The yurt doesn't have heat, water, or electricity. It's like a big tent. The host's home is nearby (only about 60' away) so this is not a remote location. The property is approx. 3 miles South of downtown Vashon and 2 miles North of Burton. Up to 2 dogs are allowed. But they cannot be left alone at any time in the yurt. Please keep them on leash outside.

This cozy cottage is equipped with a queen size bed in a lovely sleeping loft, a small but useful kitchen, a large trex deck with patio furniture, a comfy couch and small dining table. The separate, but luxurious, bath house has a full sized shower, sink, and fully plumbed flushing toilet. There is even a small stacked washer and dryer available. Laundry soap available for purchase. Name brand (no dollar store stuff here) shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. A cozy heater keeps the tiny house warm on cool days, but there is no air conditioning. The shady woods stay nice and cool, and there are lots of screened windows to let in the breeze. The sleeping loft also has two screened windows and a fan if the nights are warm. The kitchen has a gas 2 burner stove, a mini fridge, toaster oven, hot water kettle, french press coffee maker, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, and other basics. The bed has 100% cotton sheets, pillow cases, and blanket. As well as a comfy coverlet. A feather alternative duvet is available for colder nights. There is only one bed and it is not recommended for small children to sleep in the loft as there is no safety rail or gate up there. If a child is present it is recommended (almost required) that they sleep on the couch in the lower living space.

One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. There is a tree farm across the street from the campsite and a blueberry farm across Veazie. Picking time for blueberries is end of July into August. Deep lake is four miles from our house as well as Kanaskit State Park with a river. Mt Rainier is about 45 minutes away. Mt Peak, 1000 ft hike, is 4 miles toward Enumclaw from us. You have room to spread out your awning without hitting the next vehicle. Each site has its own picnic table and fire ring. Also if you are in the mood you have a covered kitchen to meet and mingle with other guests. We also have a big screen tv in the kitchen so you don't miss the Seahawks games. Drive in and enjoy a lovely view of unspoiled woods from the deck of your canvas tent. Enter the door into a spacious area with a king or queen size bed and small kitchen area. Each tent has its own heat source for your comfort. Each tent has its table right outside on the deck but it you are feeling social come enjoy our outdoor kitchen. We are open year round and It is different every season Our guests love staying here "This site has absolutely everything you need. You'll want to bring your own shampoo and conditioner, but I think that was the only things I noticed I'd want. They even had firewood for us, no extra charge! David, his wife, and everyone else that helps maintain the property were SO sweet and welcoming. Seems like it would be a lovely place to stay in the winter, so thats when I'd like to come back! 5 stars all the way for everything here, the thoughtfulness of the cabins, the cleanliness, the readily available kitchen and the hospitality. We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey. The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups! Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi. About the campground: The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins. There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊 The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

Forest bathing and a wonderful vintage tiny home on the forest. Cooked great food in the lovely oven and range. Tyler daily lipsticks the honey bucket with daily cleaning including flowers and essential oil. Beautiful large leaf maple forest and a host that welcomes you to the experience.

1 night at Secluded Forest Yurt

This site was easy to get to using the ferry, and was only about 15 minutes away from the terminal. The yurt was tucked into the woods, a few minutes walk from the main house, and felt totally secluded once we were there. Everything was clean, pleasant, and comfortable. Tea and coffee were well stocked, and the candles made the off grid site super romantic. Depending on your cellular provider, you might not have service while there. The toilet was a little finicky, but there’s a clean outhouse behind the yurt and Virginia was super responsive. I plan to come back again!

We loved the beautiful layout space and ended up sleeping really well. The hammock was such a sweet touch to check out the starts at night. There was an issue with the toilet so we were offered a discount to use the woods instead. All in all, it was a great stay and Virginia was fast with communication!

Weekend Trip to Hidden Meadow Retreat

We just enjoyed a long weekend here with friends. Lots of room for the kids and dogs to play and easy trails. Bathrooms and sink area were clean, lots of lawn games, hot tub close to the sites. It was removed enough from the city to feel like camping but still very convenient. Short drive to several fun beaches There are a few sites and they are close to each other but everyone was very friendly. Host was very responsive when we had questions

This forest retreat was adorable! Cedar River has everything you need to have a good time from string lights to the trail nearby. Site felt secluded with plenty of us to set up tents alongside the cabin. We especially loved the bonus experience of live music and food up at the main house for the Forest Session with Kurt Lindsay. Definitely worth it.

Cedar River Cabin was just what we needed to ring in the last weekend of summer! The hosts are amazing and were very patient with my pregnancy brain messing up the code to get into the cabin 😂. The land is beautiful and they have everything you could need! I packed way too much! Brittany really takes care of her guests. My dogs loved the property too! There was no shortage of sniffing for them! We can’t wait to come back as a family of 4!

1 night at Hidden Meadow Retreat

We had a wonderful stay at Jake and Molly’s Stargazer tent. It was clean, comfortable, and we loved falling asleep while looking at the sky. They thought of everything, with a charging station, power banks, showers, a great hand washing station. Their property is stunning, right by the water. We were just staying the night but could have easily stayed longer if we weren’t rushing to get home.

Great black berry picking in the late summer. Can access by local bus (about a mile walk from last stop). Campground on one side of the road, water access and recreation area on the other. Can get loud with jets flying overhead to the airport.

Easy to snag a site on a weekday in the summer without a reservation but not over the weekend. After hours you can still get a first-come first-served site site without a problem.
