About the site:
This 17-foot 2005 Jay Feather Ultra Lite trailer is clean and cozy - perfect for one or two people. A third person is welcome, but it will likely be a little cramped. The double bed has a memory foam mattress and is made-up with quality sheets. Towels are provided at no extra cost.
The kitchen has a 3 burner propane stove and oven, a small fridge, a microwave, and sink. Coffee, tea, tea kettle, French Press, creamer, and sugar are provided, as well as a few dishes, a pot and pan, and utensils.
The spring water is sourced directly from our property and filtered, so you can enjoy it from the tap! In my opinion, it's some of the best water around - feel free to fill up before you depart.
The site is set back from WA-State Route 106, but only by about 20 yards. There is traffic noise during the day, but it's not too bad, and it is typically pretty quiet at night. Hopefully you enjoy the sounds of wildlife ~ birds, lapping waves, and even a creek add to the experience.
A panoramic view of the estuary is one of the best parts of this property. It's dreamy, really. With the tide changing every 6 hours, you just can't get bored. You may fall asleep to tide flats and wake up to what feels like a lake.
If you like being on or in the water - bring some kayaks, surf or paddle boards, and some high quality water shoes (never go barefoot!). You will have access to 400 feet of private beach and tide flats. Kayaking is tide dependent - recommendations for paddle times will be in the binder.
(Currently closed to harvesting 6/23) If you have your shellfish license, feel free to harvest a few oysters or clams (depending on DOH recommendations) . Be aware - it is a rustic beach, and it is across the highway, so watch for traffic and watch your step on the beach.
Our house is within sight of the trailer, but you have to make an effort to see it. From our house, we can only see the parking spot, and due to shrubbery & a shed, we can't hear talking voices, so it is pretty private. We do have 2 very friendly, small dogs who will undoubtedly alert us to your arrival, but they stay on our deck and quiet down right away.
A welcome binder and maps will help you get an idea of the area. For a tiny town, Union has a LOT to offer - there are several dining choices within a few miles. Union was even listed in the top 10 "Prettiest Towns in America" in Forbes Magazine in 2009!

We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey.
The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups!
Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi.
About the campground:
The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins.
There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊
The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. A cozy heater keeps the tiny house warm on cool days, but there is no air conditioning. The shady woods stay nice and cool, and there are lots of screened windows to let in the breeze. The sleeping loft also has two screened windows and a fan if the nights are warm.
The kitchen has a gas 2 burner stove, a mini fridge, toaster oven, hot water kettle, french press coffee maker, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, and other basics.
The bed has 100% cotton sheets, pillow cases, and blanket. As well as a comfy coverlet. A feather alternative duvet is available for colder nights.
There is only one bed and it is not recommended for small children to sleep in the loft as there is no safety rail or gate up there. If a child is present it is recommended (almost required) that they sleep on the couch in the lower living space.

Welcome to Olympic Wanderer Cabin! This fairy-tale nature retreat creekside cabin will wow you with its stellar location, lush grounds, hot-tub, and stylish interior. The cabin is nestled in a forested community next the hood canal, famous for its rich waters and shellfish harvesting. This is the perfect base for your adventures on the Olympic Peninsula, and is a great central location close to endless amazing hiking trails, including Olympic NP and multiple state parks less than 10 minutes away.
The highlight of the cabin is the log bridge across the creek! You will feel like you are on an amazing hiking trail or in a fairytale on the rainforest-like grounds with a babbling brook or rushing creek running through it depending on how much rain we have had. Our property is directly across the street from access to the national forest service roads with miles of roads and trails. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING: The cabin is older and rustic, and we are renovating it over time. There is a very steep/narrow staircase that excesses the second floor, and the twin bed artea is part of the lofty and is not an enclosed bedroom. The living space and kitchen are open concept, and there is seating for 4 at the dining room table and 2 countertop barstools as well. The adorable farmhouse style kitchen has everything you need to cook meals during your stay, including all cooking essentials and basic spices. We also have pancake mix and quick oats for our guests in case you forgot to bring your own breakfast. If you are lucky enough to stay in late summer, you can walk across the street to pick wild blackberries. The living room has a large TV and a nice selection of DVDs to choose from. We also have Starlink for both internet and streaming services. Cell service can be hit or miss depending on provider. The bathroom is on the lower level, as well as the first bedroom which has a queen bed. The 2nd bedroom opens up with a barn door and also has a queen bed as well as beautiful views of the creek and trees. For this reason it is my favorite bedroom! At the bottom of the stairs is the mud room which is a an enclosed patio and is a great place to store recreational equipment or wet/muddy items. It also allows excess to one of the decks which features outdoor seating and a bbq.

