gorgeous coastal drive to Bodega that is only 15 miles away. Historic Fort Ross is another beautiful 20 mile coastal drive. Bike Enthusiast love the back roads out here and the Biggest Attraction Is… Wait for it…. Wineries are everywhere! During the summer there are several Music Venues close by too. The Rio Nido Roadhouse has outdoor music on the weekends. Rockin the River is every other Thursday in Guerneville. The Monte Rio Variety Show just celebrated it 111th year to a sold-out crowd. Zac Brown, Steve Miller, Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor are just a few Headliners that have been here in the past.We have a great Lightwave coffee shop across the creek that is a quick 5 minute walk. There are several restaurants along the river as well as a small grocery store, movie theater, and a Homemade Ice Cream Parlor that are all close enough to walk to or drive. This is the perfect peaceful getaway near great outdoor activities and some of the best wineries in California! About the Property: Above the Clouds campsite is surrounded by beautiful, stately trees and overlooks the Valley of the Moon with a stunning mountain view. We are just 11 miles from the city of Sonoma and only 8 miles from the Napa Valley - making both destinations really easy to get to. You can enjoy the California wineries, restaurants, and shops that you'd like! We are also ideally located near Jack London State Park - which is a really pretty and historic place to go! The opportunities for hiking around our property are endless, and definitely head to the wineries if that's of interest to you. On our property you can enjoy exploring our more-than 20 acres of land, taking the row-boat (provided by Hosts) out on our pond, hiking or just relaxing in a serene setting and watching a great variety of birds. Formerly utilized as a bed and breakfast, when we moved to the property we definitely wanted to continue sharing the land and views with guests. As hosts, we are around and enjoy getting to know the our visitors if you are up for that, otherwise we are also happy to respect total privacy. There are 3 sites next to the pond, we have one that is there all the time in the summer but those folks only come a couple of times each month. The 2 others are right next to each other near the pond. We haven't started having more than one rented at a time yet but do expect to start that soon. You may have a neighbor or 2. We hope you enjoy the beautiful sunsets and being literally above the clouds as much as we do! About the Listing: Come park your RV on our property and set up camp at a beautiful spot right next to the pond. You should expect to see us on the property, though your site is well away from the house We have minimal electrical and we do have water hookups available for your RV, we do allow generators. There is a BBQ grill that you are welcome to use for cooking some wonderful meals if you'd like! You can enjoy a bite to eat at the picnic table near your campsite. There is also potable water from our natural spring available onsite for guests. You can enjoy watching the birds, turkeys and deer that meander through the meadow, and feel free to roam around the property taking in the fresh outdoor air! Additional Details to Note: - Check-in is after 2pm and check-out is before 12pm - Things to bring: Everything you need to camp comfortably! Think: toilet paper, cookware, bathing suits if you like, etc. - We do not have wifi available on site and cell reception is spotty, especially for certain carriers. Please prepare accordingly for your travels and your stay. - There is a fire ban in effect, so please no campfires, but we do allow you to use a propane fire pit if you bring it yourself. - We welcome your pets! Weekend Trip to Timber Cove Campground

Amazing Experience at Timber Cove Hipcamp. The Up Top site is very private and has epic views. You can walk to a small private beach, great for fishing, kayaking and SUP on calm days. Easy 5 minute walk to timber cove resort for breakfast, lunch and dinner plus a full bar. Fort Ross store 5 minutes down the road has everything you need with deli options. Ideal getaway close to the Bay area. Thanks Katarina for being a great host.

Weekend Trip to Wackalulu's Wonderland

We loved the space! It was lovely, romantic, cozy and wacky! Lynda met us, showed us around the property - a cozy little boat house cabin, showers, and a well stocked kitchen. They'd even prepped the fire pit for us so all we had to do was light it! The late night lighting was romantic and we really enjoyed ourselves. We'll be back for sure.

Sleeping up in the trees was so much fun! Louis was super friendly and helpful. The net felt very secure. Heads up for light sleepers - if anyone gets up in the night the whole net moves, so be prepared for that.

2 nights at Kings Mountain Camp w/ ocean views

This place is amazing!!! We stayed in the apartment and had an awesome view of the ocean although it’s mostly just clouds but it’s beautiful! Especially during sunset. The whole apartment was super clean and nice, and had an amazing kitchen with all of the essentials for cooking. She also gave us 4 eggs from the chickens on the farms, as well as a fire starting kit to make a bonfire right outside of the apartment. The outdoor area is super nice with a hot tub, amazing view, seating area and fire pit. Would definitely recommend this place!!!! Sana was also super helpful and responsive.

