Piney Hills Campground was the perfect place to kick off our road trip! We only stayed one night, but it was exactly what we needed, and I would absolutely stay here again if I'm ever back in the area.
The campground is tucked away in the peaceful countryside of Mauk, Georgia, and has such a charming, relaxing atmosphere. They offer a little bit of everything—primitive campsites, adorable yurts, RV sites, and more comfortable campsites like the one we stayed in.
We stayed at Site 3, which had a nice view of the main house and one of the horses. If you're looking for the best sunset views, I'd recommend requesting Site 4. It has a platform overlooking the small farm and is the perfect spot to enjoy the evening.
One thing people should know is that there is a train nearby, and you'll hear it every 15–30 minutes or so. Unless you're an extremely light sleeper who needs complete silence, I don't think it's an issue. It certainly didn't take away from our experience.
The bathhouse was clean, cute, and had hot showers. My only suggestion for improvement would be the motion-sensor lights—they turn off pretty quickly, so you'll find yourself waving your arms while you're in the shower or even sitting in the restroom to keep the lights on.
There's also a small camp store, which is a nice bonus. We arrived at 6:00 p.m. and left around 10:00 the next morning, so we didn't have a chance to explore everything, but our stay was peaceful, quiet, and very enjoyable.

Awesome site, and the facilities were great.!The host was very kind and helpful. We had a wasps nest above the platform and left a message for the host about the minor issues. She took no time at all and showed up to the site with wasp spray. Also gave us a little more information about the campground while we were waiting for the wasp spray to kick in.Will definitely be back again.

The place was quite and peaceful. The directions and instructions were clear. The facilities were clean and I enjoyed my evening there. If the small A-frame house could have a second outlet so that the AC could use one and I could charge items on a second that would make this perfect. Regardless I did still enjoy my time!

Although just a one-night stay, this was the perfect reset I needed. I booked space number five, which has a platform. Glad I did because the covering sheltered my tent from the rain. I think being elevated a little kept my tent base dry, too. (I did put a tarp down first and had my rain fly on.)
The campsites are nicely spaced for privacy. The bathhouse was very clean and the running, hot water was much appreciated.
I met some of the resident farm animals and they are so sweet.
At night, I listened to insects and birds and saw fireflies. My dog camped with me and he enjoyed the serenity of the visit.
I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m in the area.

I had a very relaxing time at Lisa and Jame’s Hipcamp. They greeted me when I arrived, and were very welcoming. I stayed at site #5 (which had a covered platform) which was very spacious. The bath house was very clean, and the shower nice and warm.
I have AT&T, and I didn’t get service at the site (which wasn’t important to me), but a quick walk to the bath house and I could get cell service and also connect to their WiFi.
Overall, a nice relaxing getaway to unplug!

We tent camped on platform and shelter and it was great, for add on when we arrived the tent was set up and firewood and golf cart was waiting for us to take my wife and I on some time we needed to get away.
Love the trails and the animals they have .

Loved the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful evenings and beautiful sunrise. We were actually in Lot 17, right across from the bathrooms, which was nice since we were sleeping in a camper shell. The only drawback was that there were no regular outlets, it’s only equipped for RV’s. But overall wonderful sta!

It was private and quiet. We arrived late at night and it was great that we could just go straight to the site. The directions were spot-on and the bath house was clean and functional. We also had the bonus experience of two emu in the field next to the campsite.

The property is so pretty and camp site 7 is very nice since the pine trees basically surround the site. The ponies were so adorable, bathroom clean and stocked. Hot showers and laundry on property. I wish I had more time at the property. Definitely a 10 of 10 experience

Very cool spot especially if you want to see the farm animals, it’s well kept and clean. We were there when it wasn’t busy but the camps sights are a pretty close so if you were to have neighbors you won’t have much privacy unless you’re inside. I would definitely recommend the host to include some utensils, cups, and bowls even plastics would be fine. Also grill tools even just a scrubber to clean it off. Aside from small gripes it was a great stay very pleased would stay again!

We had such an incredible stay at the Tiny Red Cabin! The peace and quiet were exactly what we were looking for, it was the perfect escape from everyday life. We loved cooking out back while taking in the beautiful, open views of the sky, and walking the property trails at sunset was absolutely stunning.
Lisa and James were amazing hosts and made us feel extremely welcome from the start. They were always happy to help, and Lisa went above and beyond by offering to set up a wine tasting for us, which was such a thoughtful and special touch. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience and can’t wait to come back!

Bathrooms are very clean but not heated for winter. Lisa and James were very helpful when my granddaughters’ rented RV’s heat went out in the middle of the night. They came right away to fix it.

My husband and I stayed Thanksgiving weekend. Very friendly & responsive hosts. Ample space at our site. We had a problem with our slide upon arrival; James took a look but was unable to help but did give suggestions of someone who could.
Bath houses were clean!!!
Site had its own grill, table, fire pit.
Farm animals were very friendly.
My only negative was the hot water pressure was not good so I couldn’t take advantage of the showers
But everything else was super nice!!

We had an amazing time. It was supposed to be a quick overnight stop. We got in late, 10pm. We had little mix up with the site. James & Lisa came right out. Took great care of us and even helped us get hooked up. The next morning came over to check on us too. Amazing hosts. Very attentive and kind. Then the location.. in the daylight is amazing. We all had fun taking the golf cart to see the animals and through the trails. The amenities were clean and lots of hot water. The property is beautiful and fun. Will definitely stay here again. The kids are already asking to go back on our way home.

Fantastic little campground with extremely helpful hosts. Here’s what I liked about it.
There was lighting, but not too much.
Sites were roomy with a small fire pit, picnic tables, and a charcoal grill.
The individual bathrooms were clean, warm and convenient. A hot shower was great to get after a long day on the road.
It was quiet with a few outdoor country sounds, like owls, a dog in the distance and a rooster at sunup.
I’d recommend this place to anyone.
