Today you can stay on the abandoned property and explore what remains. All the equipment is already set up on the perfect site. Located on the edge of a pine grove, this site has a beautiful view of the Catskill Mountains. Plenty of space to have family and friends spread out, pop up tents and join on the adventure. Stay at and explore what was the site of The Catskill Game Farm, America's first and largest privately owned zoo. The tent is tucked into 203 mountainside acres with 100+ buildings and old animal shelters, 3.5 miles of paved pathways and remnants of the abandoned zoo still in tact. The site includes a large canvas tent with a queen size memory foam, fire-pit, picnic table, and we provide a jug of water. Please bring your own drinking water and bedding as well as camping gear for any other tents you want to set up at the campsite. Firewood is available for purchase and if you are bringing your own firewood it must be from within 50 miles of the site according to New York State Law. Please note: the interior stove that is seen in photos is no longer in the site due to past guests. Fido's Vineyard at Abandoned Zoo
This is my family’s second time going to Fido’s Vineyard and we would definitely go again! This is a great space for large groups as well as bringing your pets. The campsite is fenced in which allows your pets to roam freely without worrying about them wandering. Upon arriving at the campsite it was clean and stocked with some supplies to get your camping trip started. Shawn was a great host that responded quickly to my messages and provided us with extra supplies such as water & wood when we needed it. But the area is also close enough to gas stations, stores, and farmers markets if you decide to make a quick trip out for extra things! I highly recommend this site to others, we had a great time.

Fido's Vineyard at Abandoned Zoo
Camping at the Old Catskill Game farm with host Shawn was amazing! The kids had the time of their life, exploring the park, and getting a great tour with Shawn himself (and his pet goats). Really a great time and I highly recommend.

We stayed at the mountain view site for 10 people. The view was absolutely beautiful and plenty of room to spread out and roam the zoo. The site came with a tent with a comfy bed on a platform, picnic table and even fire pit grate for cooking. Very quiet and secluded area. I definitely will be returning to this site in the future.

We stayed at the Mountain View campsite we had an absolutely wonderful experience. The campsite was fantastic, offering a stunning view that you truly can't be beat. There was plenty of space to explore, which made our stay even more enjoyable. One of the highlights was walking through the abandoned zoo nearby; it was both eerie and fascinating, adding a unique touch to our stay. Shawn, the host, was incredibly accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor really enhanced our experience. Overall, I highly recommend this campsite. Everyone in our group had a fun time, especially my dog, who enjoyed every bit of the open space.
