2 nights at Sacred Waterfall & Quiet Retreat

I had a wonderful time at the sacred waterfall property. The hosts were responsive, accomodating and kind. The waterfall itself is one on the most peaceful and awe inspiring places I've ever been. Never more than a party or 2 in addition to us swimming there. Forest cabin was close to the falls, and had just the essentials.

We loved camping at the ranch over the holiday weekend. We had a nice spacious serene spot where our two 10 man tents that were shaded in the evening, and we got to fall asleep to the babble of the creek. We walked up the creek to the swimming hole and took a wonderful and refreshing dip at the swimming hole where we got to hang out with other fellow hip campers and Dwayne himself! We had an amazing family weekend and made a few new friends. I would definitely recommend this spot for family camping weekends, and my family cannot wait to get back!

Locust Grove was such a magical place.. the sounds of the water and the numerous birds singing their songs with a few sounds of coyotes over the hill you couldn’t ask for a more serene getaway !! We definitely took advantage of the privacy !!! Felt like we were 16 again!!! Will definitely be coming back!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Weekend Trip to Tempest Ranch camp

This is the second time my family and I stayed on Dwayne’s land. This has become a new favorite camping location for us. The camp is dog friendly and sites are distant from one another, allowing for privacy but the campers and dogs can all mingle together at the swim hole/creek. There are gorgeous farm animals that are friendly and enjoy eating carrots if you happen to bring some along! Dwayne is an incredibly generous, friendly and approachable host. He genuinely cares about how your camping experience went and makes his rounds to make sure each site is alright! The camp is easily accessible and is about 15-20 minutes from Watkins Glen. Staying at Tempest Ranch Camp is no doubt worth the stay from wherever you may be traveling from. We cannot wait to stay again in the future!

Amazing stay at Tempest Ranch! Dwayne was a wonderful host and so friendly. The farm had everything we needed and then some. Horses, friendly dogs, streams, trails to walk, beautiful fields, a swim hole, a small pond where my teens canoed. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night! All the other campers were really friendly and made the trip that much better. We adventures to Watkins Glen and Ithaca by day but always made it back in time to enjoy the farm life. We will definitely come back and stay when we are in the area! Our campsite was Tipi By The Stream right next to one of the horse pastures. Highly recommend Tempest Ranch!

I loved this tiny cabin so much! It was so calm and beautiful. Pretty private, only downside is no bathroom and a little bit of spiders in the porta potty. Beautiful river that you can see from the cabin. The host is incredible and so nice!

Beautiful views, close enough to Watkins Glen but far enough so that you don't hear much commotion. Dwayne is lovely and inspiring. The swimming hole I'd refreshing and clean. The symphony of birds every morning was amazing and we saw deer. Can't forget to mention the friendliest donkeys I've ever met live at tempest ranch. Not many bugs for mid summer either! It's a peaceful place, highly recommend to like minded nature lovers.

This was an extremely last minute booking and the host handled it perfectly. Literally booked at 7:30pm for that night and everything was perfect. A great quiet location along a nice stream was a excellent way to wake up. We will definitely be back someday hopefully with more time to explore the area!

The tiny cabin is in a beautiful spot, surrounded by trees and next to a river. It has everything you need for a really enjoyable stay. It’s also less than a mile from Poultney with pubs, restaurants and shops. Safe (because I know some folks worry about that, especially solo travelers like myself) and serene. Ty to Robbin who created a lovely space.

We LOVED this trip! The camp was exactly as described and the host was very detailed in the directions which helped a lot. There were really nice added touches like a water bowl for our dog, fire grates for cooking over the fire, an area to hang the bag for showing, and the pillows/blankets already there. We hiked down to the waterfall the first morning we were there and it was incredible. We were the only ones there which made it so special. We went with our 2 year old daughter and although the water was a bit chilly for her she loved exploring and throwing the rocks for our dog. We had her in a hiking backpack because although it was a short hike, the host wasn’t kidding about it being steep.. but the ropes tied along the hill definitely helped a lot. We became frequent visitors of Barbers farm stand down the street and picked up a few fresh veggies to grill. Make sure you ask them about their vodka. We also hiked Vroman’s nose which is down the road and it was a nice easy, well groomed trail. We hope to be back soon to visit and explore the area some more!