Offering a lovely, personal campsite area surrounded by beautiful trees nestled at back of a ranch with horses (and chickens) on the outskirts of the small, charming town of Yelm. (In some of the pictures you will see horses in camp area, but are not turned out when campers are there.) There is 20 amp elec. (which can safely power a 30 amp rv unless you run too many things at once) and water/hose. There is a porta-potty and a shower shed with a tankless water heater for your convenience.
We also offer a small bunk room in the barn. Heated and cooled (fan) with a small "kitchen" area, it has a pull out futon which sleeps 2 and requires you supply your own bedding and towels.
Our Internet connection out here in the country sometimes has outages which we cannot control. IF having reliable internet access is important to you, we may not be your best choice.
1 Hour to Mt. Rainier Nat. Park. 1 1/2 hours to Olympia Nat. Park. 2 1/2 hours to Mt. St. Helens. 1 hour to Seattle. Close to Puget Sound and loads of nature spots. Local hiking and fishing aplenty. Our property is surrounded by nature, yet only a 5 minute drive into town where you will find charming shops, restaurants, cafes and coffee houses, a fabulous movie theater and only 15 minutes to Red Wind Casino.
There is a railroad track next to the property, only used on Tues. and Thurs. between 10 am and 1 pm. Rarely, it may have an additional passing but it has never run after dark or early morning.
(We are close enough to roads that you may hear some traffic. They are county roads and not highly traveled for the most part.)
**Trigger Warnings: We are near JBLM military base so you may occasionally hear military doings.
Country neighbors occasionally do target practice, so you may hear some shooting.

Large yurt (24ft diameter) great for family glamping (no tent required), personal retreat or group event nestled in the forest on a 22 acre farm. Yurt has one queen bed (with quality linens), one single bed (with linens) two Japanese floor mats, a composting toilet, battery pack to charge phones or use simple appliances, drinking water and a hand washing station. We loved the beautiful layout space and ended up sleeping really well. The hammock was such a sweet touch to check out the starts at night. There was an issue with the toilet so we were offered a discount to use the woods instead. All in all, it was a great stay and Virginia was fast with communication!

This place is pure magic. We started our summer with a trip and my kid begged to go back for our last trip of the summer. Gary thinks of everything. You really can just bring food and a sleeping bag and you will want for nothing. It is peaceful and whimsical. Gary is friendly and respectful of your space and by the end you can’t help but feel like family. Thank you Gary for making a place my kids feel safe, free and curious!

Weekend Trip to Fischer's Place on the Estuary
My stay was perfect and just what I needed. The camper was clean, well-equipped, comfy and cosy. The views were amazing, complete with seals, birds galore, and an amazing sunset. I especially enjoyed taking my coffee down to the water in the morning and just taking this paradise in. I put my kayak in down the street in Union and enjoyed a lovely paddle to the estuary and back. Camas was so kind to leave a tide schedule for me!
I'm a light sleeper and have pretty strong noise aversion (misophonia) and the car noise wasn't a big deal for me. It gets a lot lighter at night, but I wear sleep headphones, regardless. It will start up again pretty early in the morning, but it won't stop me from staying here again.
The extras waiting for me (flowers, berries, small snacks) made me feel extra welcome, too! Camas was extremely attentive through app messaging, so nice, and completely respected my privacy.
This area just has everything and I recommend it all, including the 30 minute drive to Hama Hama Oyster Farm & Saloon.
I would (and very likely will) stay with Camas and family again in a heartbeat!

