Weekend Trip to Camping under the Stars

Our stay at this campsite was truly amazing. From the moment we arrived, the host was incredibly helpful and friendly, making us feel very welcomed. He provided a container of water and explained camp rules. The campsite was clean and thoughtfully maintained, with plenty of room between sites with trees and brush to maintain privacy for a relaxing experience. The location was stunning—I just love the high desert landscape and is surrounded by mountains that lit up at sunset. The skies at night were beautifully dark and clear, perfect for stargazing. It felt like we had a front-row seat to nature’s best show. During the morning, my son had an absolute blast exploring and catching lizards, while I got to unwind in the hammock and soak in the peaceful sounds of birds and the breeze through the trees. It was the perfect mix of adventure and tranquility. All with close proximity to the lake and adventures in the surrounding area. I highly recommend this campsite!!

Weekend Trip to Log Shelter Retreat

Clay and Julie are hospitable and kind, and the RV was lovely and a perfect resting spot during a road trip. Working stove, outlets, a quaint outdoor common space, and the best-kept porta-potty I’ve ever encountered! Would recommend to anyone passing through the area. Beware the mosquitoes though, and don’t forget bug spray and layers.

Very comfortable spot that is secluded and private! The solar plug-in is a nice touch to have some electricity in your rig. Not far from Bend and in a pleasant area. I would highly recommend!

Camping in the tipi was great! I didn't have to bother setting up my tent. The floor was covered in carpet, and there were 2 tables and a propane heater (which I did not actually use). I heard coyote and frogs at night, and an owl swooped through the meadow at dusk. I enjoyed meeting the 2 sweet resident kitties and visited with the goats. The info indicated that there was a picnic table, but this was not available. I discussed this with the host and she promptly supplied me with a camp table. The porta potty was very clean.

Weekend Trip to STEEP DREAMS

I loved this little cabin and it was a perfect place to relax after a long day of search & rescue training. Waking up to the sunrise was so beautiful and the view was incredible. It had everything I needed and the Starlink/Netflix accessibility was a bonus! Can't say enough good things about this beautiful property.

Weekend Trip to Lucky Six Ranch

Veronica's place was perfect for a weekend of visiting my daughter in Bend. The ranch is just 15 or so easy minutes from downtown. The campsite is spacious, scenic and just super cool. Even though I had a tent, we ended up sleeping in the tipi on some air mattresses we brought, which was amazing. Lots of birds and frogs, starry skies, chilling goats and wonderful juniper trees. On top of all that, Veronica was super friendly, gracious, responsive and helpful: She recommended the Scout Camp hike, which we did. Jaw-dropping. My daughter has at least another year in Bend for school, so I'm sure we'll be back. Would recommend to anyone.

Boondocking site means there is no hook-ups or running water so you'll want to bring in your own water and heat if you're here in the colder months. Your four legged furry family members are welcomed! They must be accompanied at all times and not left on the property alone. The dog run is for you to keep closer tabs on them while relaxing, not for leaving them while going into town or enjoying the area. The dirt is very soft and it wouldn't take very long for them to dig under to get out and go looking for you. The cabin or yurt is also not a pet storage area - with no power or AC, pets are not allowed to be left alone in the dwellings.

The Deschutes River has an amphitheater boarding it with top name bands every few weeks. This site is less than ten minutes from "The Cascade Village Shopping Center" (www.shopcascadevillage.com) which has lots of restaurants and a large variety of shopping (Trader Joes, Local Acers supermarket, restaurants, Lowes, Target, and lots more. Ten minutes to the north is Tumalo town offering food carts at “The Bite” (www.thebitetumalo.com) with tasty local beers on tap, two cider tasting rooms (Bend Cider and Tumalo Cider). In Tumalo Town, you will find a general store offering refillable beer and cider growlers, propane, gas, and diesel. In Tumalo town, you will also find a coffee shop, pizza parlor, farmstand with local produce, a tavern with pool tables and the historic “Tumalo Feed Co. Steakhouse” (www.tumalofeedcosteakhouse.com) with an old town western feel. For you adventures rock climbing visitors, there’s Smith Rock State Park 30 minutes north and Mt Bachelor 50 minutes to the west for you downhill and Nordic skiers in the winter with plenty of mountain biking and hiking in the Phil’s trail system in the summer. 15 minutes north is “Well Rooted” (https://wellrootedfarms.co yep without the m at the end of their website) where you can pick your own fresh produce, buy meats etc. Fifteen minutes to the west is the Tumalo Reservoir for some quit walking and spectacular views of the mountains. I do not have a dump station; I do offer a portable restroom that gets serviced once a week. If you have a trailer, there's a dump station, "Camp World" charging a $10 flat fee located 3.2 miles from the camp site.

