There is soo much history about the Suwannee River in North Florida! :D It is known that Indians once traveled along these banks and proof has been found from many Arrow Heads and other artifacts being found along the Suwannee River. There are many Springs along the over 240 miles of River as it empties into the Gulf of Mexico. The Suwannee River begins it's journey in the Okefenokee Swamp in South Georgia. We are just a small 12 acre property working towards being a self-sustaining homestead. We have power and water at the barn where you can park your travel trailer or larger RV. While you're here we're very happy to share our lovely farm animals with you. Never held a chicken before? You can here! Want to pet a goat or hold a goat kid? We're happy to let you do so. I'm not sure the ducks or geese will let you hold or pet them, but you can certainly watch them swim and quack throughout the day. Want to sit on the dock of the bay? Well, we don't have a bay, but we do have a pond with a dock where you can do some fishing or just enjoy the feel of the sun on your face and the sounds of the birds chirping. There's also a really nice park across the street where you can see a waterfall. Yes a waterfall in Florida. It's small but beautiful and there's some trails where you can walk around the park and enjoy all the beauty mother nature has to offer. Learn more about this land: Whether you're looking for an overnight spot or a place to camp for several days, our little spot is conveniently located less than a mile off of I10, exit 301. You'll be privately tucked into a quiet corner of our property where you have a walking trail and full access to our stocked pond for fishing or just hanging out. There's a little Columbia County Park co-managed with Suwannee River Water Management District across the street. The park has a boardwalk that takes you out to view the waterfall, picnic tables, a playground and a historic church.

A pet friendly, off leash, dark skies 6 acre slice of paradise in North Florida on the banks of the Suwannee River. In 1990 the State of Florida banned logging within 1,000 feet of the Suwannee River so Southeast Timberlands sold off it's holdings and we were lucky enough to purchase 6 acres and 444 feet of riverfront. A designated "Pristine Scenic Waterway" with very steep banks, the Suwannee is one of the few"wild" rivers left in the United States and can rise over 30 feet to flood stage almost overnight; yet due to its unique topography we can access it no matter how high or low the water. The Forest Service has bought up the surrounding lots, creating a 10 mile Conservation corridor supporting the National Scenic Florida Trail, it's clearly marked footpaths and natural attractions. To that end, we have left the old growth upland forest the way we found it. The campsite is a natural feature as is the Zen deck and canoe launch, a swale draining the ridge. The campsite is level, the lane to the river slopes gently dropping in elevation 20 feet over 1,000 in making it easy for able bodied guests to navigate their way to the white sugar sand beach. We want to share our retreat with those who are looking for a real wilderness experience in an exclusive private setting. A Waiver of Liability is required by all guests as the Wilderness is an inherently dangerous place. We only offer one accommodation per weekend with a maximum of 8 people, because we only have 1 toilet, so our guests can have the seclusion they desire and be free to enjoy the natural wonder of the woodland experience in any manner they choose.

Boaters – Private boat ramp is 200 yards up the road on the Santa Fe, public boat ramps within 10 miles on the Santa Fe and Suwannee rivers. Weekend Trip to Santa Fe Riverfront / Ichetucknee

We loved that it had a pole barn & concrete pad. It made the trip nice because it rained one afternoon...but having cover it didn't bother us. It is a great property. The river was really clear. There is a great dock & ladder to get in the water. ( it was a bit chilly, we didn't do that. ) But great for the summer. Cell service isn't great, so download movies if you watch those at night. We heard an owl at night, the stars were beautiful. Nice & quiet .... very relaxing.

Loved Bowman’s and will definitely go back! Site #2 was right next to the launch so it was easy to get our kayaks in the river. The site was tucked just enough away from the rest of the property that you had some quiet without feeling completely isolated. The hosts were kind and available to help. They have wood for purchase on site which was really nice. The indoor bathroom was a great feature especially with the hot shower. They also have a microwave and coffee maker in a communal space. Ichetucknee Springs park was only a ~10 min drive away too if you want to explore outside of camp.

We had a nice stay, and all the hookups worked well. There are actually three RV sites total: two with hookups (one including sewer) and a third spacious spot near the river if you are okay boondocking. A huge bonus is that the owner does not rent the other spots to anyone else—all three are yours to enjoy during your stay! Our dogs loved having such a big grassy field to run in. Plus, it’s only a 3-minute drive into Branford for any stores or supplies you might need.

This place is awesome. Really love having 2 acres to yourself. Our 2nd time here, both on long weekends. Absolutely recommend this campsite. Very peaceful with the river literally right there!! Kim the host is very responsive if anything is needed.

Absolutely fantastic hipcamp, this is was the exact reason why we love to hipcamp: connection, safety, and adventure. By far my favorite so far. The host was so lovely and immediately made this place feel safe and like home. From the thoughtful details like a tree swing and coffee station to the cozy cabin itself with a fire pit, we felt at home miles from our own. I will most definitely be back with my family and friends.

This place was amazing! Very peaceful place, with tons to do. They had a coffee bar with a community fridge, and a grill area with tons of options to use. Also the restroom area was very clean and they provided heaters or fans in there. There is a sand pile for the kids with tonka trucks to play, 2 swings around the grounds, boats, and my favorite part was the bicycles to use!! There is only 2 tents sites, we stayed on #2 which I recommend for a perfect view of the river. Also the cabins were really cool, especially the two in the woods away from thr river if you want to be secluded. The hosts were very friendly, offering tons of advice on the area, even told us to go across the river fkr hiking the war grounds to hunt for artifacts which we had no idea was there. I cant wait to go back!!

Great spot for camping in the primitive sites around two ponds, or anywhere around the property. There was a cabin with hot water, shower, flush toilet, and electricity which was nice when needed, otherwise we stuck to our little spot most of the time. My AWD vehicle was fine for cruising around the property as long as the soft spots were avoided, although we could have brought a side by side/4-wheeler/utv, etc which would have been fun. We spotted an alligator, an otter, and fish in the ponds which was a fun surprise. There are lots of trees, which was perfect for shade, and we had an awesome view of the stars when closer to the ponds since the site is far enough away from light pollution. Also, it was nice that there was a gas station within five minutes should something be forgotten. We definitely would camp here again, and could even do so with a larger group. Paul was a wonderful host, very friendly and communicative.

This is a well appointed site directly on the beautiful and clear Santa Fe River with access to the Ichnetucknee River via boat and the neighborhood parks. It is great for families or groups camping together. There are two covered full RV sites, a sandy beach and solid covered boathouse and fishing dock. We had a great time in cold, drizzly weather and can’t wait to return in better weather to fully enjoy the properties amenities.

About

Come to Stephen Foster and get your glockenspiel on. That’s right, that xylophone-looking instrument, well this park has one and although here it’s called a 97-bell carillon, same diff. Why? We thought you’d never ask! Because one Stephen Foster, after which the park is named, composed over 200 songs on this nifty little instrument (little being very relative here) and his tunes can be heard playing from the folk museum throughout the day. This mixed forest park along the stone-studded banks of the Suwannee River also pays tribute to the days of old by craft making demonstrations such as quilting, blacksmithing, stained glass making and others. Canoeing, kayaking and freshwater fishing are popular in the river and hiking, biking and horseback riding can be enjoyed on Carter Camp’s ten miles of off-road trails. Numerous other trails, such as Foster’s Hammock Loop Trail, will also let you explore the high river bluffs, limestone outcroppings and floodplain swamp forests. Lots of critters at this park, so be on the lookout for gopher tortoises, frogs, box and snapping turtles, wood duck, white-tailed deer, alligators and other birds!
