The Shire at Elfendahl Forest
What a magical and majestical time we had in Gary's Forest. Upon arrival Gary helped accommodate us with our transit van and the new campsite he recommended was perfect. Gary was very friendly and readily available whenever we needed anything. His place is beautiful, kid friendly and a great haven for shade in the summer!

The Wanderbus at Elfendahl Forest
The Wanderbus experience was one of my favorite parts of my PNW adventure. It was our last stay before going home after 4 days of hiking and it was the perfect end to our trip. The bed itself was extremely comfortable and the vibes were ‘chefs kiss’. The optional private hot tub was amazing and a must for anyone.. Gary provides essential oils you can add to your water for extra relaxation. Perfect for the sore muscles. I was overwhelmed by how much love Gary put into his entire property. From the compostable toilet & the fully equipped outdoor kitchen to the creative art, whimsical decor and the property pets.. I wish we could’ve stayed a bit longer. Maybe silly but my favorite part of the camp experience was the outdoor shower in the morning. It was so refreshing - spacious, fresh air, hot water & good water pressure. He also provides plenty of body wash/shampoo options. His dogs were super sweet and fun to play with. We also got to pet the bunnies and walk the trail to find a garden & chickens. Very cool place and I will recommend this to anyone visiting the area. Thanks for your hospitality Gary and for sharing your space with us.

I loved camping here! Gary was a lovely host, the space was fun and geared towards families and community. My kids loved all the activities, bunnies, chickens, and toys. We will be back!

What a magical place! Gary was a great host, and we had a wonderful time. The camp site was lovely, the other guests were very nice ans it was a great place for kids. Gary was a gracious host, I would highly recommend especially for family’s with kids.

The Wanderbus at Elfendahl Forest
My family of 3 + pup had such an amazing stay at the bus! The various games, toy, activities, decorations, and resident animals were a hit. My daughter's favorite part was playing fetch with Bacchus the dog - endless sticks for him! The bus and grounds had everything we needed. Inside is a queen bed, hand pump sink, and little stove. There is also a propane heater inside for winter time. Right outside the bus is a propane and a wood fire pit, some camping chairs, s'mores supplies, and private clean compost bathroom. The communal area also has a super cute clean bathroom and an amazing heated shower! The kitchen was fantastic, with propane grills available and a handy dishwashing station too. Right next to the bus is a short staircase that takes you to a sweet little creek. The bus definitely gives you the most privacy compared to the other sites. We peeked at the Lotus tent and that looked nice too, and is a little closer to the play communal area. whole area is well shaded, but be sure to bring lots of bug deterrent for the mosquitos (though there is some around the communal area should you forget). Would say this place is best suited for elementary age kids -- Gary has made a truly magical fun place and has lots of projects in the works, but this also means lots of tools/supplies lying around, so you would have to keep an extra close eye on the really littles. We can't wait to come back and throw more sticks for Bacchus! Thank you for your hospitality!

The Lotus tent in Elfendahl Forest
We had a great time camping at Elfendahl Forest! Our doggos had a blast exploring the campground, the lotus tent was quite cozy and spacious for both of us (plus a crate for the doggos) and the amenities met all our expectations. Staff were very friendly, would go back in a heartbeat! Might consider taking an extra day next time though so we have a little bit more time and can check out the nearby drive-in theater.

**don’t walk, run!** We had the BEST time in the forest! Gary, Candy & the dogs really helped turn our camp into a home. This place is even better and more immersive than the pictures & the yurt has a heater and an extra air mattress which were surprises pluses for us. It sounds like they have even more fun plans to grow the space & we can’t wait to go back! Maybe you’ll find the little duckies we placed around camp to add to the treasure :) thank you for everything guys!!!

10/10 camping experience. If you are looking for whimsy, this is the place to go. Beautiful location, wonderful hosts. Kiddo loved the kids area, partner loved the axe throwing, we all loved the dogs. We will be back!

The Shire at Elfendahl Forest
My friend and I had a wonderful time at the Shire tent site! The site has its own firepit and firewood is provided, which is awesome. Walking from your car to the site is only about a minute and they've got wheelbarrows and such to carry your things in, so hauling the massive amount of stuff we brought was easy. The kitchen is fully outfitted, the shower is hot and very cute, and the bathroom isn't stinky! Everyone was super kind and the resident dogs are fun to play with. Absolutely beautiful property with lots to explore nearby, we'll be back!

Very cute spot, wish we had more time to spend there as it’s a great spot to disconnect. The bus was so cozy, super comfortable bed and very clean. The gravel road isn’t to bad just take it slow.

