Weekend Trip to Neighborwood: An Eco Retreat

This is the first time I have stayed at a place like this, or even been on Harstine Island, but wow it was such a fantastic experience. From the first drive down the driveway, I could tell we were in for a blissful night under the trees. I live in the city, so it's hard to get away from the lights and bustle of the town... The trailer was so sweet and tasteful. Clearly the host had put a ton of work into it. Coffee on the stove: check, small trails to walk around: check. The absolute best part- the outdoor shower. Cute mirrors, hot water, ferns, trees... worth it for the admission alone. I will dream about the shower for years to come... I'll be back on Harstine, that's for sure.

2 nights at Neighborwood

We had a great time staying at Tyler’s little camper. He put so much thought into everything, even fresh cut flowers. The camper is situated just above a ravine, and we enjoyed just sitting enjoying the view and listening to the birds. Tyler had a small fire pit and firewood available in the seating area. The outdoor shower was divine although a little cold getting out. The toilet is a porta-potty, which was fine because we were the only ones using it. The kitchenette was well stocked, with three burners, a small oven, sink, basic utensils, dishes, spices, tea, pot, and pan. The camper is pretty remote, and Tyler is a very thoughtful, respectful host who was always available but kept his distance. A lovely place to unplug and just be in nature!

Weekend Trip to Carbon Canyon Ranch

We had such an amazing stay here. The area is beautiful and the RV was in excellent condition. The camper was equipped with pretty much everything you could think of to be comfortable and the hosts went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The property is beautiful, and a short drive to town, rivers, lakes and hiking trails. Even the drive from the main road to the driveway was stunning, we passed deer each time we passed, and saw bald eagle in a branch that was only a few feet away. I can't recommend this site enough, it was the perfect weekend getaway, my only complaint is that we didn't stay an extra few nights.

2 nights at Alder Grove Retreat

Great location with good kayaking on Alder lake extremely close by and great hiking in Mt.Rainier National Park not too far away. The cabin was very cozy and private with a great mix of creature comforts(hot shower, electricity) while keeping nature front and center without distractions like TVs. I'll definitely keep it in mind for future trips to this area.

The stargazer tent was the perfect getaway. Outfitted with all the necessities and super comfortable mattresses. We popped down the skylight windows and literally slept under the stars. Other highlights: -Tons of wonderful signs to answer any question you may have. -the hiking trails were the big family hit, searching out the fairy houses kept us busy for hours. -lovely hottub out surrounded by nature. -booknook rocking chair in a peaceful little corner on the campgrounds -other camp sites were far enough away to not be disruptive yet share a friendly wave. -hosts were exceptional. Friendly, wonderful commutators and have created the perfect little oasis in Olympia,WA We will be back!

This little gem property is a one of a kind. Gary has thought of everything and is an amazing host. We learned so much about being off grid and still living very comfortable. It was cute and whimsical, and there were a few fabulous dogs keeping us company. This wonderful place is not for someone who needs city life - we would definitely come again. Thanks for the hospitality.

1 night at Hidden Meadow Retreat

We enjoyed our time on Jake and Molly's property. We were even one of the first to use their brand new yurt. Bring your own bedding. The shower is handy and the outdoor sink basin is so darn cute! Great firewood available on site. Jake and Molly and their kids greeted us. Of course their pets came a calling too. Friendly and sweet, Jake and Molly were responsive to our needs. Directions were very clear for our arrival Have fun when you visit.

What a perfect location close to the mountain, river, beach and falls. It has everything you need. We are so thankful Amy shared it with us. We spent a lot of time on the big deck and at the firepit.

Weekend Trip to Wildfern Grove

We loved staying in the yurt and enjoying the hot tub and beautiful area. It was my partners first yurt camping experience and it was amazing. We got to have our dogs with us and Really enjoyed meeting the residents and stewards of the land! It’s not exactly remote but we really enjoyed our time and would highly recommend it to folks looking for a relaxing place with hot tub. It’s honestly hard to find spots like this. We will be back… maybe with our whole family next time.