2 nights at Wackalulu's Wonderland

My husband and I (and our dog!) celebrated our 30th anniversary at the Cozy Cabin. Lynda and Rich have created an adorable creekside oasis! From hanging out on the comfortable porch to walking our dog around the creek, in the woods and to the skatepark to our nightly activity of watching the bats swooping over the creek with a warm fire. The cabin has everything you need and the bed is very comfortable. We highly recommend The Cozy Cabin and we'll be back!

This is such a spectacular gem! The view was incredible, the hosts were warm and friendly, and the whole tent setup was well thought-out and comfortable. Everything was clean, from the bathrooms to the sundeck, and the mattress was top-notch. We will definitely be back.

We booked this place for a long weekend getaway and the experience was beyond our expectations! Lynda and Rich put their hearts and souls into creating this beautiful paradise! Wackalulu’s is the kind of place that makes you smile without ever having to try too hard. It’s very comfortable, thoughtfully designed, eccentric, private, and surrounded by nature—like a bougie mix of Swiss Family Robinson meets Pirates of the Caribbean. The hosts are genuinely friendly and fun, if you are in the mood for a chat, but they also have their own space if you are in the mood to be alone. The thoughtful touches elevate the experience. The location is ideal: a short walk to a genuinely healthy and delicious brunch spot and an easy drive (or leisurely stroll) to the Russian River. One of those rare places that's both relaxing and slightly adventurous, and unique but not gimmicky. Spend time wondering the yard and all there is to look at. Would absolutely return.

We had such a wonderful stay at Bluff 10! The site was peaceful and perfectly set up for a relaxing getaway. We loved listening to the waves, sitting on the deck watching the sunset, and playing at the beach access. The bathroom facilities are located directly behind the Bluff 10 campsite. While there was occasional foot traffic, other campers were very respectful and noise was minimal. Just be prepared for the bright light that turns on when someone enters the women’s restroom at night. We also had a couple of nighttime visits from a very bold (but manageable) raccoon—just be mindful to secure your food, trash, and recycling! Brenda, the host, was helpful and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a few nights of ocean therapy. We will definitely be visits again in the future.

Truly the best campsite ever! To be so close to the ocean was unbelievable. Small site but totally worked for us. So happy the landowners share their wonderful property with all of us. We will definitely be back!! Only disappointment was the portable toilet. It was dirty and needed to be emptied.

Finley Camp

Finley Camp is nestled along Finley Creek in West Sonoma County. Campsites are located in open flats surrounded by Coast Doug Fir, Alder, and California Bay forests. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate, and access to a porta potty and hand washing station. The campsites are located past the end of the county road allowing for a quiet peaceful experience. Enjoy a quiet stroll on site, the surrounding communities of Bodega, Bodega Bay, Valley Ford, and Tomales, or just enjoy a quiet day in camp. Our sites are located approximately 20 minutes from Bodega Bay. The campsites are 2.5 miles from the coast and the weather can be unpredictable. As a general rule, it is very similar to that of San Francisco. All camp sites are situated in a valley that offers protection from the coastal winds. The have both morning and evening shade. Sites #2, #6, #7, and #11 have the most space, while sites #4, #7, #8, #9 and #11 offer the most privacy. Sites 1-3, any combination of 5-7, and 12-13 are well suited for groups. Other site groupings work well depending on the number of sites being reserved. Site #8 is unique in that it has a wood deck/platform for tents. There are also NO wood fires allowed at site #8 as it is under the tree canopy. A propane firepit is provided for your use. You can bring a 5 gallon propane tank from home, or a full one is available for rent on site. We have beef available for purchase from calves raised exclusively on our ranch. This beef is 100% grass fed and finished and never given grain of any kind. We have various cuts available such as steaks, ground, roasts, ribs, or other various specialty cuts. All beef is cut and wrapped by a USDA certified butcher. It is raised in an organic manner from cows that freely roam on the pastures of the coastal hills we call home. For further information or for a price sheet, please inquire with the camp host. Well behaved dogs are welcome at Finley Camp. All dogs must be kept on leash at all times while on the property. There are no exceptions to this. Finley Camp is located on an active cattle ranch and directly adjacent to a neighboring ranch with cattle. Also be sure to check out our orchard tours. The apples ripen from Late July thru late November. We'll take you to our family orchard where you can pick apples, pears, or blueberries in season and taste yummy treats out of our family garden.

