Blackbird Farm

3 sites · RVs, Tents100 acres · Buena Vista, GA
We are a working aquaponics farm, located in Marion Co Georgia. From maps it shows that we are about 13 miles straight line distance from Columbus Georgia. That would be true if you could drive through Fort Moore, which you can't so in reality we are actually about 35 mins or 23 miles from Columbus. The drive is pleasant with very little traffic. Our campsite sits beyond the gate in front of our small farm/general store. There are rustic bathrooms with hot water, free WiFi and plenty to do! We encourage you to hike, bike, and explore. The store is not open at this time, and the Greenhouse is available by request. Deer, coyotes, wild hogs, and other creatures roam freely. Any pets must stay fully leashed at all times (see below). Our day starts early in the summer as we harvest for market. We make every effort to be very quiet, but the field crops are close to your camp site. We will never run a tractor until after 11am. You may hear the greenhouse fans kick on starting around 9am when the system starts warming up. Pets - Are welcome if contained on a leash at all times. Bathrooms - are located next to the store and a short walk from your tent site. Site - Is on level ground for tents campers RV vans and more. There is a fire pit, picnic table and water spigot. The water is not well water and comes from the county main water line. There is a main highway leading up to our gate so you do not have to off road to get to the property.

Pine And Oak Campsite

2 sites · RVs, Tents30 acres · Ladonia, AL
Escape to a private campsite in rural Alabama. The property is surrounded by forest and wildlife. There are several places to hang a hammock and plenty of room for outdoor games like cornhole. The city of Columbus is about 25 minutes away and offers white water rafting, zip lining, axe throwing, a river-walk, and other activities. There are plenty of lakes and rivers to go fishing. Auburn is about 40 mins away. The site offers an outhouse, fire pit, fire pit grill rack for cooking, platform (which can be used for small/medium tents, or to hold a table and chairs) and a hiking trail that is about 1/3 of a mile. Small cars are able to access campsite and park at site pretty easily. The property also has natural wildlife like coyotes, snakes, spiders, ants, etc.. Alabama can also get very hot during June, July, August. Please prepare accordingly. Meeting at the front of the property is not needed, just drive to your hipcamp and set up 🙂 Please message me about any concerns! About us: My wife and I bought this property in 2020 with the goal of turning this land into a homestead. We plan on building a home eventually and have cleared out our homesite. My wife is currently in the army and we are stationed in northern Virginia. My mom and stepfather live at the front of the property and can help you if needed. My stepfather is retired and my mother works as a nurse assistant in town. It’s a nice country experience, I believe you will enjoy!

Camping in Providence Canyon State Park guide

Overview

About

Providence Canyon is often called “Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon,” but this park has an entirely different backstory. Rather than being naturally formed via a powerful river, this canyon is the result of short-sighted, 19th-century agricultural practices that created deep gullies—up to 150 feet deep in some places. Today, these gullies are excellent places to explore. Stroll along the rim trail, or take a hike inside the deepest canyons. If one day isn’t enough, you can camp at one of the backcountry sites along the backcountry trail, which highlights portions of the canyon and winds through mixed forest.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Providence Canyon campsites are popular, especially in summer, so booking in advance is recommended.
  2. Bookings can easily be done online and up to one year in advance.
  3. Go ahead and book if you see a date you want—reservations can be changed one time without penalty (although additional changes will incur a fee).

When to go

Providence Canyon State Park is open year-round. Winter might be the best time to visit, as the absence of foliage makes the landscape even more dramatic and the dark night skies provide excellent stargazing. On the other hand, the rare plumleaf azalea grows only in this region and blooms during July and August when most other azaleas have lost their color.

Know before you go

  • A ParkPass is required for all vehicles and is not included with a reservation. Overnight guests pay only one ParkPass fee for the duration of their stay.
  • The hike-in distance to the closest campsite from the parking lot is two miles and is considered strenuous.
  • Visitors are urged to use caution on trails and to not go beyond fences or overlooks. Erosion can cause the canyon walls to collapse.
  • Campers must check in at the Providence Canyon visitor's center with sufficient time to hike to their campsite before dusk.