The Wanderbus at Elfendahl Forest
My second time staying was even more magical than the first! I simply love it at Elfendahl Forest and can’t wait to stay again. I would literally live there if I could! Highlights: the wanderbus is the coolest and has everything you need! There were three cool dogs: Bacchus, Raven and Honey. Along with awesome chickens, bunnies and even a couple of lovely cats. The shower was amazing and I love the communal kitchen and compostable toilets and all the fun decorations and discoverable surprises all over.

Wandered out to the Wanderbus!
The Wanderbus at Elfendahl Forest
Gary was an excellent host! The Wanderbus and hot tub were just what we needed to escape the city life for the weekend. Everything was well stocked and there were some unexpected provisions that made it clear that Gary puts a lot of thought into having guest stay in his community. The setup also showed Gary’s passion and enthusiasm for creating the world around you, from the creativity & whimsy to the skillful woodworking & craftsmanship. Excellent stay, would definitely recommend. Thanks Gary!

A Wanderbus Getaway
The Wanderbus at Elfendahl Forest
The Wanderbus was incredible! I absolutely adored this gem of a place and the entire property was so whimsically lovely :) The bus itself was gorgeous with all of the woodwork Gary did to make it feel cozy. The bed and pillows were beyond comfy. He is a fantastic host, incredibly friendly, and very responsive. I would absolutely stay here again and hope to visit another time soon! My only regrets were missing out on the the hot tub and having to cut my stay short due to unforeseen circumstances, with which Gary was very kind and understanding. Thank you so much for everything!!

Amazing Rainy Day Refuge
The Wanderbus at Elfendahl Forest
The revamped bus was the coziest rainy day refuge. I was sad the rain kept me from fully exploring and appreciating the fantastical campgrounds. But it was so easy to be completely content at the bus-turned-cabin site because of the privacy and having everything you need for a proper glamp, even in a downpour. All the details are so thoughtful, from the tea kettle to the outdoor compost toilet, the outdoor stringlights to the indoor power outlets (used sparingly on a battery)-- I honestly can't wait to come back and *actually* use the spring water hot tub. Missed opportunity when the universe gave me a surprise puppy to adopt the day of the trip! Gary was incredibly understanding and even invited us to play with his own pups loose on the campgrounds! Koda and I appreciate all the space you made for us, and we will be back very soon!

Love the Bus!
The Wanderbus at Elfendahl Forest
This is such a special place! The Wanderbus was cozy and quirky and perfect. More than warm enough and Louis the Third is an immaculate toilet. I took advantage of the hot tub both nights and it’s such a great perk. Definitely try the tangerine essential oil stay with it! I came to take pictures and get some quiet reading time and it didn’t disappoint. I would recommend it so highly (as long as you don’t book when I want to come back!)

This is the best hipcamp I've ever been to. It was so quiet, the camper was extremely cozy and well stocked, and the spot was very private. The off grid hot tub was unique and well worth the extra fee! The whole campground is a very fun and creative space and you can really tell how much love and care Gary and crew have put into this place. I'll be back for summer camping!

The Wanderbus at Elfendahl Forest
Gary was so attentive and welcoming! Even though I came during a rainy time, the land was beautiful and whimsical. The staff there were all so accommodating and helped with anything I needed (firewood, the hot tub, heaters). The community kitchen was sooo much fun to use and the shower was amazing! It was fun to walk around and see the bunnies and chickens as well as see how hard the staff work to create more fun amenities for the future. Gary mills the wood himself and you can see how all of the structures are such a labor of love!

The Lotus tent in Elfendahl Forest
Gary and friends thought of everything. Fun for the whole family. From the glowing rock paintings, the chickens and fresh eggs, bunnies, beautiful garden, the color and whimsy - It was absolutely perfect. The girls were able to run around the magical forest, dressed like fairies, homemade crowns and all. TJ was a volunteer at the time and he truly made the entire stay such a fun experience. He was helpful, kind, fun and truly just an amazing person. We can’t wait to visit again.

We had an AMAZING time! Gary, TJ, and Allie were so kind and helpful. They fit right in with our crazy bunch. The adults loved it as much as the kiddos. We will be back.

Lotus Tent Glamping
The Lotus tent in Elfendahl Forest
Loved camping here so much that I reserved the Lotus tent to take a friend. Very spacious and comfortable with a cozy bed. I brought a couple Rumpl blankets as rain was forecast so it got colder out than is has been. Slept wonderfully. Nice composting toilet and kitchen area along with a propane fire pit and plenty of chairs. Everything we needed. Gary and staff were always happy to accommodate requests for anything we needed. Walked the loop trail up by the garden. Enjoyed finding mushrooms, gnomes and seashells in the woods. Just a great, relaxing weekend.

Had a great time! The tent was super cute and cozy and you could see how much effort they put into the surrounding area