Timber Cove Campground

Located right off coastal US highway 1, Timber Cove campground sits right at the edge of breathtaking, oceanside cliffs. We are situated on roughly two acres of land, with multiple campsites for tent/car camping or RV’s. Each bluff campsite has a picnic table, fire pit and water. Electricity is available to use for an extra fee. The beach and waterfall campsites do not have picnic tables so you might want to bring one if you’ve booked there. We have separate men’s and women’s flush bathrooms, with coin-operated hot showers. We have firewood with kindling for sale on site, payable with cash or Venmo. Please take note of local fire bans, when in effect. Dog friendly, though be advised a leash is recommended as we are close to the road, but they can run leash-free down at the beach. We are located 30 minutes north of the town of Jenner, with Gualala 30 minutes to the north. Gualala has grocery stores, a post office, and some shops. Fort Ross Store is located one mile down the road, just before Timber Cove, and sells basic food necessities, drinks, sandwiches, ice and gas. Internet cell service can be spotty in our area, depending on your provider, so bring your own Starlink services if you have them. We also have access to the beach below, and offer beach camping as well. Take note that the road down to the beach is steep with uneven terrain. The weather can vary quickly here, so be sure to bring multiple layers of clothing and camp gear for various types of weather, and headlamps are useful for getting around the property at night! We hope you’ll come visit our little slice of heaven on the ocean cliffs, gaze at the stars, marvel at the sunsets, watch the harbor seals dozing on their rocks and the many bird species that inhabit our property. This beautiful primary forest and nature reserve is located on the west slopes of Dry Creek Valley, with spectacular views overlooking vineyards and rolling hills. The forest is on the natural frontier between coastal rainforest and inland forest. You will see redwood fairy rings and fallen redwoods indicating that rainforest covered the property centuries ago. Inland forest crept in at least 150 years ago when some of the magnificent, moss-covered oaks first sprouted. The biggest rainforest foothold is a grove of old-growth Douglas Firs in the northwest corner of the forest. In this same forest-healing spirit, paths to the campsites follow deer trails and fallen redwoods to minimize the impact on vegetation and underground mycelium networks. In managing the forest, we only cut invasive trees or native trees that have died. The result is that you get the increasingly rare experience of a forest that has never been logged and where dead trees were left to feed hundreds of species of fungi. The Meadow Grove of Hands Full Farm

The Meadow Grove campsites are located near the historic Narrow Gauge Railroad bed on a family owned working ranch in coastal Northern California. The camp sites are nestled in a pasture and grove of mixed Eucalyptus, willow and cypress trees. The sites are perfect for tents or camper vans, or small trailers. [When we open in the spring, the grass can be 'slippery' and it is recommended you have 4WD. Around mid-June it is dried out enough for 2WD access to all sites] there are no hook-ups for RVs . Specifics about these campsites are: They each come with a picnic table. The grounds are a working ranch, so there is variations of the soil- some lumps and bumps and general natural state of a pasture v. a groomed lawn. Site #1, #2, #3, and #4 have the most level areas for parking and tent-ing. Up until mid-June, we recommend #1 for 2WD access. Campervans that do not have 4WD may have trouble accessing other sites. Please remember this when you book! *Campers who "change sites" without written approval by the host will be charged double!* There is a composting camp toilet, we do not have running water at the campground. The ranch itself is 300 acres of rolling hills pasture, with hilltop views of the Estero Americano valley. The Meadow Grove is home to many varieties of raptors and other birds-providing excellent bird watching. Seasonally there are blackberries to fill your containers, and some hiking. We are mere minutes from the quaint towns of Valley Ford, Tomales, and Dillon Beach, and a short drive from Bodega, Bodega Bay or Marshall, Pt. Reyes Station and Inverness. Nearby attractions include: Sonoma Coast beaches, Pt. Reyes National Seashore, coastal hiking trails, local farm-to-table eateries. Inland attractions include: redwoods, wine tasting, Russian River activities and so much more. The ranch borders Hwy 1, so there is some degree of road noise. Traffic usually dies down mid afternoon, and isn't too much of a disturbance. Virtually all traffic on our stretch of road is daytime traffic. There can be however, some heavy weekend traffic during the day with car clubs and motorcycle riders enjoying the coastal highway. *The Friendly Gray Cat's name is Boots!*

