We had such a great time staying at this pirate-themed cabin for two nights! We came to celebrate my daughter’s 13th birthday, and the host made it extra special by leaving her a birthday shirt. There was also a welcome box with everything we needed for s’mores, which was such a thoughtful touch.
The lake was definitely a highlight. Having our own private pier and access to kayaks, boats, and floaties kept the whole family entertained for hours. Even when it rained, we had plenty to do with all the games and movies inside the cabin.
The only thing I wish had been different was having an indoor bathroom. The portable restroom worked fine, but it’s at the top of the driveway, which could be tricky with kids. It definitely wouldn’t keep us from coming back, though!
Overall, it was an amazing stay, and you can tell the host has put so much thought into making this a fun experience. We made some wonderful family memories and would absolutely stay here again!
Our family had an amazing weekend at the Plank and Pillow at Pirate Cove. Before our weekend began Kevin was a gracious host, answering all of our pre-trip questions and giving us all the helpful information to make our trip great!
The location was perfect, felt like we had the cove to ourselves and the views were spectacular. We have a couple of teenagers and a one year old in our family and there was plenty of fun to be had by all! The teenagers were out on the water the whole trip except to eat or sleep. They loved all of the water crafts and really enjoyed learning to kayak and paddle board! We brought some fishing gear and had some luck fishing off the dock and even took the row boat out for some fishing too!
The cabin itself provided everything we needed and it seems Kevin had thought of everything! The sleeping arrangements worked perfect for us, one of the teenagers had the bunk room, one stayed upstairs on the pull out bed and the captain’s quarters had a comfortable bed with enough room to put a pack n play for the baby!
The portapotty may remind you that you are camping, but a nice warm shower after a swim in the lake in a the outdoor shower gives you some relaxing resort vibes!
We had a fantastic stay and hope to that the winds have us sailing back in for another stay in the future!

Argh!! Absolutely loved staying at The Plank and Pillow! Fabulously themed pirate cabin right on the lake with all the water crafts needed to enjoy the surrounding area. The lake is huge with lots of fingers but quiet due to motor boats being limited to 5mph. The hubby caught 2 big fish off the pedal boat, the kayaks were used till we could paddle no more, and my 17 year old loves herself a paddleboard! Roasted hotdogs and s’mores at the fire pit. The evening lighting that kicked in on its own was very cool! My crew has stayed at many a lakeside cabin and this is our new favorite spot. We had such a good time, even with cloudy weather and using a portapotty. Exceptional location, exceptional hosts! We highly recommend and will definitely drop anchor again in the future

This was a beautiful and peaceful spot to get away. Kevin seemed to have the cabin stocked with just about anything one could need. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again, if I'm ever back on the other coast.

This spot truly is a treasure. Warm lake, private little inlet with lots of options no matter the age. My kids loved the pirate theme and had a few treasure hunts; my teenage daughter stayed on the paddleboard. The kids were up early to fish and went to bed wiped out every night. It is hard to entertain the entire family, but this place has pretty much taken the pressure off and provided a special experience for everyone to enjoy the time spent here!

Kevin was an amazing host. He was quick with responses anytime we needed to contact him. He's thought of everything you might need and more! We had an amazing time enjoying the lake and water amenities. We had no luck fishing, but theres plenty of fish jumping and we will try again the next time we stay! We went in mid-September, so a bit off season and it felt very private and cozy.

I had amazing time spending a couple of days here. It was peaceful and quiet at the cabin. The cabin really showed off it's pirate theme I adore it so much and the welcoming basket was great. Kevin made sure your stay was comfortable by having supplies for any activities for the lake and had enough supplies for bedding too. I am gonna come back here again in the future 😄
Kevin was a great host and answered all of my inquiries quickly and politely! We really enjoyed our time at the cabin - the kayaks were in great shape, the lake was gorgeous, and the master bed was very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Right on the lake, such a beautifull lake. Kevin thought of almost everything you could need and had it available at the cabin. Along with extra treats and surprises! He was very helpful with info and answered all my questions. I highly recommend a stay here.
I live in San Diego but I used to call this area home. I was looking for something that reminded me of all the things I love about the Pacific Northwest. This cabin surpassed all of my expectations.
I arrived to find a welcoming basket that took me by surprise. I’ll let you discover what was in it when you book your stay. The hosts had thought of everything I might need and more from a fully stocked kitchen, firewood for the wood stove inside or the fire pit outside, and plenty of coffee!
I stayed in the main room downstairs and it appeared brand new and thoughtfully designed to keep the charm. I did peak into the bunk room and found the pirate themed room adorable. I know my niece and nephew would have loved it.
I found myself forgetting how close I was to a city. I was surrounded by trees on all sides except where the lake opens up to you. My first morning, I went out to the dock just as an eagle dove into the water and caught a fish. That same day a family of four otters swam right past me and just minutes later I turned around to find two deer in the yard. I was traveling with my dog Baxter and was glad the hosts had put in a dog run so he could sit outside with me without me having to worry he would go chasing every furry critter that poked its head out. This was the PNW I remembered and loved!
I enjoyed this place so much, I was excited when the hosts told me I could extend my stay for two more nights. Thank you Kevin & Chris for opening your home for me to enjoy

Kevin's cabin was a-mazingg. Literally everything you need at your fingertips from cookware, to a grill, to a fire-pit, to kayaks and paddle-boards – the space was just great.
outdoor shower was a first for me and was awesome. porta potty within 20-30 feet from shower or so.
overall, just an awesome place to stay at.
Great experience. Host has created a very fun atmosphere, including pirate-themed decorations throughout including flags, pirate hats we all wore, kid friendly swords, and a pirate skeleton with cannon. Host put out kayaks, paddle board, paddle boat, row boat, and kid-bags of smores. The pictures do not do the site justice; fire pit area is large with picnic tables, seating, dog run; main room has a good kitchen with useful items, master bedroom is new and very nice with sliding glass doors to lake. Swimming and fishing was fantastic. Nice landscaping and rock work and the lighting at night is exceptional making it very special. Host was a great communicator. Port a potty isn’t far. We hope to return again
I would highly recommend Plank and Pillow on beautiful Lake St. Claire. Myself, my wife and granddaughter spent an amazing weekend there recently and we all wished we had booked it for longer.
The cabin is full of charm, from the rustic vibe to the upgraded master bedroom. The hosts (Kevin and Chris) are super easy to deal with and very accommodating.
There is so much to explore in the area and the lake itself is so unique with all of it's coves and different fingers. Lots of great fishing as well. Kayaks, paddleboard and paddle boat provided.
Lastly, the city of Oylmpia is a short drive away with world-class restaurants and great parks. You can even tour the Washington State Capitol if you so desire.
Once again, I recommend you book this property, you won't be disappointed!

Cabin on the lake
We loved the rustic cabin. Took our 14 year old granddaughter with us. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook our meals. There is a under the counter The BBQ worked great.
