Waterfall Sanctuary is a hidden gem on 17 acres, bordered on two sides by the Gifford Pinchot N F. In the heart of the Columbia River Gorge just outside Carson, Washington, it is home to a mini-farm with goats, ducks, & chickens. Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River & a swimming hole, & a short distance further is the Pacific Crest Trail.
A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River.
Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property.
Keep in mind that the property is very rugged except for the trails we have provided to access other parts of the property. We are as off grid & sustainable as possible- while no electricity or running water is available at the individual sites, we provide battery or solar operated lighting, & a container of water for each site.

You feel like you’re waking up in a state park, but you’re just ten minutes from town. Mt Adams and many hiking trails are nearby. If you are a rafter or a kiter, we are very close to the river as well!
It will sleep 4 comfortably- please contact me about extra guests. There is a trundle bed with twin mattresses, and a Queen bed. Both have fitted sheets only. Please bring everything else you may need to be comfortable.
The cabin is off grid so charge your electronics beforehand and bring a cooler!
It’s a great place for a reset : ) Get your feet on the ground and wake up with the birds chirping.

What makes this cabin cool? Well, it is a retired DNR fire watch cabin! The cabin is as original as can be! Equipped with battery operated and solar lights along with propane heat! Porta potty right next to it for your use! There is a full bathroom and amenities to include fridge, microwave, coffee pot and air fryer just a short walk away! Dishes are not included and cooking utensils are very limited.
Winter sports galore up here right now! Cross country skiing, snow shoeing, ample parking for snow mobile trailers! OR bring your favorite book and come enjoy a peaceful restful weekend!
Springtime is a gorgeous time of year up here and turkey season is a favorite! Ample room for boats/trailers if you are considering hitting Drano lake for some springer salmon fishing! It is apx 30 minutes away.
In the summertime come up and enjoy the hiking! Sleeping Beauty trail is just a few minutes away and you are within 30 minutes or Hood River if you are looking to explore and check out wineries. There are cheese caves, ice caves, Goose Lake, Council Lake and so much more!
Fall is one of my favorite seasons! Hood River fishery has been amazing and the fall colors can't be beat!
There is a fire pit and campfires are welcome when there is not a burn ban.
Trout Lake Inn is a local favorite up here and check their Facebook to see what live entertainment they have coming up.
Pets are welcome - please make sure they are well behaved and are kept close to the cabin. I do have my own friendly dogs (Ruby and Muskett) on the property, but they do not have access to the cabin area.

Our backyard might be the most serene you've ever been to! Eight acres of meadow and forest, surrounded by orchards, fields, and the roaring White Salmon River is the getaway that surrounds you with nature but has the comforts of home. The four lodging sites include 3 glamping tents and 1 gravel parking area with hookups for an RV or trailer (20' or less).
To enhance everyone's comfort level, we have two plumbed restroom buildings and an outdoor kitchen. There is a large meadow with lawn games and two propane fire pits - and of course, heckling the rafters and kayakers from the riverbank is probably the best entertainment! They love waving and yelling "helllooooo" back!
The property is only 15 minutes from Hood River (to the south) and about 25 from Trout Lake (to the north). Outdoor activities are endless in the Columbia Gorge - we have two superior rafting companies located nearby that can take you on a white water excursion down the White Salmon, and if wine is your thing, there are multiple opportunities for local tastings and tours. Waterfalls are abundant in this area and there are a ton of hikes to see them, ranging from easy to difficult.
Many of our guests comment on how peaceful it is here and that they've never slept better - so, in order to keep this space as relaxing as possible, I do not allow children unless all three tents are rented by the same party. Children are allowed if staying in an RV or trailer that is hard-sided (ie, nobody will hear the tantrums - whether it's from a child or their parent!)
Unfortunately, I do not allow pets. I'm sorry!!! We have 5 of our own who live onsite and I don't want to risk any unwelcome interactions. Our cats (Daisy, Marabelle, and Baby Meow Meow) are friendly and social, so if you have allergies, please just be aware that they might come up to you for a quick visit! We also have two young dogs (Blue who is Husky/Black Lab and Rooster who is Corgie/Blue Heeler). I try to keep the dogs at our house when we have guests but should they come down to the meadow, just know that much like the cats, they are super friendly and love to hang out.
While we are located on the river, I do not allow put-ins or dips from our property due to liability - the current is quite strong and the water is glacier-cold. There is a kayak/raft drop-in at BZ Corners, a quick 3 mile drive up the road from us, or at Northwestern Park which is just down the road from us, and there are swimming holes all over the Gorge (just not right here!) Please do not venture past the rock divider at the edge of the riverbank, as doing so could subject you to poison oak that lives along the river's edge. If you want to try your hand at fishing, there is a small trail that leads down to the water's edge near the River House - just beware of the poison oak.
Our propane fire pits are communal - one is located next to the kitchen, and one is next to the river. Both have igniters, just read the directions for lighting. We do not allow individual fire pits, nor wood-burning fires due to the county-wide burn ban that is in effect every summer.
Our kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, Keurig, electric skillet, 3 propane skillets and a grill, blender, cooking utensils, sink with running water, breakfast table, and extra seating. If you're bringing substantial amounts of food/beverage, you should bring a cooler, as space in the fridge is limited. All food will need to be kept either in the refrigerator bins, or in your own cooler or bin that animals can't get into. I do not provide food products such as coffee, creamer, seasonings, oils, butter, etc - basically anything that could spoil. I do provide a limited number of k-cups for the Keurig, in case you just want a quick (if not that great) cup of coffee in the morning (please limit your use to 2 per person).
I offer a 15% discount when all three tents are rented by the same party, so just send me a message if you're interested in bringing friends. I'm also open to hosting small weddings/events of 50 or less - we host our own events here every summer and it's been a hit so I'm offering it up to others as well.