Slide Ranch Campsites

Slide Ranch is a nonprofit organization established in 1970, becoming one of the first Park Partners in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The tent-only campsite area is 1/4 mile hike (about 10 minutes, mostly-flat) from the parking lot and is not accessible by vehicle. Campers must park in the visitor parking lot and hike into the campsite area. We provide a limited number of wheelbarrows to help transport your personal items to the area. Campers are not permitted to sleep in their cars, vans, or campers in the parking lot. Minors aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult; no drop offs or pick ups permitted. No pets allowed; service animals are permitted. We do not have showering facilities or flush toilets. A composting toilet is at the campsite and Porta-potties are available around the property. Soap is provided for hand washing. Water in all Slide Ranch taps is potable for refilling water bottles/jugs. There is no running water at the campsite but there will be a limited number containers of water for use in hand washing, dish washing, and limited for drinking. Slide Ranch does not have any concessions on site. Please plan to bring any snacks or picnic items you’d like to enjoy while enjoying the ranch. Per GGNRA regulations, campfires and open flames of any kind are not allowed outdoors at the campsite. Portable camp stoves and BBQs are strictly prohibited. Cooking is only allowed on the provided propane stove located inside the Dome. Please bring whatever items you need to prepare and enjoy your meals. Slide Ranch is located on the Marin coast, on land that has a rich history in connecting people to food. The Coast Miwok once fished and foraged for food at this site, and in the late 19th century Portuguese dairy farmers purchased the land and produced milk and butter for residents of San Francisco. In 1969, 134 acres of this fertile coastline were rescued from commercial development and purchased by the Nature Conservancy. Slide Ranch offers camping to fund summer camp scholarships and other programs throughout the year.

Salmon Creek Ranch

Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! A portion of your fee goes towards protecting native flora and fauna as part of our private wildlife preservation program. A limited number of private, widely spaced camp spots are available for visitors. The Eagles' Nest Treehouse (mentioned above) is very isolated and you may or may not even be aware that there are other people within miles of you. For those who value nature, seclusion, quiet and the artistry of old growth redwood, this is the place for you.

The pizza oven is not available for campground use. Redwood Grove hangout areas have seating and tree swings. Please pack out your trash. We offer a recycling bin for glass bottles, cans, and clean paper. Parking is 100 yds or less from the campsites. We have a large wheelbarrow to help you cart your camping gear across the pasture to your campsite. No driving onto or parking in the meadow. Property is situated at 800' above sea level (usually above the fog) across the road from the Stump Beach trailhead in Salt Point State Park - which, from our driveway, is a 2 mile hike or bike ride down to the beach. Enjoy quiet solitude of one of the most private and quiet places on the Sonoma Coast. Avoid the crowds of Salt Point, with all the basic amenities you expect. Birdwatch, play frisbee golf, hunt for mushrooms, basecamp your hikes, runs or mountain bike rides in Salt Point, or use Huckleberry Haven as the central spot to innumerable road bike rides on empty roads. The choice is yours! Special note: Huckleberry Haven is on the edge of some great wilderness! We have all sorts of wildlife sauntering by, and certainly have for decades. We recommend taking precautions to avoid interacting with curious/hungry wildlife - Don't sleep with your food in the tent, and keep camp tidy! We know there to be black bears, mountain lions, bobcats, foxes, racoons, skunks and so forth. Mountain Lions tend to avoid us, but you'll want to check on best practices to avoid bear interactions. With 80 miles of shoreline stretching across a dozen beaches, Point Reyes National Seashore offers a plethora of coastal landscapes. Hop across rock tidepools at Sculptured Beach, trek over the sand dunes around Abbotts Lagoon, and witness elephant seals haul ashore near Chimney Rock at Drakes Beach. If you love history, a visit to the Point Reyes Lighthouse and its keeper's residence is a must. With a camping permit for Marshall Beach and Tomales Beach, you can paddle across Tomales Bay and sleep on the sand. Hike in to get a prime spot for backcountry camping in the surrounding hills.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Backcountry, hike-in camping at Point Reyes National Seashore is by permit only, which must be obtained before starting your trip.
Point Reyes campsites are in high demand, so it's best to plan your trip well in advance. Online reservations are frequently reserved three months ahead.
Some campsites are available 14 days in advance, while others are available for same-day (first-come, first-served) booking around 9:30am each morning.
Camping on beaches is prohibited, with the exception of boat-in camping on the west side of Tomales Bay.
Point Reyes has no camping options for RVs or other vehicles, but campgrounds can be found nearby.

When to go

Point Reyes National Seashore offers backcountry camping year-round. Weather can change rapidly and with little warning during any season—campers may experience fog, strong winds, rough seas, and cool temperatures at any time. December through March is birthing and mating season for the area’s northern elephant seals, or you can come in spring when adult females and juveniles haul out on the beaches to molt. June 1 to September 15 is nesting season for the threatened western snowy plover.

