Deer, coyotes, wild hogs, and other creatures roam freely. Any pets must stay fully leashed at all times (see below). Our day starts early in the summer as we harvest for market. We make every effort to be very quiet, but the field crops are close to your camp site. We will never run a tractor until after 11am. You may hear the greenhouse fans kick on starting around 9am when the system starts warming up. Pets - Are welcome if contained on a leash at all times. Bathrooms - are located next to the store and a short walk from your tent site. Site - Is on level ground for tents campers RV vans and more. There is a fire pit, picnic table and water spigot. Escape to a private campsite in rural Alabama. The property is surrounded by forest and wildlife. There are several places to hang a hammock and plenty of room for outdoor games like cornhole. The city of Columbus is about 25 minutes away and offers white water rafting, zip lining, axe throwing, a river-walk, and other activities. There are plenty of lakes and rivers to go fishing. Auburn is about 40 mins away. The site offers an outhouse, fire pit, fire pit grill rack for cooking, platform (which can be used for small/medium tents, or to hold a table and chairs) and a hiking trail that is about 1/3 of a mile. Small cars are able to access campsite and park at site pretty easily. The property also has natural wildlife like coyotes, snakes, spiders, ants, etc.. Alabama can also get very hot during June, July, August. Please prepare accordingly. Meeting at the front of the property is not needed, just drive to your hipcamp and set up 🙂 Please message me about any concerns! About us: My wife and I bought this property in 2020 with the goal of turning this land into a homestead. We plan on building a home eventually and have cleared out our homesite. My mom and stepfather live at the front of the property and can help you if needed. My stepfather is retired and my mother works as a nurse assistant in town. It’s a nice country experience, I believe you will enjoy!