Weekend Trip to Peace on Earth
The cabin was peaceful and private, and we felt truly secluded and unplugged from the digital world. Our reasons for going or to get isolated from technology and the Internet and this cabin was the perfect place to do that. Brian was a warm welcoming host and their book of recommendations for nearby hikes and food were top-notch. Gnat Creek was a beautiful hike.

The cabin was incredibly cozy. Even though it was below freezing outside for most of our trip the heater and blankets kept us super warm inside. Waking up to the cows and the mountains always felt amazing, and at night if the sky was clear so many stars were visible.

If being off grid isnt your cup of tea then this cabin probably isnt for you but we love it. One of our favoright things about staying here is that there is very little to no cell service and wifi only if you want to hook up to it. We love being off grid and having quality family time to interact with eachother with out the distractions of cell phones or tv. No power no problem for us! This is our favoright family get away spot by far.

2 nights at WindWoodRivers
Absolutely stunning location. The time I went was also superb in that no one else was camping so nature really presented itself. I saw bald eagles, great blue heron, salmon jumping up river. It was unforgettable.
The sauna experience was lovely. There was a suggestion to pour water over rocks but I'd recommend that as mandatory to maintain heat & steam. There wasn't hot water which I didn't entirely mind since a cold outdoor shower after sauna was invigorating & exciting to the sense. The moment I wanted hot water was at end of stay when I had to dispose of the compost toilet liquids & wanted to wash hands with warmer water.
It is a truly beautiful landscape & an enjoyable glamping experience.

Weekend Trip to Peace on Earth
Brian and the fan we wonderful hosts. Very accommodating. Cabin was quiet and welcoming. The bar area was also a pleasant place to hang out next to a fire and relax. My son and i had a great weekend.

The forest view cabin was cozy. We went in winter so bring some extra blankets and you’ll be set. We loved the trails around the property and the goats were so cute. Tyla gave us great recommendations for local restaurants that were delicious and the little cafe in the house was a great added bonus. We also did the sauna and it was amazing.

This place is glamping at its absolute best. It has everything you need and more, yet you feel at one with nature. My wife and I stayed for one night with the idea of shutting away from technology for the weekend and boy did it deliver. We ended up enjoying the view and just talking all night while listening to the rain. If you need a break from the real world, this is 100% the place to go. A huge thank you to the owner.

This place is awesome! Dawson has done an amazing job with creating the space. It has everything you could need!
You can really tell a lot of thought has gone into the place and a lot of work has been involved. We had the best time and were so cozy together. We were lucky to have rain over night and it was so peaceful listening to the rain on the roof as we fell asleep.
The directions provided made it very easy to find and a couple of wagons and a lantern are available to help you get your things out to the cabin.
As we came in November, we didn’t get the opportunity to use the outdoor space. But we still braved using the shower and it’s worth it, so toasty and incredible views!
Inside is cozy and comfortable. The kitchenette has everything you could need. That bed though! So comfy, as someone who deals with chronic pain, I really appreciate how comfortable the bed is!
It was really nice to get off grid a little and put our phones away for the night.
We had such a good time we are definitely looking to come back again next year in the summer hopefully!
If you get the chance to stay here, do it!

I appreciated every little thoughtfully placed and prepared detail of this cabin! Like the title says, it’s got everything you need— and more. The only mistake I made was not booking a longer stay! I will without a doubt be back and truly can’t wait to return. The views, the solitude, the cozy vibes. Worth every penny.

Great Visitors center! Going back for hiking!
I stopped at the visitor center while driving back to Seattle. I have passed it a million times and this was the first time stopping. Just 10min off the highway. Will definitely be planning a trip to do some hiking north of Mt. St. Helens now!

Bee Inspired?? Yes!!
We had a wonderful stay at Bee Inspired Gardens! We were in Site #3, which easily accommodated our large 39’ fifth-wheel with plenty of space to pull in and set up comfortably. The site included water and electric, which made our stay even more convenient.
The gardens were absolutely beautiful—clearly a labor of love and care. Kay gave us a personal tour of both the gardens and the apiary, and shared her knowledge about creating pollinator habitats. It was both educational and inspiring!
A picnic table was provided at the site, and we were delighted to find a vase of fresh flowers waiting for us—a thoughtful and welcoming touch. Communication with Kay was excellent from start to finish.
Highly recommend Bee Inspired Gardens for anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic, and educational stop!

Loved our visit to MSH! The views all along the drive were amazing. We played in Coldwater Lake and visited the Science Center-breathtaking views. We enjoyed 2 hikes. Loved the vegetation. Wish we had more time and better understood the different entry points and trails to know how to best utilize our time.

If you're in the area, you HAVE to visit! It's so pretty and underrated mountains. It has tons of history, display and learnings! We truly enjoyed the visit. Stop by Coldwater Lake if you have time, it's worth it!

Johnstone Ridge visitor center at the end of the road was still closed, but Coldwater Lake visitor center just reopened, and offered a great view of the mountain.

Although the center was closed for renovations, the walking path and bathrooms were open for use. We ventured up the mountain to the many viewpoints and forestry learning center and ended at Coldwater Lake due to road closure. It was a great trip and highly recommended.

Gorgeous hike! Went to Mt. Adams South Slope glacier. Had to snowshoe 2 miles to the site due to road conditions and lots of still still inaccessible by car in March.
