Tucked Away Retreat evolved from empty acreage to an easy retreat from the city and an opportunity to share our love of the rural life. Located in the Chapman area of Scappoose, this area is rich in logging history; the Crown Zellerbach trail is an old logging road and now an 18 mile hiking/biking "story board" of the life and culture of both the Native American Indians that lived in the area and the evolution of logging. Just over the peak of the CZ trail (which is approximately 3 miles from our property) is an old mine, just one example of many hidden areas to explore. Located on 4 private acres, watch the deer wander through the property or the hawks float overhead. Bring your bikes and hit the Crown Zellerbach trail, or hike it instead. We are located approximately 0.8 mile from the trail. Visit Sauvie's Island, the largest inland island in the United States.
Paddle or kayak on Scappoose Bay, head up to the Trojan frisbee-golf course, or just relax on the lawn. We are also an easy drive from Vernonia, the Nehalem River and Big Eddy Park.
We offer two sites; Site A is on flat gravel that enjoys full sun. Site A is across from the large grassy area, perfect for sunning and relaxing.
Site B is on gravel on the upper drive and is shaded most of the day. Site B is best suited for camper vans, truck campers or small trailers due to trees along the back curve of the driveway. Large trailers/RV's and motorhomes will fit in Site B but you may need to back in.
Site B is backed by our private, small shop. The two sites are separated by trees. Both sites have 120v, 30amp and water hookups.
The property can accommodate one or two additional RV's in spots adjacent to both sites for multiple vehicle groups; contact us for more information if you are a larger group. Additional vehicles are an extra charge.
Please be aware that we are RV only, we have no outhouse, so we cannot accommodate tents or folks who want to sleep in their vehicle. We will consider an exception if you have a RV/trailer and kids who want to sleep in a tent. Please reach out to us prior to booking for this exception.
We do not allow "shower" tents.
Also please note that there is no cell service once you leave Highway 30; you have to have WiFi calling capabilities to use your cell phone.

Tucked Away Retreat evolved from empty acreage to an easy retreat from the city and an opportunity to share our love of the rural life. Located in the Chapman area of Scappoose, this area is rich in logging history; the Crown Zellerbach trail is an old logging road and now an 18 mile hiking/biking "story board" of the life and culture of both the Native American Indians that lived in the area and the evolution of logging. Just over the peak of the CZ trail (which is approximately 3 miles from our property) is an old mine, just one example of many hidden areas to explore. Our retreat is just 45 minutes from Portland, yet feels a world away. You can relax in the quiet or explore the trail, the small towns that dot Highway 30 or head to the river. If you continue West on Highway 30, you will pass through many small logging towns, the old Trojan Nuclear site and eventually land in Astoria on the coast.

Tucked Away Retreat is quiet and peaceful yet 45 minutes from Portland.
Located on 4 private acres, watch the deer wander through the property or the hawks float overhead. Bring your bikes and hit the Crown Zellerbach trail, or hike it instead. We are located approximately 0.8 mile from the trail. Visit Sauvie's Island, the largest inland island in the United States.
Paddle or kayak on Scappoose Bay, head up to the Trojan frisbee-golf course, or just relax on the lawn. We are also an easy drive from Vernonia, the Nehalem River and Big Eddy Park.
We offer two sites; Site A is on flat gravel that enjoys full sun. Site A is across from the large grassy area, perfect for sunning and relaxing.
Site B is on gravel on the upper drive and is shaded most of the day. Site B is best suited for camper vans, truck campers or small trailers due to trees along the back curve of the driveway. Large trailers/RV's and motorhomes will fit in Site B but you may need to back in.
Site B is backed by our private, small shop. The two sites are separated by trees. Both sites have 120v, 30amp and water hookups.
The property can accommodate one or two additional RV's in spots adjacent to both sites for multiple vehicle groups; contact us for more information if you are a larger group. Additional vehicles are an extra charge.
Please be aware that we are RV only, we have no outhouse, so we cannot accommodate tents or folks who want to sleep in their vehicle. We will consider an exception if you have a RV/trailer and kids who want to sleep in a tent. Please reach out to us prior to booking for this exception.
We do not allow "shower" tents.
Also please note that there is no cell service once you leave Highway 30; you have to have WiFi calling capabilities to use your cell phone.
These sites are on our private property. For Site A, you may position your RV to view the grassy area and not the house.

The cabin was peaceful and private, and we felt truly secluded and unplugged from the digital world. Our reasons for going or to get isolated from technology and the Internet and this cabin was the perfect place to do that. Brian was a warm welcoming host and their book of recommendations for nearby hikes and food were top-notch. Gnat Creek was a beautiful hike.

The yurt was a perfect way to winter camp and stay semi-warm in the process. The sauna was restorative and the showers had somewhat warm water (better than freezing!) Lots of woods/trails to explore. Saw some elk roaming on our last mornigng there. Will definitely be coming back when its warmer!

Check-in and out was a breeze. Communication with the host was very quick. This was a great getaway as we were so close to downtown Bevearton but the barn was secluded enough that my party and I felt like we were off the beaten path and could disconnect from the world. The little A-frame structure was perfect for my needs and stood up well to some pretty blustery weather on my first day. It takes a minute to locate the structure if you arrive in the dark and rain, as I did, but once I was oriented, all was well. Definitely recommend this instead of a tent if you're coming at a time of year when the weather is a bit unpredictable.
