Batwater Station on Columbia River

10 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents60 acres · Clatskanie, OR
Batwater Station is located halfway between Portland and the Oregon Coast on the Columbia River. A private refuge where river otter, beaver, mink, muskrat, seals, raccoons along with threatened Columbia river white tailed deer can be seen. Property has 1,000 feet of boat docks, river deck, and pier. At the pier is a full kitchen, heated bathroom and shower room. Included are 2 outhouses, a fire pit for summer months, a viewing station overlooking the wetlands along with brick charcoal fired barbecue and another propane barbecue. We are committed to your privacy so guests are limited and spread out. High speed internet through out the property. Batwater worked with several agencies when we breeched a levee and flooded 26 acres for salmon and wildlife habitat. Hike along the wetlands and see beaver dams and dens. Batwater is also home for many types of birds including eagles, osprey, tree swallow, purple martins, barn swallows, wood ducks, common and hooded mergansers, mallards, scoots, scaups, grebes, cormorants, great egrets, blue herons, geese and many types of song birds . In the spring and summer see our returning osprey who have. nested on our dock since 2013. There are now 2 osprey platform since a pair of Canada geese choose that as their nesting site as well. Some bald eagles winter here but we have our resident bald eagles Hep and Hope. They arrived in 2003 to start their nest on Crims Island. They still nest there although there old nest tree collapsed in 2020. Many birds migrate here for the winter. Common mammals are river otter, mink, muskrat, raccoons, nutria, coyotes, black tailed and threatened Colombia White Tailed deer. We also are home to native turtles and frogs. Batwater is a working farm with cattle feeding on lush pastures, 2 retired horses and chickens. When eggs are available, we will share some with you. Batwater is a great place to kayak, canoe, paddle board or row during the summer months. We have windy afternoons for windsurfers or sailors. The Columbia River is well known for salmon, and sturgeon. For an extra fee you can moor your larger boat while visiting. There are a volley ball and badminton set ups along with horse shoes during the summer months. We suggest swimming during the summer months when the tide is coming in or slack. You can also walk or drive down to Mayger beach which is popular with locals. There are sandy beaches on Crims island that you can paddle over too. Check out the pictures for more information.

Serene Green Bus & Sauna Sanctuary

1 site · Lodging5 acres · Kalama, WA
Want to try out van life? Our carefully converted 28' Skoolie bus is nestled on 5 acres of forested land for a unique glamping experience. The bus features a cozy pillow lined queen bed in the back. For additional sleeping, we do have an adult sized cot that fits in the aisle of the bus, and a bench that can be used as a sleeping area for smaller bodies. It can comfortably sleep 2, possible up to 4 people inside the bus. There is additional spaces for tents or small trailers if you'd like. The kitchen includes running water, a propane 2-burner stove, mini fridge, toaster, dishes, espresso press, and basic cooking supplies. Outside features include an upper deck, charcoal BBQ, outside table/bar area, chairs, and a propane fire pit. There is also a converted wood powered steam sauna with cold plunge tub available for use a few steps away! We are located about 9 miles off I5 up Kalama River Road, just a short car ride from river access where you can fish, float, swim, or enjoy the scenery. Our property includes about 5km of hiking trails that wander through our trees, of varying steepness. You are free to wander the trails during your visit. You can also stop by the main house next door and meet all the animals, if llamas, goats, dogs, or chickens are your thing! IMPORTANT LOGISTICS TO NOTE: We have recording security cameras that monitor the driveway entrance and outside of the bus. There are no cameras inside. The bus is quaint and comfortable, but rustic. We are just getting started with this, and hope to add amenities as we go along. The experience will be closer to camping than a hotel. The bus is located just a few feet off the main road. There is parking for 2-3 cars. Our main home is not in sight of the bus, and the trees provide privacy, however we are only a few hundred feet away. Some farm sounds may carry. The bus is equipped with solar power, however on cloudy days it doesn't get much of a charge. You should be able to charge your phones and operate the bus lights at night. There is spotty cell service and spotty WiFi at this time. We have been experimenting with WiFi extenders but still haven't found something that provides streaming quality service. Usually you can make phone calls and receive texts in the bus, but if you walk toward the main house, you should be able to pick up a stronger signal if needed. We do have an indoor-safe propane heater to keep the bus warm at night. 5 gallons of propane are provided to operate the heater, the outdoor fire pit, and the stove. We are in a HIGH RISK zone for wildfires. Please NO wood fires outside, we do provide the propane fire pit for your use. Please NEVER leave the sauna unattended when it is burning. There currently is no shower facility. The bus does have a hot water heater with outside shower faucet for things like rinsing your hands or feet. There is a porta potty on site for the bathroom. We encourage composting and recycling and will provide containers for both. We will consider pets on a case by case basis with additional cleaning fee.

Four Directions Retreat

18 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents27 acres · Rainier, OR
Come relax and enjoy the amazing energy at Four Directions Retreat. We offer beautiful and shaded campsites and a tiny cabin that will be sure to please. We also have an amazing outdoor stage nestled at the bottom of a natural amphitheater that is perfect for a variety of entertaining needs. When not playing corn hole, disc golf or other yard games, our friendly little goats are known for putting on a show of their own just to get loves and scratches from our guests. Our beautiful property features a healthy 45+ year old Douglas Fir forest and a spacious meadow which is stunning in the spring with wild grasses and beautiful flowers. During the summer, you can take a break from the heat and relax amongst the huge ferns, Fir, Alder and Cedar trees and enjoy a variety of delicious berries found all over the property. You may also want to stretch your legs and take a leisurely walk along some of the old logging roads or give yourself a push along a forested hiking trail. Using mostly reclaimed materials, we built a stage great for entertainment (concerts, weddings, movie nights, etc... ), an outdoor event kitchen, and most importantly - the three composting outhouses strategically located to best accommodate our guest's basic needs. We also have a gorgeous Bathhouse available for a nominal fee to recoup the costs of waste disposal. Check out our 4D Full Property Booking if you are planning an event and would like a private place to host your celebration, gathering, or concert. Caterers love the outdoor event kitchen! We are happy to answer your questions and share our experiences with large events to help with your decision making process. The 4D Tiny Cabin includes a large space with a basic camp kitchen, fire pit, picnic table and space for a few tents (depending on size) for additional family or friends. We have 12 traditional camp sites that include picnic tables and fire pits that are spaced well apart to provide more privacy than you would ever get at a standard county, state or federal campground. Important to know: 1) A handful of the camp sites can accommodate up to 24 foot in length RV's and trailers pulled by a 4x4, camper vans, or trucks with campers. 2) Please reach out to us if you have additional questions about which sites would be best and why we insist on having a 4x4 pulling a trailer. 3) Also, overloaded minivans also have difficulties making it up the hill, but we can help. If that isn't enough, we are located close to many areas of interest. If you like disc golf, Trojan Park is only 8 minutes away. You can also jump in the water at a several County Parks along the mighty Columbia River which are about 10 minutes away. You can also take a dip in the picturesque Beaver Falls, a stunning 20-minute drive through the country followed by a short hike. If adventure "on the water" is more your thing, then you can always take a kayak around Scappoose Bay which is a 30-minute drive from 4D. Lastly, historic Astoria, Oregon and the Pacific Ocean is only one hour away. You can find out more interesting things about Four Directions Retreat on Facebook and TikTok.
