Enjoy Peacefulness on the beautiful historic Suwannee River, fish, canoe, kayak, hike, bike, view wildlife.  The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is within 8 miles of this property and about 7 miles from the Stephen Foster Memorial State Park. Many Springs are located close by where you can swim and scuba dive. There is a Canoe Outpost close by that offers drop off and pick up with canoes. Property has many trees, cement benches around a firepit, picnic table, a large extra work table for cooking. Bring your RV, Tent, Van, Hammock or whatever you are comfortable in. Unwind, relax and enjoy the sounds and beauty of nature. I supply a map of the River and the surrounding area to help you make the most of your experience. If you need help with things I am close by. There is soo much history about the Suwannee River in North Florida! :D It is known that Indians once traveled along these banks and proof has been found from many Arrow Heads and other artifacts being found along the Suwannee River. There are many Springs along the over 240 miles of River as it empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The Suwannee River begins it's journey in the Okefenokee Swamp in South Georgia. This is also where the Suwannee River gets it's tannic color from the decaying vegetation in the swamp. More about the Suwannee River can be found at: MySuwanneeRiver.com

We are just a small 12 acre property working towards being a self-sustaining homestead. We have power and water at the barn where you can park your travel trailer or larger RV. While you're here we're very happy to share our lovely farm animals with you. Never held a chicken before? You can here! Want to pet a goat or hold a goat kid? We're happy to let you do so. I'm not sure the ducks or geese will let you hold or pet them, but you can certainly watch them swim and quack throughout the day. Want to sit on the dock of the bay? Well, we don't have a bay, but we do have a pond with a dock where you can do some fishing or just enjoy the feel of the sun on your face and the sounds of the birds chirping. There's also a really nice park across the street where you can see a waterfall. Yes a waterfall in Florida. It's small but beautiful and there's some trails where you can walk around the park and enjoy all the beauty mother nature has to offer. Learn more about this land: Whether you're looking for an overnight spot or a place to camp for several days, our little spot is conveniently located less than a mile off of I10, exit 301. You'll be privately tucked into a quiet corner of our property where you have a walking trail and full access to our stocked pond for fishing or just hanging out. There's a little Columbia County Park co-managed with Suwannee River Water Management District across the street. The park has a boardwalk that takes you out to view the waterfall, picnic tables, a playground and a historic church.

A pet friendly, off leash, dark skies 6 acre slice of paradise in North Florida on the banks of the Suwannee River. In 1990 the State of Florida banned logging within 1,000 feet of the Suwannee River so Southeast Timberlands sold off it's holdings and we were lucky enough to purchase 6 acres and 444 feet of riverfront. A designated "Pristine Scenic Waterway" with very steep banks, the Suwannee is one of the few"wild" rivers left in the United States and can rise over 30 feet to flood stage almost overnight; yet due to its unique topography we can access it no matter how high or low the water. The Forest Service has bought up the surrounding lots, creating a 10 mile Conservation corridor supporting the National Scenic Florida Trail, it's clearly marked footpaths and natural attractions. To that end, we have left the old growth upland forest the way we found it. The campsite is a natural feature as is the Zen deck and canoe launch, a swale draining the ridge. The campsite is level, the lane to the river slopes gently dropping in elevation 20 feet over 1,000 in making it easy for able bodied guests to navigate their way to the white sugar sand beach. We want to share our retreat with those who are looking for a real wilderness experience in an exclusive private setting. A Waiver of Liability is required by all guests as the Wilderness is an inherently dangerous place. We only offer one accommodation per weekend with a maximum of 8 people, because we only have 1 toilet, so our guests can have the seclusion they desire and be free to enjoy the natural wonder of the woodland experience in any manner they choose.

This area was inhabited by indians many years ago and the remnants of their civilization are scattered about in the rivers and land. The Ichetucknee River was named by a tribe of Creek Indians who came down from north Georgia and Alabama, and means "place of the beavers". This area is rich in history and beautiful nature. With over 1/3 acre of dedicated riverfront property on the Santa Fe River, you’ll have all the peace and quiet you can handle in this single spot campsite. The campsite was purpose-built for friends and family who come to visit this slice of paradise we call home. Ideally located in the heart of spring country in North Central Florida, we have over 18 major springs within a 50-mile radius of this location, which allows for all the outdoor exploration and watersports you desire. With tubing, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, swimming, boating, and fishing available within feet of the campsite, you can stay nearby or venture out to some of the best springs in the world. Boaters – Private boat ramp is 200 yards up the road on the Santa Fe, public boat ramps within 10 miles on the Santa Fe and Suwannee rivers. Tubers – Tube the private section of the crystal-clear Ichetucknee river accessible only by the homeowners via our 3 waterfront parks. Both get-out parks are within walking distance to the campsite for your convenience. Paddlers – Paddle the Santa Fe or Ichetucknee rivers from within the neighborhood, or if the time of year is right, venture up to the Ichetucknee State Park to paddle the head waters and north entrance. This is limited in season and numbers to keep the impact on the river to a minimum. Swimmers – Swim the Santa Fe or Ichetucknee rivers from within the neighborhood via our 9 waterfront parks (6 Santa Fe, 3 Ichetucknee) or venture to either entrance of the Ichetucknee River State Park just a few miles away. Nature lovers – Explore the unspoiled conservation areas within the neighborhood that can be hiked and explored. Setup a hammock and sit by the river and watch all your worries wash away, you may get to see the occasional manatee. Whatever your passion, this campsite accommodates it with electric (50/30/15), water, picnic table, concrete firepit, clothesline and plenty of room to spread out. The neighborhood is golf-cart and UTV friendly and has lots of dirt roads to explore.  The deer can be found quite easily every morning and evening while riding around and rarely run away from the vehicles. Area Springs and Recreation attractions include the following springs and state parks. Google search Florida Springs for more information on each.

