The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

Property is a short five minute walk to Little River Springs, with several more springs in the surrounding area. This area is great for swimming, diving, and enjoying Florida. The FOLC Farm (Florida Outdoor Learning Collective) is a homestead, outdoor learning center, and community event space in Gainesville, FL. This is the closest camping site to Gainesville. Situated on 5 wooded acres, The FOLC Farm is only minutes from downtown Gainesville and the University of Florida by car or bike trail, and within walking distance of Payne's Prairie State Park La Chua Trail, Boulware Spring, Sweetwater Preserve trail system, and the Hawthorne bike trail. Guests are welcome at the occasional public social events held onsite (separate from the campground). At The FOLC Farm, you will find the perfect blend of nature, culture, and convenience. At the entrance of the property is a self-contained, family-friendly campground with nine non-electric sites (five tent sites and four car camping sites). You may also rent the entire campground for your private group (please message to inquire). At the campground, you have access to a shared campfire, picnic tables, grill, composting toilet, sink with running water, shower with hot water, changing room, and some art supplies and games to enjoy during your stay. The host lives on the homestead and is available if you need assistance. Please note: We love dogs and have an elderly chihuahua on site. Your pet must be kept leashed or in your personal tent at all times as is standard with most campgrounds. Dogs cannot be left unattended on the property while you are gone. Dogs who bark or may become aggressive with people or dogs they do not know are not allowed at The FOLC Farm as there may be other campers and dogs near you. If your dog is barking, growling, being a nuisance to others, or is off leash, you will be required to leave. The five tent sites are within the campground circle where no cars are allowed for camper safety. The parking area is within 150 feet (45 meters) of the various sites, and a cart is available to move your gear. Sites are 25–50 feet (8–15 meters) apart. This wooded 5-acre property is very close to thousands of acres of state park land and also adjacent to a rural/suburban neighborhood. Therefore, you can expect to hear both typical neighborhood sounds (cars, children) as well as wildlife such as Barred Owls, Sandhill Cranes, and occasional deer visits.

Our stay was FANTASTIC. The staff was extremely hospitable and treated us like family members who they wanted to be as comfortable and have as much fun as possible. The grounds are cute and well kept. There is so much to do at the site and perfect for campers with kids. If you want even more adventure you need only drive 10 min to the nearby springs. Would highly recommend, especially if you love swimming. We definitely plan on staying again!

Excellent location for a trip to Gainesville! Don't let the dead end fool you, it opens into a huge yard with ample room to maneuver. Upgraded milled pavement pad, really easy to get set up and level! Excellent water pressure, 30amp service so bring your dogbone if you have a 50amp trailer like we do. Easy to access sewer hookup as well. This is our fourth stay at Betsy's place and we absolutely love it. Great host very welcoming, it's just a delight! If you're coming to Gainesville to visit and you like to drag your own house with you this is the spot I can't recommend enough!

We loved camping at Black Water, Ms land it was so beautiful with river views and there was lots of things for the kiddos to do it was great fishing swimming and sand building we just really had enjoyable relaxing time and I had five kids under six so that says a lot they weren't ever bored.We also recommend the treasure hunt it was a hoot.We had wonderful time.

Kokomo Farms is such a refreshing and magical escape from reality! 🌿✨ There’s so much to do and explore, and getting up close with the animals and feeding them treats is such a sweet experience. The greenhouse is beautiful, with so many plants for sale! The gentleman who welcomes you is incredibly sweet and makes you feel right at home. Donna was so accommodating for my friend and I to reserve and check in quite late (10pm!). We decided last minute to get out of GNV on a Friday night full of partying college kids, and were welcomed by Donna and her husband, Floyd. The stay was so nice that we will be coming back asap! We were given a tour and told to have at it. We chose to car camp and it was so peaceful and safe that we were able to sleep fully in the open.

I enjoyed my stay at The FOLC Farm. The hostess, Catherine, was very responsive which I really appreciated since it was my first solo camping trip. The outdoor shower and access to the outdoor sink and composting toilet was very convenient. I sat in the Adirondack chairs in the evenings which was nice. I loved the location being so close to the trails and 20 minutes from other areas in Gainesville. A tip for other campers would be to bring your own water or a water filter. Although the well water is safe to drink, it has a strong sulfuric odor. I used the well water to take showers, wash dishes and brush teeth. The odor does not linger. It's just unappetizing. Also, if you're not from Florida, know that the state bird is the Palmetto Bug (giant flying roaches). Be aware that they like to hang out in the outhouse where the composting toilet is at night, but they clear out at first light. I used the outhouse during the day the whole time I was there and saw zero. Thanks again to everyone at The FOLC Farm! I definitely look forward to staying there again the next time I'm in Gainesville.

Had an awesome time the second time around! This is definitely a go-to spot for being on the River. Bring tick repellent - ticks are REAL bad in these woods! Grill grate over the fire pit makes for 5-star camping meals. The bathrooms and complimentary coffee station make Bowman’s feel like a slice of comfort during a rugged get-away. Can’t wait to come back again soon!
