It was quiet (except for the frogs!) and safe and the ground was level and it felt very private! I booked last minute and Patricia was very accommodating. I was in late and out early on both days. Excellent camp.

Weekend Trip to Salamander Hollow Healing Habitat

This little island really is an oasis. There's cell service so you're not totally 'off-grid' in terms of safety or general communication which is good. The dock is perfectly positioned for sun bathing (or solar charging devices), the lapping sounds of the water calming, and the birds calls (with the occasional car passing by) providing some sound dynamics. As others have mentioned, the shack is equipped with some past guests' supplies including salt, pepper, olive oil, a cooler, plasticware, and some paper plates in case you forgot those essentials. There are also coffee mugs and some pots/pans you can use. The grill outside worked great, even while the water level around the island was high and limited my use of the fire pit. I really loved being able to let me dog off leash and let her wander the tiny island freely, though she was afraid of going on the dock. Compost toilet was easy to use and convenient. The loft tatami mat isn't all that comfortable so on the cold night that was only just above freezing, I moved the air mattress from the tent to the loft and that worked great. I took the "leave it better" seriously and helped organize some of the cabinet contents to make the rest of my and future stays zen. I hope future guests do too and treat this place kindly, as it is special and cool.

The whole site was fantastic. It was perfect for a rainy weekend. When the rain stopped there was so much to do outside. The fire pit was a big plus with a beautiful view. The Koi pond was full of big and small koi to enjoy. The weather was warm enough to see the honeybees come to life and buzzz around the bee cabin, the Teepee was really a very cool addition although we didn’t use it much due to the rain. We stayed in the library and it was warm and cozy with the wood burning stove. It was kept clean, accessible and had what you needed for a great weekend. The kitchen area with the fridge, grill and pizza oven were a huge plus and we took advantage. The bathroom was within walking distance, heated and very clean and had it to ourselves. Which was a big plus. I would stay here again. Such a unique stay. The property was so peaceful and relaxing. We were able to unwind and connect to nature here. Thank you Mary!

1 night at Souza Cranberry Waterfront Campsite

Im a repeat “offender” or rather camper. I absolutely love this spot. I come here all the time. I’ve stayed at both spots but prefer the 2.0 site, it’s cozier to me. Lori & her husband are the best people you could meet, great communication and their property to me is the perfect getaway to chill out. I love hearing the birds, the peepers and looking out on the spring fed pond. Whether you’re in a tent, car camping or rv’ing, this spot will accommodate any style of camping you want.

We had a wonderful stay at Birch & Pine. Patricia, our host was warm and hospitable. She brought us some fresh eggs and we had ample firewood for the fire. I would recommend staying here. It is a great location to visit Boston, Bristol, and Newport. Patricia also gave us many recommendations on places to visit and eat at which made our trip awesome.

You would be hard pressed to find a better camp site. No showers here, but our site was ample, with a nice table and fire ring. Other amenities are close by. Best of all, you have all of Mt. Greylock at your very doorstep. Less than ten minutes to town. And Christian is an affable and thoughtful host, responsive and welcoming.

We had a lovely spot in the back of the property. We heard the creek and owles. We saw deer and flowering dogwoods. Christian is a great host and told us some fun stories.

3 nights at Cozie Nook Homestead

Our family camped on Robyn and Dennis’ property for 4 days and 3 nights and had a great time! The campsite was spacious, and we appreciated the covered restroom, cooking utensils, and camp stove. We loved the privacy and hearing all the different birds, especially the woodpeckers. Dennis and Robyn have a small farm, and visiting their animals was a highlight for us for sure! There is also a beautiful trail that we hiked nearby—definitely recommend. It rained one day we were there, but it didn’t put a damper on our time at all as we drove around and explored the area. We could hear traffic on a nearby road, but it did not impact our stay. I’d imagine that once all the leaves are on the trees it would be even less noticeable. Robyn and Dennis were so kind, and their property is beautiful. I’d recommend them and this site to other families!

