Absolute seclusion! Come relax at Secret Meadow at Hicks Orchard - the oldest U-Pick apple orchard in New York state. Our 13x16 foot canvas tent is situated at the top of a hill, at the edge of the woods, and is entirely secluded. There is a private meadow and pond, just for you to enjoy. The tent is truly glamorous - equipped with everything you need. The tent site is a ten minute walk, mostly uphill. Get ready for total relaxation on this truly peaceful hilltop. We love hosting dog friends AND we do ask for a cleaning fee. Check the EXTRAS to add that to your reservation. Thank you for understanding. The site is across the road from Hicks Orchard where you can pick your own apples, blueberries, cherries and more. Wood fired pizza is available on weekends and hard cider tasting are available Wed-Sun. Check the orchard website for events and hours. There are two ponds that are stocked with fish. You are welcome to fish in either, the lower pond (near the road) has a larger population. Please only catch what you will eat during your stay. Hint, fish for bass when the bull frogs start singing. For those that are sensitive to scents, we use peppermint essential oil to keep mice away.Remote campsite with large canvas tent. Medium firm, queen size, latex foam mattress is soooo comfortable fitted with 100% cotton sheets. There are plenty of blankets for cold nights. The site is located across from Hicks Orchard where you can pick your own apples, blueberries, cherries and more. Check out their website for events, hicksorchard.com Enjoy wood fired pizza on weekends and hard cider tastings Wednesday through Sunday. Pick up hot cider donuts before heading up to camp. Guests with 4WD and all terrain tires may drive the road to the campsite at their own risk. It is a tractor road with deep divots and there is no gravel so it can be very slippery. It is just a ten minute walk (mostly uphill) from parking and there is a utility wagon for transporting all you need. By booking you are agreeing to sign our standard liability waiver before your arrival. What is provided for you to use at the campsite: - large canvas tent - bed with linens, pillows, and blankets - seating inside and outside the tent - firewood (bring paper and/or kindling) - lighters - two-burner camp stove with propane - coffee and percolator - olive oil, salt, and pepper - cast iron pan and spatula - small cook pot - dishes and silverware for four people - 2 wine glasses - sharp pocket knife - cutting board - sponge and dish soap - water for drinking and dishwashing (at least 5 gallons will be at the site) - hammock - cleaning supplies - camp toilet and toilet paper - solar shower bag (bring your own towels) - cooler (bring your own ice) - bug spray (natural and chemical) - wet wipes and paper towels - solar lights and solar charger for devices - headlamp and flashlight

Secret Meadow at Hicks Orchard
What a great space! So warm and inviting, with so many things to make it just a bit easier to glamp. I would recommend bringing a propane heater if you go any later than us (early October), but the grill and cooking supplies provided were much appreciated and the mattress was comfortable and clean!

Secret Meadow at Hicks Orchard
We had a delightful stay at Secret Meadow! The site is secluded up a tractor road that leads to a great bell tent setup surrounded by woods (the meadow is just a few yards away). Great view during the day and wonderful stargazing and sounds at night. Zoe is a lovely host and we appreciated her communication and the care with which this site is maintained. As noted: Either be prepared to pack in (there is a helpful looking yard cart at the gate), or drive in*. The host is lovely and honestly provides you with all you need for camping - you provide personal essentials only (and a fishing rod if you want to fish)! As others have noted, dont overpack! One thing you may want to pack is a hatchet or something to split some smaller kindling off of the provided firewood (though you could probably walk and collect sticks...). While this site is separate from Hicks Orchard, we wanted to add that the orchard is great fun for kiddos (goats, a bounce house, apple cider slushies, hay ride) and a relaxing stop for adults. *NOTE: We would only recommend driving up (as Zoe also notes) in an AWD vehicle. We were fine in a Subaru Forester, but know that the ruts are deep in some spots. If you are not used to off-roading, or overlanding, you may want to scope the road before attempting - it would stink to become high centered.

Perfect camping getaway!
Zoe really makes it easy to camp! Even though it was probably listed somewhere, we overpacked. She really provides a lot of what you’d need for camping! And I wish I paid better attention because the hike up from your car to the tent isn’t bad if you don’t have a lot of stuff! Although, even if you do have more stuff than 2 or 4 hands can carry, she provides a neat wagon that does a lot of heavy lifting for you, but the trail does have a good hill to hike up so keep that in mind. The campground is really nice and secluded, surrounded by trees, lots of neat animal sounds at night too! Which we loved! We will definitely be camping here again!

Secret Meadow at Hicks Orchard
Beautiful secluded glamping site
This is an incredibly beautiful and private glamping campsite in the woodsy clearing next to an enchanting tree-lined meadow, bustling with life, and with views of hills in the distance. We didn’t realize how wonderfully secluded in nature we would be based on the photos and description; it’s far from the orchard, though you can easily walk down the hill, out of the woods and across the road to the farm or to drive to town. The host, Zoe, was super helpful and friendly, answered many questions promptly, and guided us through via texts, while respecting our privacy. The tent, bedding, interior decoration, camping stove, and everything supplied are excellent; though bring anything particular to you. Because the campsite is located a walk up a hill, don’t overpack in order to avoid two trips and be prepared for a long incline on a rocky dirt road. Recommend bringing a sealable plastic storage box to store food safely. The supplied cooler is medium-sized; bring ice. The cooking supplies are basic. All in all, a gem of a place if you are willing to make the effort.

A cozy shelter on a rainy night
We arrived in the rainy dark, so were grateful to have a pleasant dry camp all set up. It was magical walking up the trail at night and seeing the fairy lights of the tent. We enjoyed making hot tea and eggs on the cookstove in the morning.
