Welcome to our page! Oak Grove Campsite is a beautiful, private campground near Savannah Ga. The campsite is nestled underneath one of our large oaks completed with plenty of room to roam around. Some of the features include a picnic table, large lighted firepit, hammock, wood swing, etc. We also have swings sets and a few other features for the kiddos.

Hi, I'm Curt. My wife Ani, son Fitch, and I are your average, everyday nonconformists who have been running an experiment. We are trying to figure out if a family can use their own hands and some grit to handcraft a life that you don't need a vacation from. Or better yet, that you would vacation to. Have we done that? Years ago we left our Miami handcrafted furniture business to pursue this new goal. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living that would find a harmony between the helpful aspects of the modern world and the good parts of the old, that maybe society should have held tight to. We wanted to play with this idea...while keeping it classy ;-)
At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cottages, using solar energy, composting organics, sewing and reaping, in a way that is fair to our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" slow, simple living can feel. We all have personal priorities, and those will vary greatly. But within that, we can all include ways of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our neighbors.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate our perspectives and some of our old-fashioned ways. Our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm. You can imagine, it has been a ton of work, sacrifice and expense to create a very special camp atmosphere. Any donation to show appreciation for its use, if even for a single night, is a valuable support to our efforts.
*** Special Note: Heirloom has one full-hookup site for medium sized setups, that we use for long term month-to-month stays. Heirloom is our home, so we are judicious in determining that the guests that stay there are a good match for us and them.

The plantation is rich in Civil War history and people still find arrowhead 's, Civil war buttons and other Civil War related items on the dirt roads where the soldiers marched through the plantation. I was the first person to purchase property here in 1995 in what is known as Moultrie Plantation. This is a private property community with its own private dirt road. The plantation is rich in Civil War history and people still find arrowhead 's, Civil war buttons and other Civil War related items on the dirt roads where the soldiers marched through the plantation. The farm was once a portion of the McTureus Plantation. Tony's family members were once enslaved on the plantation. Upon Emancipation a family member bought land and it remained in the family. Great campground tucked away with a quiet, charming feel. Close proximity to nearby islands such as Sapelo, Blackbeard and many others for exploring. The campground is accompanied by a Marina making trips like these super streamline especially in the event you need to dock a boat or fuel up on gas. The bathrooms and showers were clean!!!
Side note - the owner was down to earth, super friendly, and very interesting to talk to! One of those rare, wise storytellers with a wealth of knowledge, you just want to sit and listen!! Super relatable, very cool guy! Also have to mention the Mayor, "Mayor Richard" that is, who welcomed us and got us quickly situated. Really cool man, extremely helpful, and fun! We'll be back!

If you love engineering and tech, you'll find the tour here fascinating. Take a look at how the fort was built and how new Union inventions overcame its sheer size. Keep your eyes open for a cannonball embedded in the masonry walls. The buildings and the grounds are all beautifully preserved, and there's a lot to view and to learn about.
Yes, there's a self-guided tour, and all the signage helps you really understand what you're seeing and why it matters. But the guided tours are the real gem here. The tour guides really know their stuff.
Located right on the Savannah River, this fort offers some serious views of the river and marshland around it. Yes, you can take your dog for a walk here, but be prepared for extremely warm weather. While there's no camping available on Tybee Island itself, you can find plenty of spots for camping, glamping, and RVs at farms, retreat centers, and beaches all around Savannah.