We love the outdoors, so naturally, we love to camp. We were looking for a few properties that would allow us to get away and camp in a secluded area where we can enjoy nature. We found this property, and with its proximity to Lake Eufaula and George Bagby State Park, we knew that it was a perfect location. So now we want to make this property available for your enjoyment as well! Learn more about this land: Come and enjoy the great outdoors at Lake Eufaula (Walter F. George Reservoir). With your private RV site being located next to the entrance to George Bagby State Park, you will have easy access to all the activities and amenities that the lake and park have to offer. Whether you enjoy fishing, swimming, biking, kayaking, canoeing, wildlife viewing, a nature walk, or if you just want to relax by a fire at your campsite, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors during your stay. The Park has a really nice boat landing, which is less than 1/2 mile from our lot, so it is very convenient to launch your boat. It also has a marina that is only $10 per day if you want to leave your boat at the lake while you are there, or you can just tie it up at the park if you want to head back to your campsite for a break during the day.  When you get back to the park with your catch you can make good use of the fish cleaning station as well. There are also picnic tables, a playground, a really nice swimming area, large pavilions, a restaurant, tennis courts, and a golf course at the Park as well. If you like wildlife viewing, you can take a walk or a bike ride on the paved bike path which is over 3 miles long. It is rare to walk or ride this path without seeing deer or other wildlife (refer to the pics section for more detail of the walking/bike path).  We also see deer from our campsite, more often than not, when we are there. Even though there are other residents on this drive, our lot backs up to a large wooded parcel of land and the lot next to this site is vacant, so you will have plenty of privacy during your stay.  Our RV is on another site on this property, but we normally won't be there if the site is booked so that our guests will have the whole property to themselves.  However, sometimes we have to come in on Friday evening to complete landscape maintenance on our other properties, if so, we will leave on Saturday afternoon.  This site has the following amenities: 1 acre of land with plenty of shade, a level gravel pad, and a fire pit. It also has a full hookup with electric, water, sewer, and free WIFI. We pay for garbage pickup as well, so there is a large can provided for your convenience (pickup is usually on Monday around 8 am).  This 1-acre site has more privacy than most campgrounds because there are no other campers 20' away and very few people live on this drive. The site has easy access, as it is just a short distance off of the paved entrance road to the park (refer to map in pics section for more detail on location). NOTE: Our site is not on the water, the pics of the lake are from areas within walking distance from our site.  When it comes to tent camping, we don't mind if you add a tent, but you must have an RV with a bathroom because there are no bathroom facilities on-site. Can you picture yourself here for a relaxing time at the Lake during the day, or enjoying a campfire at night? If so, go ahead and book this RV site for a getaway while the dates are available! Helpful Information:   If you need to shop, there is a Dollar General, Rubos Grocery, convenience stores (gas and bait), bulk ice machine with filtered drinking water, etc. in Fort Gaines which is only 3 miles away.   Also, there is an annual park pass available ($25 for seniors) that will allow you to visit any Georgia state park as many times as you would like throughout the year of purchase, which can be purchased at the lodge in Bagby. Other parks and places to visit-  Historic are of Fort Gaines 4 miles, East Bank Park 2.5 miles, Kolomoki Mounds State Park 17 miles, Providence Canyon State Park 37 miles, Yoholo Micco Trail 22 miles. We also have a 2 bd/2bth mobile home on a 1-acre lot across the road that we rent out as a short-term rental.  So if you need more room for family or friends, this may be an option for you. If you need any more information or you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Welcome to your unplugged getaway in rural Georgia! Our stationary 1995 Four Winds RV sits quietly on our small homestead, just 18 minutes from Providence Canyon State Park—known as “Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon.” This cozy camper is the perfect retreat for travelers who want to rest, recharge, and reconnect with nature. Inside the RV, you’ll find an updated interior with modern comforts: a stainless-steel refrigerator big enough for your weekend groceries, a comfortable bed, hot shower, A/C and heat, and a simple kitchen setup for cooking. It’s not a luxury cabin—it’s an RV with character—but it’s clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared for your stay. This is a true digital detox stay: there is no Wi-Fi on the property. Most cell carriers have some service here, but many guests love this space precisely because it allows them to unplug. Bring a book, journal, or deck of cards, and let the quiet surround you. Nights are especially magical with clear skies and bright stars far from city lights. During the day, explore Providence Canyon with its stunning red and orange canyon walls, or head to Florence Marina State Park for fishing, birdwatching, and lake views. When you return, you can relax by the RV, listen to the sounds of country life (including our free-range chickens), and enjoy a peaceful evening outdoors. We’re the only RV stay in this area, so you won’t find another experience like it nearby. Guests often tell us it feels like stumbling on a hidden gem—quiet, safe, and refreshing. Whether you’re a couple looking for a budget-friendly weekend trip, a solo traveler craving downtime, or friends passing through on a southern road trip, this space is designed for slowing down. Things to know before booking: • No Wi-Fi (unplugged by design). • Cell service varies by carrier. • This is a working homestead—you may hear roosters in the morning! • No parties, smoking indoors, or pets (to protect our flock). • Please treat our space and animals with care. If you’re looking for a simple, peaceful base near Providence Canyon where you can breathe deeply, sleep soundly, and enjoy a break from screens, this is it. Book your stay today—we’d love to share our little corner of Georgia with you.

Overview

About

From the presidency to the Nobel Peace Prize, Jimmy Carter has left his mark on the nation. And it all started in Plains, Georgia, Jimmy's hometown. Want to learn more about this beloved former president? This historic area features several key sites located across the rural town.

Plains' main draw is the Carter Boyhood Farm. Owned by Jimmy's family from 1928 to 1949, this humble residence molded the president during his early years. Walk through the wayside exhibits, or embark on a Ranger-guided tour on the weekends. The whole place takes about an hour to see. A barn, a blacksmith shop, and a working garden are a blast from the past.

Next stop—the Plains High School. This is where Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter both spent their teenage years. Today, the building offers a new type of learning experience. The exhibits and historic furnishings offer a glimpse of the former president and first lady's everyday lives.

You can't visit Jimmy's hometown without seeing the Plains Train Depot. Built in 1888, this is the oldest building in town. Here you find exhibits detailing Jimmy Carter's senate and presidential campaigns.

Wrap up your day at the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail. The short trek is a conservation effort spearheaded by the first lady herself. Butterflies flutter around milkweed, parsley, and other flowering plants that help the creatures thrive.

All stops throughout the historic site include a cell phone audio tour. Just dial the number shown on the tour signs to get started. If you have some extra time, check out the antique stores and cafes in Plains' historic district.

For a taste of presidential history, Plains is definitely worth a stop. Jimmy Carter fans and history buffs of all stripes are sure to come away satisfied.