Weekend Trip to Pipe Lake Cabin

We spent memorial day weekend at the cabin and the lake was busy! It was less private then we wanted but we still had an enjoyable time. The deck has a great view of the lake and we ate meals there. The dock was great to hang out on but very close to neighbors. We appreciated the amount of windows but would have loved more curtains/blinds considering how close the neighboring bnbs walkway was to the cabin. Bed was comfortable, kitchen had what we needed, and lots of board games and puzzles. The cabin was perfectly sized for 2 adults and doggo. Would stay again!

My family of four (plus dog) slept comfortably in the cabin, which was really more comfortable that we expected. The fire pit was great, and the clearing around the cabin felt very private. We would go again.

Everything was better than we could have imagined. Space was beautiful, location was easy to get to, and convenient to Olalla market, the park, beds were comfy. Super nice outdoor hot water shower, games for entertaining and a great fire pit (bring wood). Jodi and Aaron were fabulous hosts and we left with a vehicle full of beautiful flowers. Also, the doggies Norman and Bruce brought us much joy when we got a chance to visit them. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet night away.

2 nights at The Village at Rainier

This little cabin was adorable! It was exactly what my friends and I needed for our trip- a warm place to rest after a long day in the National Park. The hot tub was a dream after a long day of hiking! It’s also close to a couple good restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream.

We loved this cabin! The views were incredible and we were so cozy and comfy. Dawson and Gabrielle were very welcoming and kind. They have such a great set up in the cabin and I will definitely be looking to book this cabin again on my next trip to Washington :)

We love camping, hiking and any opportunity to be outside with our two children! In 2020 (one week before the whole world shut down from Covid) we found the hidden gem we had been searching for! A perfect place to raise our family, space to play and explore nature, super private and close to town! It seemed too good to be true and still does! After settling in and realizing what amazing natural beauty we had, we got to work developing our garden, orchards, trails, fire pits and….Campsites! After building a camp site for our family, we decided that we wanted to share this amazing space with other families to enjoy! We built Hidden Meadow to be the campsite that we have always searched for on our family adventures, surrounded by nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the world, with trails for hiking and a HOT TUB to relax in, in the evening! We hope that you enjoy it! About the property: We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey. The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups! Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi. About the campground: The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the bathroom which has a shower and a toilet. The toilet is a porta-potty and the shower is propane headed. There is also a supply closet at the bathroom that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hottub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins as well as a sink for washing hands (please water only down the sink). We have provided soap that is biodegradable for the sink and shower to help reduce our impact on this beautiful environment. There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There is also several fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊 The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offers great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails! Dogs: We do have two dogs on the property (Wilma and Bean) who are very friendly and we will keep them out of camp during your stay. Although they typically follow us when we walk down there. We allow dogs to be off leash at owner’s risk. There may be other dogs in camp so please use discretion when letting your dogs off leash and be mindful of other campers. You must be responsible for your own dogs, we are not responsible for any dog related or dog inflicted injuries. Getting here: We are off of Sleater Kinney Rd in Olympia. We have a long, steep, curvy driveway. At the bottom of the driveway, you will find signs directing you to the camp site. If you have extra vehicles, we have extra parking spaces adjacent to the campsite. The road out to camp may be bumpy (we do our best to keep it smooth) so go slow and beware of natural obstacles. Rules: 1. Check in time is 2:00pm or later. For afterhours arrivals, please let us know. 2. Check out time is 12:00pm or earlier 3. Quiet hours from 9pm to 8am. You are far from our house, so we can’t hear you but sound travels well over the water to our neighbors. Nobody wants grumpy neighbors, please be respectful. 4. Remain within the campground boundary during all times. If you need us, please feel free to text or call. 5. Please put all trash in the trash cans or take it with you. 6. Remove all dog doo and dispose of in the trash. 7. Leave what you find (except ripe blackberries). Please leave any forest treasures where you found them. 8. Cleanup any debris left from firewood/camp activities before departing. 9. Enjoy nature and respect it. Please stay on trails and respect the plants and the natural habitats. 10. Stay off the dock. It is closed for repair. 11. Do not use the trailside fireplace (if you find it) or our personal canoe or kayaks. However, feel free to enjoy the view from the seats by the fireplace. 12. Be cautious when walking around, the ground is bumpy and there are exposed tree roots that can be tripping hazards. We are not responsible from injuries. 13. Help us keep it clean- if you find any garbage around, please pick it up or let us know. 14. Keep fires small and when you are finished PUT YOUR FIRES DEAD OUT! There are 5 gallon buckets by each fire put to fill before you start your fire for putting them out. 15. Please do not burn trash or food. It can create issues with the wildlife. Put all waste in garbage cans.

Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. The Khohay Farm

Nestled at the foothills of Mount Rainier, we are a serene farm 45 miles away from Seattle, 36 min drive away from the Mt Rainier Carbon River entrance, 1 hour from the Crystal Mountain Resort, and 1 hour 30 minutes from the Sunrise Visitor Center. I live here with my partner Khohay who now takes care of his family farm which used to be his late aunts Soma Institute of Structural Integration school (now ran by his brother on Whidbey Island). AMENITIES/THINGS TO DO: -There is a communal bunkhouse on property available to guests with a flushable toilet and a hot water shower. It also includes a kitchenette and we welcome you to use any of the kitchen/cookware and appliances. Our 2 French Bulldogs also stay in this building but they love humans and all the attention you can give them! -We have a wellness yurt with well equipped gym that is available to use as an add-on. -There is an infrared sauna that can sit up to 3 people located next to the yurt accompanied by a cold plunge as an add-on. -You are welcome to wander around the entire property and grab fruit daily from the trees when in season or have us get you farm fresh eggs from the coop to eat for breakfast. -Say hello to the animals (sheep, goats, chickens, cats and dogs) or go for a walk/run around the countryside roads with walking/running/biking adventures available to you along the beautiful and paved Foothills Trail extending 21 miles from Buckley to Puyallup. -Communal fire pit areas with picnic table and chairs available when fire ban is not in effect. There is one close to the communal kitchen area, one closer to the field by the barn, and we have a moveable metal one which we can transport to your camp spot if preferred. We sell a milkcrate full of wood for $10 if needed. -WIFI is available closer to the communal area. LOCATION: 2 miles from downtown Buckley with Blue Max Meats and the Rainier Fresh Country Store for a quick trip down the road for groceries and less than 15 minute drive to Enumclaw with more restaurant options available and Bonney Lake also 15 minutes away with Target, Costco, Fred Meyers etc.

