Sit outside on the deck and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature and at night the sound of the waterfall will lull you to sleep. The shower is located in the Lodge bathhouse. Your GPS may tell you to turn at the wrong St. Make sure that you are turning at 244th...Your GPS may tell you to turn at 243rd Street (where the Orange Market it) which is a dead end street. Just go a little bit further until you see the sign for Camp Seminole Spring. Bring bug spray and sun screen. If you need something, don't worry! There is a Dollar General, a gas station and a small cafe within walking distance. We have 38 acres of camping sites nature trails for hiking and mountain biking. Guests can park right on their site, or they have the option of parking and hiking into the woods to set up their site a bit more remote and off the beaten path. This is rustic camping. We have a bathhouse located at the campsites with showers. The bathhouse at the Great Lodge hereas we do have garbage cans, we prefer that anything you bring into the property, you bring out with you. We allow campfires. Don't be surprised if you see a monkey or two in the trees... The fishing is amazing in these parts, so if you are an angler, come and visit. We have .75 miles of frontage on the Orange Creek. The creek flows into Lake Ocklawaha which just so happens to be one of the best bass fishing lakes in the USA. In fact, ten-pound bass are not uncommon from the Lake Ocklawaha River in the winter. Recently (2020), a 17.2-pound bass was caught there. The combined Ocklawaha and St. Johns drainage basin is possibly the most significant river-estuary waterway of Florida. This water system is of legendary reputation among anglers of largemouth bass who seek 10 pound plus trophy fish. Conveniently located between Ocala and Gainesville in the heart of Orange Springs, Florida, Camp Seminole Spring is perfectly located for the traveler who wants to really connect with nature. It appears to be ‘off the beaten path’, yet it is close enough to civilization so that even the most seasoned camper can make a quick run to store should he or she need something not found in nature. Camp Seminole Spring is mid-way (approx.. 22 miles) between Ocala and Gainesville, Florida, which are two thriving cities in this area of Florida. Ocala, the ‘horse capital of the world’ showcases a brand new multi-billion-dollar equestrian center which draws people from all over the world. This scenic property has an artesian spring which pushes out 1.6 million gallons of water per day rated among the top three percent of water in the world with an 8.4 natural pH. This water fills the pond and then continues on to flow into Orange Creek. Camp Seminole Springs was established in the 1940’s as a honeymoon resort and campground. The founders built a heart-shaped ‘pond-spring’ which is filled with the crystal-clear water pushed out from the spring where guests can lounge by the beach or gaze down into the bottom through the glass-like water or take a refreshing swim. At the top of the hill overlooking the heart-shaped spring, one will find the rustic Great Lodge where guests can come and mingle with each other, enjoy a relaxing conversation and a drink on the veranda or just sit and watch the activity in and around the spring.

Our guests love staying here: "Camping at Gayle’s property was an amazing experience. We shared the field with 3 other campers but there was still plenty of room between sites. Land is flat and has fire pit spaces and BBQ grills. Outdoor shower was appreciated even though we didn’t use it & it was great to have the port-o-potty on site. The best part was getting to see the animals!"

When you stay with us, you are welcome to explore the sanctuary and interact with the animals after a brief introduction. The only place off limits is our cow pasture. But you can book a cow cuddle if you'd like to hug the fluffy cows, especially the Highland cow. It is a wonderful experience for the cow lovers. Come on out to the country for the experience of a lifetime interacting with sweet farm animals in luxury accommodations or bring your own RV or a tent and "rough" it in your choice of spots on our beautiful 20 acre property surrounded by lots of amazing wild creatures of all sorts and our friendly animal ambassadors. We have butterfly gardens, one with a bee hive, and we're surrounded by natural woodlands in a convenient yet private and peaceful setting. Maybe you'll spot a bald eagle getting a meal from our ponds! There's so much to see and enjoy right here at the sanctuary, we have over 100 rescued animals who can't wait to meet you and maybe bum a snack from you too. You are welcome to bring snacks to feed the animals or buy some from our gift shop. If you get bored, there is plenty to do nearby: Goldhead Park, a paved Bike Trail, Jacksonville, St Augustine, High Springs, Ocala and Gainesville are all within an hour's drive. Melrose is quaint and rural. We don't rush here. Except at feeding time! You'll get to experience that too if you get out early enough. (9AM) We can't wait to meet you! You'll come as a guest and leave as a friend! No smoking in our units, no pets due to our animals and our Anatolian guard dog who will love you but not a pooch they don't know. Brian’s property was a great spot for us! He greeted us and lead us to our spot and then we found out his wife Phyllis bakes muffins and cookies so we bought some muffins for breakfast. They were delicious! We had a problem with our RV not starting on the morning we were supposed to leave and Brian was extremely helpful in giving us assistance with finding a mechanic that could help us. Brian even towed our bus to the repair shop with his tractor! We were very grateful and would definitely recommend this property because of its safe location and the wonderful people who own it. Great Hipcamp experience!