30mi from Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park · 34 sites · Tents, RVs
A quiet, spacious campground with Suwannee River access — intentionally limited, never crowded. Set on over 60 acres along the Suwannee River, this historic property (formerly known as Suwannee River Cove) is under new ownership and being thoughtfully restored and reimagined as Oaken River. Towering oak trees — some hundreds of years old — provide shade, character, and a peaceful sense of place throughout the grounds. While RV sites are set back from the river for privacy and space, guests enjoy the riverfront experience through shared common areas by the water, including a lanai, firepit, fountain area, and oak-shaded gathering spots. A private boat ramp on the property allows guests to easily launch kayaks and small watercraft. River levels vary seasonally, and at times the ramp is best suited for hand-launched or paddle craft. The Suwannee River region is known for its natural beauty and access to multiple freshwater springs and state parks, many within a 15–45 minute drive. Wildlife is part of daily life here — deer are frequently seen on the property, along with birds and other native species. We intentionally open a limited number of RV sites to preserve quiet, space, and the natural landscape. During our soft-opening phase, guests enjoy founding-season pricing while final improvements continue — an opportunity to experience a special place before it becomes widely known. What’s available: • Full RV hookups (35/50 amp, water, sewer) • Newly renovated, premium bathhouse • River access with nearby sandy beach and a private boat ramp • Large oak canopy, stargazing, and peaceful nights • 50+ acres of wooded land to explore, with natural trails and expanding access throughout the forest • Family-friendly, low-density environment Soft-opening note: Some areas are still being improved and you may notice unfinished landscaping near certain sites. This does not affect safety, hookups, or comfort and is reflected in opening-season pricing. A good fit if you value space, quiet, nature, and a campground designed around quality rather than quantity. Not a good fit if you expect resort-style landscaping everywhere or a party-focused environment. Our philosophy: Great campgrounds are defined by how they feel, not how many sites they contain.

Come enjoy a relaxing & peaceful stay under the beautiful oaks at our Rustic-themed RV park, just minutes from the Itchetucknee Springs. We are a small, 14 site RV Park that is family owned and operated. We offer 15/30/50 amp service, full hook-up to self-contained units only (No public restroom/bath house at this time). One of our favorite things about our park is the old general store we had moved approximately 36 miles across Suwannee County, for our future office. Many people stop by just to snap a quick picture along their journey. We hope to have it open soon! Keep your eyes open for many different types of wildlife, including hawks, owls, deer, turkey, and rabbits. We are approximately 10 minutes from Branford & Fort White, for the closest grocery store and places to eat. Dollar General is also located 1 mile from our park. There are many springs, rivers, and state parks within driving distance.

10% off 3+ night stays. Green Fairy Camp is a private, fenced acre in Fort White, Florida — right in the heart of the world’s freshwater springs capital. An easygoing basecamp for exploring Ichetucknee and beyond. We camp here ourselves every month, so we’ve added the little things that make a difference: stocked paper goods, fans and extension cords when needed, faux grass walkways, and a propane grill. A fire pit is available when conditions allow. You can also rent our fully set-up Jayco camper as an add-on. No hauling. No setup. Just arrive and settle in. Guests also have access to our private member key for multiple lower Ichetucknee spring parks — a rare bonus that lets you explore quieter entrances beyond the main gates.

Overview

About

Come to Stephen Foster and get your glockenspiel on. That’s right, that xylophone-looking instrument, well this park has one and although here it’s called a 97-bell carillon, same diff. Why? We thought you’d never ask! Because one Stephen Foster, after which the park is named, composed over 200 songs on this nifty little instrument (little being very relative here) and his tunes can be heard playing from the folk museum throughout the day. This mixed forest park along the stone-studded banks of the Suwannee River also pays tribute to the days of old by craft making demonstrations such as quilting, blacksmithing, stained glass making and others. Canoeing, kayaking and freshwater fishing are popular in the river and hiking, biking and horseback riding can be enjoyed on Carter Camp’s ten miles of off-road trails. Numerous other trails, such as Foster’s Hammock Loop Trail, will also let you explore the high river bluffs, limestone outcroppings and floodplain swamp forests. Lots of critters at this park, so be on the lookout for gopher tortoises, frogs, box and snapping turtles, wood duck, white-tailed deer, alligators and other birds!

When to go

The ideal time to visit Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park is during the cooler months from October to April. The weather is pleasant, perfect for outdoor activities without the intense heat of summer. Summer months can be hot and humid, with a higher chance of rain, which may affect some park activities.

Know before you go

  • Check the park's event calendar for special cultural events and workshops that may enhance your visit.
  • Ensure you have all necessary supplies, as the nearest stores may be a distance away.
  • Wear appropriate footwear for walking along the park's nature trails.
  • Be mindful of park wildlife; observe from a distance and do not feed the animals.
  • Accessibility is a priority, but if you have specific needs, contact the park in advance to ensure they can accommodate you.
