We have two properties on the beautiful South Shore of Lake Superior in Port Wing, WI. At our lakefront property, we have 700' of shoreline and access to our private sand beach, perfect for swimming and bonfires! At our forest property, we have 68 acres of private trails weaving through the woods. Over the next few years, we'll be building more sites throughout our property to offer private, secluded lodging in a natural setting. We are planning to open up our first few sites in July 2024. The South Shore offers a bounty of activities and is much less crowded than the North Shore. Nearby, there are hiking trails, waterfalls, skiing, kayaking, paddling, ATV trails, and much more. Port Wing is halfway between Duluth/Superior and Bayfield, so it's the perfect spot to stay and visit all the South Shore sights!Enjoy a spectacular view of Lake Superior from your tent, as well as easy access to the lakeshore and private beach below. Our wildflower site was was recently replanted with native grasses and wildflowers (after our shoreline restoration project) and should make a soft bed underneath your tent. 2024 UPDATE: lake levels are LOW this year, so we have a huge stretch of sandy beach this year! TENTS ONLY / NO VEHICLES This a walk-in site only. We receive numerous messages every year asking if we allow vehicle access to the campsite (for vans, truck tents, trailers, etc). Due to the native plantings for our bluff restoration (anti-erosion) project, we cannot allow vehicles to drive on the lawn. Beach Access: On both sides of the site, there are trails down to the shoreline. They can be quite steep and slippery at times, so please exercise caution when using it. There are a few boulders that we use as steps at the bottom of the trail, which can be tricky to navigate, so it may be difficult for young kids or people with limited mobility. While the campsite itself is wheelchair accessible, the beach access is not. Toilet: We will have a portable restroom available on site starting May, 2024. Fires: Bonfires can be held on the beach whenever the fire danger level is low. Our private beach is almost always sandy, so it's a great place to sit around the fire. However, Lake Superior has quite a personality, so sometimes the sand disappears and there are rocks instead! If you walk a bit further toward the creek, you might find a bigger sandy area back by the mouth of the creek. And if you're into rock hunting, you can find agates on the beach! Electrical: We have an outdoor extension cord that can be used for electricity. EV Charger: We have a ChargePoint Level 2 charger you can use to charge your vehicle! Grill: Feel free to use the grill on our deck.

Great views, nice path to the lake. It felt very private. As others have mentioned, there is a small ring of rocks to use as a fire pit near the beach. We ended up bringing a portable fire pit which worked out well for us.

Had a great time at Sarah’s place! We got in at dark and could find the fire pit but Sarah was very responsive and let us know we could put the ring anywhere and the wood was free to use. The views are great!

Beautiful spot. As long as you are aware of the limited amenities, you'll be fine. It's camping, be resourceful :) I built a little rock fire ring near the stairs to the shore for us to use during our stay.

Not really what we expected.
This site was not what we expected. There was not a fire ring available for us to cook over and since we didn’t have service to reach out to the host we ended up booking a local camp site instead. When I reached out to the host to let her know it wasn’t what we expected and to ask for a refund her response was “why didn’t you ask us about the fire pit we had rocks from an old fire pit that you could have used to build a new one.” To charge money for a site that needs to be built by the visitor seems unreasonable. If you are just going for a night and don’t have plans to have a fire or cook then this site should be fine. But to me that’s not really camping at all.

This place is absolutely spectacular. The tent site is in a small cliff overlooking Lake Superior. Totally private. If this rental was $700 a night it would be worth every penny.

Phenomenal views
We loved this. The view is absolutely incredible. The site is comfortable. The flowers are lovely. Overall, ideal for us. We brought a small camping table and tie out cable and stake for our dogs — we’d recommend these for other dog-owner campers. Sarah’s land is well maintained — you can tell it’s caretakers take care. We hope to be back!