Great Stay…. Host is awesome with communications. When I arrived, Jen came out to greet me. She shared some of the places in town to eat and things to do. Finding the place was very easy, although I encourage you to come in while the sun is up…. It gets really dark. The sky is wonderfully dark at night. I thought I saw shooting stars, but based on the news it was a Chinese rocket falling…. Regardless, the dark skies made the star gazing extraordinary. The place is about 20 minutes from St. Augustine, which was perfect for me. The Venus camping spot is very close to the road, but there was no traffic to speak of all night on that road. The Venus camping spot could hold my 20 foot truck, but I wouldn’t try fitting in a rig any bigger. The animals are all friendly and Jen encouraged me to pet them. She did share to pet the pigs on the top of their heads, least the pigs think I am giving them some food. 😊 Besides the chickens, there were lots of birds, including some miniature hummingbirds, that visited. I will absolutely be back! Great place, great host.

Welcome to our unique campground, where the beauty of nature meets the comfort of well-maintained RV living. To ensure that your RV remains in excellent condition, it is essential to wash it every four months. You are welcome to wash your RV on-site, and you will receive a notice when it's time for your RV wash. Please complete the provided form and submit it to the office once you have finished. Remember, the roof of your RV also requires cleaning. If you prefer, you may hire a professional to wash your RV. They must check in at the office upon arrival, and all washing must occur during normal business hours. To maintain the aesthetic of our campground, all RVs must be in good condition and no older than 15 years. Please ensure your RV is clean and free from duct tape or tarps. Additionally, all guests must keep their RVs and vehicles registered and up to date. For safety and maintenance, keep water and sewer hoses close to your RV to prevent damage from lawn care equipment. All sewer hoses must be securely threaded and properly connected to your sewer connection, with no duct tape, broken connectors, or cracks. Freshwater hoses should not leak, and the backflow preventer installed on the hose bib must remain intact, as required by the

About

Discover the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States in St. Augustine, Florida. The Castillo offers plenty to do year-round, thanks to Florida's warm climate, so you'll never have a dull moment. Period-dressed volunteers and Rangers hold cannon firings four times per day on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Make your way up to the gun deck to see the city to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. From this vantage point, you can see why the Spanish decided to build a fort here. The Castillo protected any ships going in and out of port, as well as a perfect defense for the city.

In its more than 300 years of history, this fort was never taken in battle. It's probably because the thick walls were fireproof and could handle cannon fire from ships entering the harbor. When the Spanish built the Castillo, they built it to last.

The Spanish controlled St. Augustine to lay claim to this part of the New World. This fort represented the crown's assertion that Florida belonged to Spain. It wasn't until 1821 that the territory became part of the United States. When the British controlled Florida in the late 1700s, held prisoners from the Revolutionary War here. Three signers of the Declaration of Independence spent time within the Castillo's thick stone walls.

St. Augustine is a beautiful city filled with history and a vibrant culture. The Castillo is just one stop of many to see in the oldest city in America. Plenty of campsites in the area offer year-round options for you and your family.

I’m more into nature and less crowds so enjoyed the camping more than the city sightseeing. Staff was nice at the monument but the crowd not so much.

A great historical lesson and sight to see. The old Spanish Fort is worth the tour and visit. There are plenty of intriguing historical places to visit while in St. Augustine, as well. Definitely worth the visit.
