Host Daniel Weintraub says:
My grandfather bought this property in the 1930's and built a wonderful log house which burned down in 1974. The road in was once part of the colonial road to Brentsville, then the county seat. Located on the property are several points of historical interest: the ruins of the old mill and its workings, the Bell gold mine which was worked before gold was discovered in California in 1849. I have heard all my life that there is a skeleton buried in that shaft. I have panned some gold in the creek, Long Branch. In the 19th century there was also a livery stable and a small store here. Woodbine Baptist Church brought people to get baptized at the point when my mother was a child.
