Offering a lovely, personal campsite area surrounded by beautiful trees nestled at back of a ranch with horses (and chickens) on the outskirts of the small, charming town of Yelm. (In some of the pictures you will see horses in camp area, but are not turned out when campers are there.) There is 20 amp elec. (which can safely power a 30 amp rv unless you run too many things at once) and water/hose. There is a porta-potty and a shower shed with a tankless water heater for your convenience.
We also offer a small bunk room in the barn. Heated and cooled (fan) with a small "kitchen" area, it has a pull out futon which sleeps 2 and requires you supply your own bedding and towels.
1 Hour to Mt. Rainier Nat. Park. 1 1/2 hours to Olympia Nat. Park. 2 1/2 hours to Mt. St. Helens. 1 hour to Seattle. Close to Puget Sound and loads of nature spots. Local hiking and fishing aplenty. Our property is surrounded by nature, yet only a 5 minute drive into town where you will find charming shops, restaurants, cafes and coffee houses, a fabulous movie theater and only 15 minutes to Red Wind Casino.
There is a railroad track next to the property, only used on Tues. and Thurs. between 10 am and 1 pm. Rarely, it may have an additional passing but it has never run after dark or early morning.
(We are close enough to roads that you may hear some traffic. They are county roads and not highly traveled for the most part.)
**Trigger Warnings: We are near JBLM military base so you may occasionally hear military doings.
Country neighbors occasionally do target practice, so you may hear some shooting.
As a horse property, we require that everyone sign a release of liability waiver and show legal ID.

We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey.
The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups!
Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi.
About the campground:
The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins.
There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊
The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. This is private access -- the expansive wetlands prevent neighbors - you will only share this special space with the occasional kayaker. True glamping experience! 2 Cabins have 1/2 baths and group fire pit and I site has separate bath and private fire pit. All sites have access to a shower. The Village is located right at base-camp for Mt Rainier with private access to the Nisqually River and 10 minutes to the entrance of the National Forest. Everything you could want for camping, a romantic getaway, or climbing/hiking Mt Rainier.

Absolutely beautiful views! The campsite was clean, varied, and sprawling.
The Airstream provided nice amenities and was very well stocked, while the Dome provides nice living space.
The only thing I'll note: our dog found the gravel paths very uncomfortable to walk on. I'd recommend dog shoes to anyone bringing a furry friend.

We loved staying in the yurt, the accommodations were simple and perfect, a great place to unwind and unplug! I saw some reviews before we came that made me a bit nervous, but after experiencing the place myself I had to share the positives. Before booking take a moment to READ DEN’S DESCRIPTION fully so you know what to expect and how to prepare appropriately!
The composting toilets were clean and pleasant, and the shower gets so wonderfully warm! The wood mat on the floor keeps everything clean too.
The kitchen is a real plus, basically an industrial kitchen setup in a rustic hobbit worthy setting. It rained on our last morning there and listening to the rain while sitting under the metal roof was as idyllic and picturesque as it gets.
We also appreciated talking to Max about the farming side of things, and his help restocking the propane!
We are already planning a return trip with friends 💜

Rustic yurt camping at Elkenmist was very relaxing and enjoyable. Having the outdoor kitchen and hot shower were awesome amenities. We stayed in May of 2026 and at that time, the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and utensils. There was a refrigerator and two gas stoves, one with an oven that I couldn’t get lit, a sink with hot and cold water, and lots of tables and chairs.
Getting to the property was super easy and the directions that came with the reservation directed us right to the yurt. There was a campsite fairly close but we are not opposed to having neighbors.
Overall it was a fun and relaxing trip.

This spot truly is a treasure. Warm lake, private little inlet with lots of options no matter the age. My kids loved the pirate theme and had a few treasure hunts; my teenage daughter stayed on the paddleboard. The kids were up early to fish and went to bed wiped out every night. It is hard to entertain the entire family, but this place has pretty much taken the pressure off and provided a special experience for everyone to enjoy the time spent here!

Weekend Trip to Alder Grove Retreat
My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Alder Grove Retreat. The property is an oasis, so well conceptualized and crafted. You walk down a lovely trail past the sauna to the secluded cabin with an extraordinary view and all the amenities one would want to make it a comfortable getaway. We loved that the sauna is wood fired, that there's a fire pit, and that the cabin was so cozy with large windows. The whole space was exactly as you see and much better in person. Thanks, Dawson!

I have nothing but lovely things to say about my stay at Brian’s cabin! Such a simple and functional space, it felt very clean and straightforward. Comfy furniture & they had anything you’d need for basic cooking. Shower was lovely and there were space heaters available for use, lots of space for my dog to sniff & explore. Brian was friendly and all instructions were very straightforward and easy to understand. Incredible stay, especially at its price point. I would recommend to anybody as well as go back 😌

This place was perfection. From the location to the hosts. What an ideal spot for the perfect camping getaway. The yurt was decorated so beautifully. Lots of blankets and pillows!!

2 nights at Peace on Earth
This was a very beautiful place! 6 out of 5 starts highly recommend! Instructions were clear. We had a very informative welcome introduction from Brian to go over the grounds and cabins uniqueness.
The cabin is tucked away from view of the main house which provides a cute romantic little bubble. Very pet friendly, excited to bring my dog on the next go around.
They provided a fun variety of games and some good old CD classic music.
So glad they had a selection of coffee since we forgot ours lol

1 night at Cole's Cabin on Anderson Island
Cozy cabin in a private setting with a view of the sound. Super comfy bed. Quiet, a nearby walk to the beach. The chocolate chip cookies were a bonus, and Fred is friendly, can talk about the island, lives next door but makes himself invisible.

Weekend Trip to The Village at Rainier
Super cute little cabin! Just as described, it’s perfect for a solo traveler or a couple. Plenty of amenities were provided. Theres a toaster oven in the room and a portable single stove. Dishes, bowls, cups and cooking utensils are all in the room. You’ll have to bring your own towel though. Firewood was also sold on property. Really close to the Longmire entrance of Mt rainier national park.

I loved staying in this cabin! Location is close to a couple lakes we fished at during the day. Cabin included a kitchenette, bathroom, small couch, heating, and a loft bed. Hot tub was amazing and we also had a fire at the fire pit.

It’s beautiful and quiet here. The cabin is cozy, super comfortable beds and couch. We slept so well- it was utterly quiet.
Fred gives very clear directions and is helpful with ideas of where to visit.

The cabin and grounds were absolutely lovely. We needed some relaxing downtime and this fit our needs to a tee. It was great to hike around the trails behind the cabin. The cabin was very comfortable and has everything we needed to cook our meals. We have a a very shy reactive dog and she had a wonderful time with so much isolated space. We will definitely return.

Weekend Trip to Alder Grove Retreat
Despite a slight mixup at the start, Dawson was a very gracious host and we had a comfortable stay at the Eagle View Cabin. The quarters are cozy with mini-kitchenette, bed, and loveseat all within arm's reach of each other. The outdoor rear porch shower & composting toilet worked fine. The propane room heater gets the cabin quite toasty, even on cool nights. If the weather is good, the front deck is fun for eating or watching the sky.

We loved the cabin. It’s a very cozy place to stay, recharge, ground yourself and reconnect with your loved one. I enjoyed how quiet the place is. Brian is an amazing host and the place is neat and clean.
