All sites have access to the river and the beach. Great for biking, playing on the beach, swimming and exploring the surrounding area. Watch and listen for the magic of the fish jump and ducks swimming and more. Lots of wildlife reported. Visit the only working covered bridge in Washington State. Bring a kayak or floaties. Ride your bike on a beautiful country road. The water is very amazing and surrounded by woods. The sites are not directly on the river (except for the site " Cozy for 2" ) that is on the river . The river is still in front of all the sites. A few miles away is a little restaurant. Open only Thu - Sunday. It is 12 miles to nearest town in both directions for a store and gas. No potable water yet so please bring your own. A contained fire allowed. No electric at this time. Pet friendly. Pets must be on a leash for their safety. Life jackets are highly recommended for people who can't swim. There is a little country rd that is between you and the riverfront. The river is a stone throw away. The camp site "Cozy for 2" is the only campsite right on the river. Only 26 miles to Astoria Oregon and 34 miles to Long Beach Washington. There is a old farmhouse on the top of the hill that is not lived in. I store my tools in there that I use. If you think this may bother you please do not book. Please don't ask me to accommodate more people than I have implemented.. If you want more complete privacy please do not book. There will be other campers. Thank you

What to Know Before You Book
The cabin sleeps 3 adults comfortably and has basic amenities inside: bed and futon with bedding, chairs and table, games and a small library. The outdoor kitchen includes two picnic tables, a gas and charcoal grill with burner, basic cooking equipment, and dishes for 8. Propane and wood fire pits are included.
Camping at Hidden Pillar is a primitive, off-grid experience:
- No electricity; no running water
- Bring all water or purification system; pack out all trash
- Gravel roads are steep and rutted—high-clearance vehicle recommended for cabin and Creekside access
Hidden Pillar Retreat provides easy access to Southwest Washington Coast beaches, historic river towns (Skamokawa, Cathlamet, Astoria), Julia Butler Hansen Wildlife Refuge, and excellent boating/kayaking.

The camp site "Cozy for 2" is the only campsite right on the river. Only 26 miles to Astoria Oregon and 34 miles to Long Beach Washington. There is a old farmhouse on the top of the hill that is not lived in. I store my tools in there that I use. If you think this may bother you please do not book. Please don't ask me to accommodate more people than I have implemented.. If you want more complete privacy please do not book. There will be other campers. Thank you

- Creekside primitive camp on a bluff overlooking the river—secluded, wooded
- Riverside clearing with picnic table, fire pit and river views—most accessible site including access for some RV's
All sites include access to on-site trails, shared Columbia River shoreline access, and portable toilets.
What to Know Before You Book
The cabin sleeps 3 adults comfortably and has basic amenities inside: bed and futon with bedding, chairs and table, games and a small library. The outdoor kitchen includes two picnic tables, a gas and charcoal grill with burner, basic cooking equipment, and dishes for 8. Propane and wood fire pits are included.
Camping at Hidden Pillar is a primitive, off-grid experience:
- No electricity; no running water
- Bring all water or purification system; pack out all trash
- Gravel roads are steep and rutted—high-clearance vehicle recommended for cabin and Creekside access
Hidden Pillar Retreat provides easy access to Southwest Washington Coast beaches, historic river towns (Skamokawa, Cathlamet, Astoria), Julia Butler Hansen Wildlife Refuge, and excellent boating/kayaking.

Our family had such a great time on the river. Even though we got some rain everyday we put our paddle boards in the water from the dock and played. The river is super peaceful and you get to see and hear lots of birds. We lucked out and had the whole place to ourselves even. Really nice to have the provided Adirondack chairs for around the campfire and watching the river too. Hosts were always very quick to respond and helpful. Road and property clean, well maintained and so was the port-o-potty on site. We even visited their horses to say hello for change of scene one afternoon. Mostly though we relaxed in the camp area and enjoyed the river. Will return for sure.

We had a very enjoyable stay! 😊 our host, Nikki was great! Very easy to reach… This was my first time camping through Hip Camp. I was able to have a bit of a family reunion out there, close to family to come visit. Lot less stress for my 14-year-old sheltie, with no other campers around. Kayaking was beautiful! What a great relaxing weekend! The property was so clean and felt very private. My granddaughter had so much fun picking blackberries for her waffles. Yes, there was road and train noise but you tune it out after the first day. We actually made a game out of the trains... who could call it coming first and was it a passenger or freight train based on sound. Saw lots of wildlife including deer, eagles and very pretty ducks. The only downside was all the gnats for 2hrs at night. Next time bugs spray.

Our family had an absolute blast while camping here! Erik and Michelle are super organized, very responsive and overall just wonderful hosts!
The UK RANCH is close to town, yet gives off the peaceful and relaxing vibe being nestled right along the water with privacy between each site. We paddle boarded and fished too.
Firewood was available for purchase when we booked so the bundles were there waiting for us by the pit upon arrival.
Can’t forget to mention the cute mason jar of flowers Michelle left on our picnic table as a warm welcome!!

When you first pull into the ranch there is a huge barn with stalls for horses. We made some equine friends. The camps are down a rough road to the right- our little Mazda made it, but go slow. Each of the 5 lovely spots are directly next to the river. I love that they are spaced far enough apart that you feel like you have space. There is a privacy hedge between them all. I stayed at 5, but they all looked great. 3 and 4 were a bit smaller but still completely doable for a couple tents. 1 & 2 were rented out to a large family gathering and they were having a blast on the rope swing over there. Those spots are perfect for a group. There is a nice community spot in the middle with little kiddos life jackets and some paddles for the couple of community kayaks. I took a jaunt down the river one afternoon and saw some beautiful cranes. Fresh flowers on the table, and little stack of wood greeted us. It was really peaceful to watch the wildlife and listen to the frogs and owls at night. It felt safe and wholesome. Nobody ever came to check in on us, which was kind of nice, everybody just minding their own. It is a working family owned ranch and they were busy with bringing in the hay which we got to see. I wish I’d have gone on a horse ride, but maybe next time. I would definitely go again.

So glad Erik and Michelle have chosen to share this very special place. We reserved all 5 sites for a group camping trip with 10 families. It was perfect and they were super accommodating. I loved all of the little touches, like the flowers on the tables. Site 5 was the largest and where most of the families camped. We used 1 and 2 for our group kitchen and hangout area. Site 5 does have a rope descent to the river, but there was a tree down in the river right there and it wasn't the best access to the water. It's just a few steps to the community site and dock for the best access.

The hosts are super responsive and helpful. The river is gorgeous and great for swimming, kayaking, SUPing or just lazing in a tube. There is very little current.

Such a wonderful spot and the hosts were super accommodating and friendly. We rented all 5 sites for a group trip with 10 families. It was perfect. The kids loved the rope swing and the river was perfect for floating and cooling off. It's was over 100 degrees the weekend we were there and there was plenty of shade to keep cool - having the river right there was a big help too.

This property is meticulously maintained! The camp sites are pristinely curated, with great level land, vegetation for separation of sites, and the trail down to the river is well maintained. The river was great for hanging out and cooling off, as well as finding rocks. Each camp site had a fire ring and bucket of water available to dump on the fire when done. Road noise down at sites 5, 6 and 7 is minimal. Very peaceful!

Lovely camping trip here as always! Funny enough site 2 I had cell signal, whereas I don’t when I camp at site 3. Yes this site is closer to the road but it didn’t impact our stay, we slept through the night and had a great time. perfect spot to put up the tent away from the fire pit too.