We are a peaceful, private, forested 6 acers that is 6 minutes to a secluded neighborhood beach with big mountain views and only 8 minutes to Alder Lake State Park. Our OFF-GRID location offers treetop views, a hillside cabin, wood fired sauna, and soon to include select areas for tent camping. We are just 15 minutes to Elbe's Whiskey Train. 30 minutes to Mt. Rainier National Park. 20 minutes to the grocery store in town that has cool restaurants and a great crystal shop. Local hikes are close, include gravel, paths, and waterfalls. Our property IS off-grid and collects rain for water and solar for electricity. We do not have WiFi but do have cell service. Potable water is provided in small quantities at each site. A rustic wooden floor (with some paint splatters) and a braided rug give you a feeling of comfort and home. On site we have a private portable bathroom complete with hand-washing station, and an outside combination fire pit and charcoal barbecue with a grill top and s’mores sticks provided so you can cook over a wood fire or coals! And an outdoor table and chairs that are super comfortable! The house itself is heated, insulated, and has working electricity/outlets for computer or phone charger. Clean bedding and pillows provided, washed in fragrance-free detergent between each guest. We provide a full water jug with spigot, hot water kettle, teapot, assorted teas, an empty growler to use, 2 pint glasses and 2 mugs. Private area of the yard with plenty of room to relax. We have a disc golf goal and discs to use as well. Firewood is available for purchase onsite for $10/milk crate full. This comes with a kindling kit. Territorial views of the tree line and sunset views to die for! We are located near Meigs Park as well as a 10-minute walk from Manitou beach and an easy bike ride to the ferry that goes to Seattle! 2 miles from the Grand Forest and 3 miles from Battle Point park. We are exactly 3 miles from the ferry terminal in a convenient mid-island location. NEED TO KNOW (managing expectations):A note on the bathroom: the hobbit hole is small and will not fit a bathroom or plumbing. Your nearby private portable restroom is cleaned thoroughly between each guest and serviced (pumped out) weekly. We consider our listing to be “glamping”. Also our property borders a local 2 lane highway and you can expect road noise mostly during the day and evening. While it is a private setting you can expect to hear the road. Weekends and evenings it is quieter, and when the door is closed it is quiet. The Hobbit House is suitable for 2 guests or 2 adults and a small child that can share the bed. The bed is a queen size, and we can't allow sleeping on the floor as the door opens inwards and is a safety concern. However, additional guests are welcome to bring a tent and camp outside, for $20/tent, up to 6 additional guests or 2 tents, whichever is smaller. George took a deep breath and exhaled. He smiled, a twinkle in his eye, and said, "Randy, (dramatic pause), don't worry, {another lengthy pause) don't hurry." We are fortunate to live here, and we want to share the beauty with you. Please stay here and take a moment free of worry and free of hurry. About the hosts: Camas and her father, Randy, co-host this property. One or both will be onsite at all times should any issue arise. Please message if you need a last-minute booking and it appears to be blocked. We can't do an "instant book," but there's always a possibility that we can accommodate you. About the site: This 17-foot 2005 Jay Feather Ultra Lite trailer is clean and cozy - perfect for one or two people. A third person is welcome, but it will likely be a little cramped. The double bed has a memory foam mattress and is made-up with quality sheets. Towels are provided at no extra cost. The kitchen has a 3 burner propane stove and oven, a small fridge, a microwave, and sink. Coffee, tea, tea kettle, French Press, creamer, and sugar are provided, as well as a few dishes, a pot and pan, and utensils. The spring water is sourced directly from our property and filtered, so you can enjoy it from the tap! In my opinion, it's some of the best water around - feel free to fill up before you depart. The site is set back from WA-State Route 106, but only by about 20 yards. There is traffic noise during the day, but it's not too bad, and it is typically pretty quiet at night. Hopefully you enjoy the sounds of wildlife ~ birds, lapping waves, and even a creek add to the experience. A panoramic view of the estuary is one of the best parts of this property. It's dreamy, really. With the tide changing every 6 hours, you just can't get bored. You may fall asleep to tide flats and wake up to what feels like a lake. If you like being on or in the water - bring some kayaks, surf or paddle boards, and some high quality water shoes (never go barefoot!). You will have access to 400 feet of private beach and tide flats. Kayaking is tide dependent - recommendations for paddle times will be in the binder. (Currently closed to harvesting 6/23) If you have your shellfish license, feel free to harvest a few oysters or clams (depending on DOH recommendations) . Be aware - it is a rustic beach, and it is across the highway, so watch for traffic and watch your step on the beach. Our house is within sight of the trailer, but you have to make an effort to see it. From our house, we can only see the parking spot, and due to shrubbery & a shed, we can't hear talking voices, so it is pretty private. We do have 2 very friendly, small dogs who will undoubtedly alert us to your arrival, but they stay on our deck and quiet down right away. A welcome binder and maps will help you get an idea of the area. For a tiny town, Union has a LOT to offer - there are several dining choices within a few miles. Union was even listed in the top 10 "Prettiest Towns in America" in Forbes Magazine in 2009! Learn more about this land: One of a kind view of the Skokomish Estuary and Olympic Mountains.