Weekend Trip to Elfendahl Forest
This place is magical—an off-the-grid wonderland filled with creativity, imagination, and so much attention to detail. The owner has clearly poured a tremendous amount of thought and personality into every corner of the property, and it makes the whole place feel incredibly special.
The communal spaces are welcoming, playful, and fun for all ages. There’s a large, well-stocked kitchen, beautifully designed and spotless facilities (Louis 1 & 2 and the shower), and gorgeous mosaic work and craftsman-style woodwork throughout the property.
And then there are all the fun little surprises: ax throwing, hammocks, a climbing net, a garden, punk bunnies, chickens, flowers, statuary gardens, gnomes, and so many other whimsical details to discover. There’s something around every corner.
The hosts have thought of just about everything you could possibly need. And while the camp is wonderfully off the beaten track, there’s plenty to explore—and even more space to simply relax and enjoy being there. Honestly, we found ourselves not wanting to leave!
If you do venture out, Belfair State Park is only about 15 minutes away and is a great place to explore, picnic, and swim. The warm saltwater and sandy beach made for a perfect outing.
Overall, this was such a fun, imaginative, and surprisingly relaxing stay. The campsite and host were absolutely incredible, and the care and creativity that went into creating this little wonderland really made the experience unforgettable.

We had a wonderful stay at Jake and Molly’s Stargazer tent. It was clean, comfortable, and we loved falling asleep while looking at the sky. They thought of everything, with a charging station, power banks, showers, a great hand washing station. Their property is stunning, right by the water. We were just staying the night but could have easily stayed longer if we weren’t rushing to get home.

This site was perfect for our whole family. Our kids are 7 and 4 years old and were able to manage the stairs up to the bathroom, loved the bunk room and all the pirate fun, and really enjoyed the lake. Our dog enjoyed the freedom the leash pulley system through the property allowed him. And my husband and I got the right amount of rest, peace, and play. We weren’t quite ready for a full camping trip and this cabin had enough indoor amenities to make the experience painless (comfy beds, clean and functional indoor kitchen, and tv for wind down time) and enough campsite amenities (picnic table, lake recreation equipment, outdoor shower) to make it feel like we were experiencing the best of the outdoors without the sometimes frustrating challenges of camping with young kids.
Kevin has also incorporated a really fun pirate theme into the cove and it made the whole stay even more memorable. Our kids have already made us promise to come back next summer and we look forward to it!

Such a beautiful setting to cook, hang out, and sleep in with my pups. The entrance and the short walk to the yurt was very easy to find and follow. I had forgotten a book but the puzzles and games provided was a lot of fun. The place was clean and the grill and provided paper plates and utensils made it very easy to make my own meals.

Was a beautiful spot to stay for a few days. The stargazer tent was comfortable and warm and the bed was very cozy. Only downside is a lack of privacy at the sites . We got lucky tho with only 1 other camper. Trees are planted so that will be good in the future. The deck site for a trailer was nicely laid out. Would choose that option for next time. Our dogs loved having so much space to roam.

We had a wonderful time in the Dream Dome. The dome itself had a very comfortable bed with nice bedding. Everything was designed intentionally, very comfortable and private space. The shared kitchen was also very nice, loved the record player and collection. Outdoor shower was also excellent. The waterfront is absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful. I borrowed the provided a kayak and travelled all around, so beautiful. The inslet is filled with oysters and I saw several seal. In mid August the water was perfect for swimming. Really a magical place, thank you for letting us stay. We went on day trips to Olympic National Park and Olympia, both extremely convenient to here.

This place was magic. So unbelievably quiet (I actually turned off the lock feedback noise on my car because I felt like I was disturbing the peace). The outdoor shower was dreamy, the studio space itself was clean and cozy. I followed the host’s recommendations for a hike a short drive away that took me down to the water, which was lovely. Thank you for such a fun experience! The best part was all of the water toys we were able to use! Such a quiet and peaceful location. It’s our first time using hip camp and hopefully a bathroom is installed so we can return! That was the only issue the porter potty location. Other than that we enjoyed every bit of the cabin we even brought our projector so we had a movie night outside under the stars cabin is fully stocked Kevin literally thought of everything!

We loved camping on Gary's property. Our 2 year old enjoyed the play ground, net, playing with the dogs and bunnies, and running around. This was a perfect spot for a family of 4 (2 adults, newborn and toddler). The kitchen was well stocked with supplies, clean bathroom, and shower had heated water. We plan to come back again this summer and highly recommend it to other families.

Weekend Trip to Neighborwood: An Eco Retreat
We really enjoyed our stay. It was so quiet and relaxing at night. We cooked some great meals on the gas burning stove. Explored the state park near by and went paddle boarding. Tyler was attentive to any issues we had which was only needing help with the water. Definitely recommend.
