Myles Standish State Forest

Located in America’s hometown of Plymouth, stands Myles Standish State Forest, the largest recreation area in southeastern Massachusetts. The park offers vast forests of pine, camping, hunting, fishing, canoeing, and picturesque kettle ponds. There are 15 miles of bicycle trails, 35 miles of equestrian trails, and 13 miles of hiking trails that take visitors deep into the pitch pine/scrub oak communities. It’s a great place to come for the day and exercise, or make a trip out of it for a quaint little get-a-way. In the summer, interpretive programs, such as pond shore walks and cranberry bog explorations help acquaint you and your little tykes with the unique natural, cultural and historic gems of the state forest. Once you are here you can inhale the sweet pine, rejuvenate, and wonder how this wide expanse of nature can be located so close to Boston and its suburbs.
