Situated on 36 acres, this working farm is 2 miles
West of Taylors Falls. Dan bought this property with the intention of growing stone fruits (plums, peaches, apricots and
cherries) using sustainable and organic practices because health and wellness matter to them! They are still in the process of improving their property. Many of the building on the property were in poor condition, including the old barn foundation which is now one of Dan and Danielle favorite places to keep cool in the summer. Inside, you’ll find a warm and inviting space with a wood-burning stove, sitting area, and taxidermy décor that adds to the authentic rustic cabin atmosphere. The cabin comfortably sleeps up to six, with two double beds in the loft and one double bed on the main floor.
Step outside to cook over the outdoor fire pit, or take a peaceful walk along several private hiking trails on the property. Beyond our land, you’ll find picturesque lakes, charming local shops, and cozy restaurants just a short drive away.

Site 1, Bee Balm is shaded by nearby trees and is closest to the shower and toilet. If you are camping with a trailer we recommend the Bee Balm site as there is more space and better access.
The highlight of Site 2, Oak Grove, is a shady grove of young oaks that you can set your tent up under.

West of Taylors Falls. Dan bought this property with the intention of growing stone fruits (plums, peaches, apricots and

Many of the building on the property were in poor condition, including the old barn foundation which is now one of Dan and Danielle favorite places to keep cool in the summer. We loved staying on Candace’s land! Our kids and dogs felt right at home. It was upscale tent camping. We had a great outdoor fire for breakfast, dinner, and s’mores and a great indoor fire to keep us warm on the cool fall nights.
The beds were comfortable - especially when you’re used to a tent and a camping pad! And the house heated up so nicely. It was really nicely stocked - we normally bring tongs, spatula, etc. but there were some hung on the cabin which was a nice touch. It was really nice not to get service for a few days, enjoy the scenery, and bum around local towns. We’d absolutely stay again. ❤️

I loved camping in Dan's yurt campsite! The walk from the car is perfect, just long enough to feel like you are really out there camping! The views walking to the bathroom in the fall were just gorgeous! Speaking of the bathroom don't be scared off by the composting toilet. Dan provides plenty of woodchips/sawdust to cover everything up and there is no odor! The bbq grill and bonfire ring are great to have options. The picnic table seats plenty of people.
It rained a bit while we were there and everything in the tent stayed dry thanks to the extra plastic Dan has placed over the top of the yurt.
Dan is so kind and generous and feels like going over to a friend's house to camp. Can't wait to return next year!

Weekend Trip to Hoppensteadt Hills
Very last minute, I realized I needed to go camping: my stay in Site 1, Birch, was just what I was seeking for some nature nurturing. The site was private as promised (in fact I had whole campground to myself) and beautifully tucked in the woods. The yurt tent is well designed (side pockets, table in middle around center pole, also with pockets for stashing gear). Outhouse was a bit of a hike, though even the walk was pleasant, and so clean: the automatic light inside (and solar lights outside) was unexpected nice touch! I enjoyed the barred owl, sand hill cranes at night; great blue heron on one of our hikes on the property. I didn't think about it being duck hunting season, so the early morning and late evening distant gun sounds were scary for my dog, and the 2nd night fox barking was quite startling! But a good reminder we're in the woods! Maryam was helpful with answering questions during booking.

Dan is a wonderful host and owns some absolutely gorgeous land. I will be back! Be prepared for a small but beautiful hike out to your camp site. Bathrooms are as good as it gets, tents are huge and the bonus of not needing to setup is amazing, and the access to one of the most beautiful state parks is uncanny. If you have the legs for it I would absolutely recommend touring this area on bike. The descent into Taylor’s falls is one of the best in the state, the climb out of the city will have your legs woken up, and the nearby Swedish Immigrant Trail is beautiful especially in the Fall.

1 night at Hoppensteadt Hills
We had a nice stay at Maryam’s campsite. The tent was clean and the area was peaceful, which made for a relaxing night. We arrived after dark and quickly realized how dark it gets since there are no exterior lights provided—definitely recommend bringing plenty of lanterns or flashlights. The grass and surrounding area could use a bit of trimming as it was a little overgrown, and we did notice quite a few large spiders both on and inside the tent, so keep that in mind if you’re not a fan of bugs. The queen-sized air mattress we brought barely fit inside the tent, but it worked out okay. The host wasn’t super responsive, but we did appreciate being able to check out late, which was a nice touch. Overall, the experience was good and we gave it five stars.

I had a wonderful weekend at Mary Ann's property. I was in the Birch site which was very private, with lots of trees. There was a place to hang my hammock and the yurt was very comfortable. Have a beautiful trails to walk on, and I could hear lots of wildlife. Marianne was very warm and welcoming and can't think of one single complaint.

The owners were very friendly, and accommodating! They do reside on the property, but you wouldn’t know as they give you your privacy. They are friendly and were nice to chat with. There are trails that are mowed, which we walked. Veggies, sourdough, and jams for purchase. We will definitely return for another trip! Very nice spot, or and an area for games or just hanging out!
