Florida's gem-colored, healing spring waters are just a 20 minutes up the way and local retreat centers and yoga studios dot the area. Gator fans? Head into Gainesville for a game and to visit the University of Florida.

To note for all guests: We suggest arriving before dark so as to make set up easy and comfortable. We do not require a formal check-in and encourage being self-reliable in set up of primitive campsites. (For something with more structure and a space already set up, check out our Aframe cabin.) We do have water, a composting toilet, sink, and groundtemp shower for your use.

The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

Parking is allowed on site and set up is at your discretion. (Wood is available for your enjoyment and ease, but please only use what you need) Hosts are on site 24/7 for ease of making your stay comfortable and we will ensure all your needs are met in a timely fashion. This is PRIMITIVE camping site and would not be suitable for RV’s. Van camping is allowed and can hold up to three vans or cars. Small walking trails available behind the campsite. The FOLC Farm (Florida Outdoor Learning Collective) is a homestead, outdoor learning center, and community event space in Gainesville, FL. Situated on 5 wooded acres, The FOLC Farm is only minutes from downtown Gainesville and the University of Florida by car or bike trail, and within walking distance of Payne's Prairie State Park La Chua Trail, Boulware Spring, Sweetwater Preserve trail system, and the Hawthorne bike trail. Guests are welcome at the occasional public social events held onsite (separate from the campground). At The FOLC Farm, you will find the perfect blend of nature, culture, and convenience.
At the entrance of the property is a self-contained, family-friendly campground with nine non-electric sites (five tent sites and four car camping sites). You may also rent the entire campground for your private group (usually $300 on weekends, $200 on weekdays — please message to inquire). At the campground, you have access to a shared campfire, picnic tables, grill, composting toilet, sink with running water, shower with hot water, changing room, and some art supplies and games to enjoy during your stay. The host lives on the homestead and is available if you need assistance.
Please note:
The five tent sites are within the campground circle where no cars are allowed for camper safety. The parking area is within 150 feet (45 meters) of the various sites, and a cart is available to move your gear. Sites are 25–50 feet (8–15 meters) apart.
Dogs are not allowed for the safety and comfort of other campers. If your private group is renting the whole campground, you may bring a leashed pet when it is not in your tent or van.
If you are looking for a single private campsite far from town, this is not for you. However, if you would like to experience a campground on a working homestead and learning center, with the ability to interact with other guests if you wish, while still being conveniently close to downtown and trail systems, this is a great fit.
This wooded 5-acre property is very close to thousands of acres of state park land and also adjacent to a rural/suburban neighborhood. Therefore, you can expect to hear both typical neighborhood sounds (cars, children) as well as wildlife such as Barred Owls, Sandhill Cranes, and occasional deer visits.

This was our third trip out here. We usually book one of the larger sites, but this one was perfect for a weekend with my son.
Site #2 is simple, quiet, and private. Easy drive up access. Plenty of room for a tent and a solid fire setup. The river access is the highlight. Calm water. Clean shoreline. Great spot for morning coffee and winding down at night.
If you are bringing a larger group, book one of the bigger sites on the property. For two people, this one is dialed in.
Host communication was clear and consistent as always.

We camped at Big Oak Farm in our camper van. We stayed 3 nights. It was lovely. Hosts are super nice, the property is beautiful, and we loved watching their pigs, horses, emus, goats, and working farm dogs do their thing. They made sure we had everything we needed but also gave us plenty of privacy. This spot is a gem. This will be our go-to spot for this area.

Amazing camp spot! Loved the goats! Very well maintained. Appreciated the outhouse. Pick site 1 if you can. It has gravel and direct view of goats and all hook ups are on left side. Site 2 still has great pasture views and goats migrate several times of the day. Thank you Collins Farm! We’ll be back!

Loved Bowman’s and will definitely go back! Site #2 was right next to the launch so it was easy to get our kayaks in the river. The site was tucked just enough away from the rest of the property that you had some quiet without feeling completely isolated. The hosts were kind and available to help. They have wood for purchase on site which was really nice. The indoor bathroom was a great feature especially with the hot shower. They also have a microwave and coffee maker in a communal space. Ichetucknee Springs park was only a ~10 min drive away too if you want to explore outside of camp.

What a great hidden gem!! Although you are in someone’s backyard it feels very private and wooded. Between the giant trees surrounding the space and the amazing stars at night I will definitely be coming back! :) highly recommend!

This place is awesome. Really love having 2 acres to yourself. Our 2nd time here, both on long weekends. Absolutely recommend this campsite. Very peaceful with the river literally right there!! Kim the host is very responsive if anything is needed.

Off the beaten path is this secluded peaceful campground. I felt safe as a solo camper. This space was peaceful and not too far from stores like Publix and dollar tree. But it was definitely in the woods so you will be one with nature. I would highly recommend for families and solo campers. OH and I was very grateful for the nightlights hung around the trees because it's pitch black at night but the lights made it more cozy.

Great space and comfortably private. My dogs loved the freedom of chasing each other thru the large, open space and I didn't have to worry about not being able to see them!

1 night at Bowman's Landing
Absolutely fantastic hipcamp, this is was the exact reason why we love to hipcamp: connection, safety, and adventure. By far my favorite so far. The host was so lovely and immediately made this place feel safe and like home. From the thoughtful details like a tree swing and coffee station to the cozy cabin itself with a fire pit, we felt at home miles from our own. I will most definitely be back with my family and friends.

This campground is new, quiet, and well cared for. I loved all the clean infrastructure,, and Catherine is super kind and generous. Her place also has community music and classes sometimes. Whether you want tranquil camping to yourself, walking to the nearby parks and trails, or interact with good people, this is the best spot!

I absolutely loved this spot! It’s so tranquil and beautiful. We brought our small 20 foot camper, and we had no problems with any of the hook ups. This campground is incredibly well kept, and peaceful. The bathrooms, the outdoor showers, and the trash area were very clean. The cabin looks absolutely adorable. Big shoutout to Mr. Tim for letting our five year old son check out his tractor. This one of the nicest spots we’ve found so far and will most definitely be staying here again!

This space is awesome!! Great for families or big groups - we can't wait to return with some friends and take advantage of all of the fun stuff - trampoline, kayaks, play area for kids... we had the whole place to ourselves and our dogs loved running and playing in the river.