Know before you go

Leashed pets are permitted at Limantour Beach, North Beach, South Beach, and certain sections of Kehoe Beach.
Backcountry campground sites can only be accessed by foot, bicycle, or horse.
Observe elephant seals from a safe distance—use binoculars and stay at least 25 feet away.
Some park areas may be closed due to wildfire damage or to protect marine animals.
Never turn your back to the ocean, and be careful not to play close to the water's edge where there’s large surf. Be aware of the tides when camping at Tomales Bay or your tent could get washed away.

It was a lovely drive. Even though the lighthouse is under renovation- I recommend going. Was foggy but if you waited a bit it would clear temporarily- normal for times before noon. Lot less traffic traveling early.

Elk!!

Love Point Reyes. Have stopped in a few times. The town is adorable and the surrounding hikes are unique and beautiful. Plan on coming back to explore the falls and beach next :) The Elk hike is unlike anything I've ever done before. 100/10.

Gorgeous shoreline with paths of various distances. We anlso did a self-guided anudio tour which was a great way to see everything. Also very convenient to see the lighthouse. Great options for accommodations, dining and groceries right in Point Reyes. We even saw whale spouts at the lighthouse!

Tomales Bay Campground

Alan’s property was stunning! Our group was here on a gray and drizzly weekend and it was still a magical space. We were given access to roam the whole property and got to pet horses, alpacas, dogs, and even see a couple peacocks! It’s definitely loud with all of the animals but after not too long it became peaceful background noise. The campfire space is shared but there was only one other group there with us and there is counter space and several grills around, along with a sink making cooking and cleaning a breeze. Alan provided us with an abundance of firewood and the campfire space is lit up with string lights at night. Overall it was a perfect camping experience!

Tomales Bay Campground

Beautiful space nestled in the trees and alongside the river. Initially thought the price was about $40 more than it should have been, but upon arrival my opinion changed. The owner takes great care of the land and facilities and i’m assuming that’s where the extra money is going. Fire extinguishers, shovels, water, and bathrooms at every site was great. Had a little skunk pay me a visit and he seemed to enjoy it as well. Will definitely be back!

Wildcat Campground

A terrific spot to introduce newbies to backpacking. Lots of wildlife--deer, bunnies, coyote, snakes, and lizards. And not a mosquito in sight! Even the worst sites here are great. There are two vault toilets, trash cans, and a water spigot (potable). Each site has a food locker, the double sites have two each.

I'm not a particularly experienced camper/hiker, and I don't like either unless there's something really special waiting for me at the end, and Wildcat Campground delivered. The views along Palomarin Trailhead are great, and the wildcat campground itself is a really special place that is worth the hike. I agree sites 6&7 are best.

In terms of views, this campground just can't be beat! And did I mention bonfires on the beach? The walk in is easy enough while still being immensely rewarding. We hiked in and stayed for one night here since it was booked the next day. On the second day, we journeyed down the beach to the waterfall with our packs and found a primitive spot to sleep that night.

Gorgeous. Nice hike in via Bear Trail. We had the entire place to ourselves because we went in the rainy winter season. It was absolutely gorgeous seeing the 6am fog lingering in the trees. Would recommend. There is potable water, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and vault toilets. Next time I want to stay the first night here, then Wild Cat! What a magical place. We stayed at site 8 and it’s a bit more private than the rest :)

If you love the foggy marin coast, then there is no better place to hike in than Coast Camp. The location is just a few minutes walk from the beach and includes various size sites. From large fields for groups, to smaller more private sites up in the hill.

Tomales Bay Campground

We launched our kayaks from Chicken Ranch and it took a little under 2 hours in moderate conditions. Totally worth it! Scored a beautiful spot on Marshall's Beach, which has bathrooms and garbage disposal. Didn't get a chance to check out the bioluminescence so I'll have to come back.

Coast Campground

Perfect backpacking trip for first timers! We left from Bear Valley Visitor Center and took Mt. Wittenberg Trail. We continued on Mt Wittenberg trail to Woodward Valley. Would definitely recommend, it was a little challenging but mostly you are ascending down in elevation. We then took the Coast Trail to Coast Camp. Amazing views!!!! We stayed at Coast Camp in site #6 which was perfect. We couldn't see or hear our neighbors really at all. All of the sites #1-7 seemed pretty nice. They also have some group campsites but they aren't as private. You can walk from the coast camp sites on a short trail to the beach. Huge beach with beautiful sand and not too many people around.