So together with his wife and five children he converted a bus into a camper and carved out a site amongst the wild blueberry bushes and scrub oak trees. Our family fell in love with the island. We discovered all the island has to offer and found it irresistible. We were the tourists of yesteryear and what attracted our family back then still exists today: beautiful beaches, fabulous fishing, quaint villages, and amazing sunsets. From the rolling hills of Aquinnah to the dunes of Katama, there is no place on earth like it. Martha’s Vineyard When Chuck found out his job was relocating him to California, he made the bold move to make his family campsite and land available to you. With a lot of hard work and great family pride, the construction of Martha’s Vineyard Family Campground began. During the first few summers of construction, we lived in the converted bus and tents. Slowly the sites and the roads were carved out. Summer vacations meant clearing land and pouring cement. The campground was officially opened in the spring of 1972 and has been a family-run operation ever since. Today the campground is managed by a third generation of The Feeney Family. His daughter Bathsheba became the last woman executed in the United States for the murder of her husband Joshua Spooner. (There’s a book about it called Murdered by his wife, by Deborah Navas.) Want to know local eateries? For breakfasts and lunch there is The Whistle Stop diner, it was a former Boston & Albany Railroad station. Speaking of railroads, did you know that The Mass Central Rail Trail runs through Gilbertville! Rose 32, is a well known bakery that serves tea, coffee and sandwiches. Hardwick is the home of the oldest agricultural fair in the US, held every year in August, and, every Sunday there’s a small farmers market on the common. Hardwick also has a winery- Hardwick Vineyard and Winery, they have all kinds of events, (find them on facebook) and, check out Lost Towns brewery- the name is a throwback to the 4 towns that were submerged to create the Quabbin Reservoir! Medicine River Pow Wow is in August here in Gilbertville, on River Run Rd. The East Quabbin Land Trust has birdwatching and fabulous views, and the Mass Central Rail Trail entrance is located here. Bike it or hike it! Quabbin Reservoir is close by for boating and fishing. There are free concerts in Grenville Park in Ware, (check for dates). Ware also has Janine’s Frostee ice cream and fast foods- and live music on weekend nights! Also check out these on line: Ragged Hill orchard and Rock House Reservation in West Brookfield, and Carter and Stevens farm in Barre. The Leicester, and Mendon movie drive-in’s. Old Sturbridge village is 30 minutes away. Lake Lashaway has a swimming area in East Brookfield, right off of Rte 9. It’s about 20 minutes from here. Lake Siog in Holland has a lovely picnic area and beach for swimming. (30 mins South from here) Is this area great or what?!

The 1.3 acre parcel across the street from the house and farm has a forested peninsula that the A-frame is located on. Our street ends in a small stream that continues to separate the farmstead from the A-frame site. Come stay in our tiny rustic A frame cabin built of mostly reclaimed materials. Enjoy being across the stream and over the bridge from the main house on a private peninsula. Enjoy the privacy of a "single site" camp! Use the fire pit, grill, outdoor wood stove, single burner butane stove or umm the bathroom :) without having to leave your site! Please be aware we are in town and you may hear road noise, lawn mowers, dogs, ect. You may also see and hear wildlife ex; deer, beavers, ducks, muskrats, rabbits, geese, foxes, and coyotes. We encourage native plants and work to provide a sanctuary for many threatened bird species. The cabin is 100sq. feet with sloping interior walls the flip up side wall is permanently open and screened in. There is no running water or electricity so unplug and unwind. A place to plug in and the water spigot a short stroll from your cabin in the driveway The cabin has a a full size mattress with sheets, blankets, throws and pillows. Lanterns, cooking utensils, camp mugs and camp coffee pot are provided. Please request the cast iron skillet and butane burner, it will not be in the cabin if you do not ask for it. You are also welcome to set up your own tent. Please note cleared space is limited and the tent should be a 1-3 person smaller tent. Outside on the deck are tiki torches, woodstove and bistro table. There is a hammock, picnic table, and 2 sets of outdoor chairs at your site. We do not have a swimming hole but the town beach is 5 minutes away and requires a day pass. If you forget something you are a short walk to Cumbies, and several farms, bakeries and a large grocer are a very short drive away. Venture farther (10 minutes) to one of the nearby hiking trails. We are within 15 minutes of the Blackstone Gorge, Southern New England Trunkline Trail, Cornier Woods, Franklin State Forest, Wojcik Farm, Cook's Valley Farm, the New England Bonsai Museum, Diamond Hill Vineyards, Caroline's Cannabis, Shire Conservation Area, New England Country Club, and many stables. The Commuter Rail to Boston, Wrentham Premium Outlets, and a Drive-in Theater are within 30 minutes. Use us as a base to explore Blackstone Valley, Boston and Worcester!!