Our unique location is close to Bend city limits and right next to Horse Ridge Mountain Biking Trails. BLM land surrounds the area, and is even accessible from the upper part of our property. Come out and enjoy the high desert and expore the juniper forest. We have tent camping sites and one tipi. We are currently in the process of still building out our glamping pods. However in the mean time you can currently book a stay at thoses sites for tent camping. The tent sites offer a comfortable setting for your tent in the sandy dirt. Each site includes a picnic table and a fire pit. We have a small community area! There you will find a mini outdoor kitchen with a blackstone and a bbq. (We have no water on-site) This is also where the trash bins are located. There is also a basketball hoop, yoga deck, and pull up /hanging bars. Next to the community area is where you will also find the bathroom, which is a clean porta potty. Come enjoy wandering the juniper forest and sage brush in Central Oregon’s high desert. We are next to 100’s of acres of BLM land, including the Horse Ridge Mountain Biking Trail System. There is hiking, biking, horse trails and ATV trails all nearby. Our open skies are great for daydreaming and stargazing. Come see how bright the milky way is out here Sage Ridge. Sage Ridge is only 15 miles east of Bend right off of Hwy 20.

Camping is situated on 10 acres and just 10 minutes from the Crooked River, Prineville Reservoir and Millican Valley OHV Trail System . The group tent site has two separate-12' x 14' flat gravel pads and will accommodate tents of all reasonable sizes. I have quit doing that for a variety of reasons, the least being the cost and the work for me. I am encouraging everyone to purchase a Propane Fire Pit if you don't have one by now. I am not to the point yet of saying no big dogs. Talk to me if you think your "big dog" might not fit in. I don't like running thru other campers sites, so just be respectful. Take them for walks along the lake, not having them run thru everyone else's camp sites. No Yappers, no barking dogs, no yapper's, no pain in the butts. Why would you drive by 46 grocery stores and forget to bring ice? No loud music. I have changed quiet time to 9:00 PM. You need to listen to the chaos/stressful music I suggest you start a band or become a DJ. What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”. Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen. I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven. Then there is the silence. The best part of “Heaven”.

Back Side of Painted Hills Camping

This 320 acre plot of land on which you can hike anywhere has been in our family since 1993. Large, graveled spot for tents or two vehicles with excellent view for miles and miles and night star gazing. Primitive outhouse. Juniper forest with sage brush... basically high desert vegetation. We only allow one reservation per night, although there is lodging (reserved) at the log home almost out of sight up above you. You can arrange vehicles or tents to not be in view or block any view from house way above. 320 acres to hike and roam. Mitchell is 10 miles away with well stocked grocery and feed store, restaurants, small brewery, and tire shop. We give directions fairly quickly. Road is wide, but steep at top. 4 wheel drive is recommended. Very close to the Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National monument, Ochoco National Forest is seven miles. John Day River for swimming, rafting about 20 minutes. If you can book, it means you can drive on up with out contacting us. As you drive in if at night, you will see a light on the outhouse.

Pitch a tent out in the pasture, near the canal that runs through the property. We are a perfect location to the fairgrounds for the Farewell Festival and all Bend festivals throughout the year. We are 4 miles to the festival sights in Redmond and 20 min to Bend. We offer shuttle rides to and from the festivities so just enjoy the ride, enjoy the show and come home for a relaxing evening under the stars. If coming for The Farewell Festival we offer the purchase of a weekend shuttle pass to and from the fairgrounds for the weekend so you can enjoy your time and not spend it stuck trying to get out of the parking lot!! If you are bringing an RV or trailer we have hookups for electric (first come basis).