We had a wonderful time staying at Locust Grove! The property is beautiful and well maintained, complete with whimsical trails leading to the camp sites. The camps are ideally situated on the bank of a lovely stream complete with swimming hole! The tents were spacious and clean, (we even had power!) and Monica was very responsive to any and all questions/ quieres. We will definitely be coming back!

This was an amazing camp site!! I love it love it love it. Have to go again! Bathing in a stream. Wildflowers all around. Donkey calls from the barn at night. Great set up for cooking and campfire. Only thing that would have made it perfect was a grate/grill over the campfire…but we made due. Definitely would recommend. It was worth it for sure.

Little Birds Farm

This campsite is nestled in the deep woods of a 120 acre farm that offers beautiful views coming and going. After being allowed to use the restroom at the stone farmhouse, you will then go rustic and start your 3/4 - 1 mile hike in (approximately 20 minutes to the campsite) past the fields and pond down the path into the woods. The trail is remote and you will instantly be able to leave the sights and sounds of civilization behind you and breath the clean forest air. Wear good hiking shoes because portions of the hike are uneven and rocky. This site is best for experienced campers who know how to pack light with just the essentials as there is no tractor service to this campsite. When you arrive at the campsite, you will be within 20 feet of a year round stream with brook trout and in a hundred foot tall hemlock canopy nestled between two brook meadows. A 9,000 acre forested preserve abuts our property so you will be able to completely relax, bird watch, enjoy the wildlife, or fish for a brook trout breakfast without hearing the sounds of anyone but yourselves. The campsite has a stone fire pit, split log benches for seating, a canvas privacy blind around a stand of trees where the composting toilet resides, and a food bag lift to attach your food and trash bags to about 100 yards from the campsite. Unlimited Split firewood is free next to where you will park that you can take down to the site. All trash needs to be carted out with you. We can't accept mixed trash as it will attract animals that will knock over the trashcans and make a mess. No food goes in our personal trashcans as we have learned this the hard way. Welcome to Trails Head Cabin! Fully renovated a couple of years ago, this quaint and rustic cabin has reclaimed barn wood doors and accent walls hand built by my husband, Rich. The cabin is located on a quiet dead end road, this cabin sits at the head of the Neversink River unique area and offers activities such as hiking, fishing and hunting. There are a variety of bars and restaurants located in the small town of Rock Hill, as well as our local Farmer's Market every Saturday only during the summer months. The cabin is a short trip away from the local grocery store, a five minute drive to Resorts World Casino and Holiday Mountain Ski and Fun Park. A twenty-five minute drive to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (sight of the 1969 Woodstock Festival). OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE: Please respect our non-smoking policy. There is absolutely NO smoking of any kind allowed in the cabin. A $200 charge will be applied if you do smoke inside to cover the additional cleaning costs. No Drugs or illegal activity. No Smoking or vaping. No incense or candles. We always like our guests to know ahead of time that there is mild to moderate vehicle and foot traffic near the hiking trails during the day. As this location has become more and more popular, the individuals who come to hike, bike, fish, hunt, etc. are required to parallel park their cars on the opposite side of the road. However, our property is private and clearly posted, and may only be used by our guests. The cell phone service is very weak when you first arrive at the cabin however, once you are connected to the WiFi you should have capability to call and text. There is downhill skiing at Greek Peak 45 minutes away if you are winter campers. We are 14 miles from Cornell University and 10 miles from Ithaca College. Sacred Waterfall & Quiet Retreat

NOTE: THIS IS A QUIET AREA for reconnecting with nature. Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty and power. It is considered a sacred site that has been central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka, also known as the Mohawks, Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, Kahonrakén:ra Waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into a hidden pool, which then empties again into the river, running into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. The effect is transporting. Truly, it is one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that makes you feel like you are in another world. There are two tiny cabins on the property. Both sites have extra space to set up a tent if needed. The Forest Cabin is insulated with hemp, has electric lights and outlets, is bigger inside with a work desk, Anderson crank out windows, a bigger deck, and two twin mattresses under the bed if you need them. The Wildflower Cabin is a bit deeper in the forest, a little smaller, uninsulated with two walls of old-school wood-pane windows that open out to the forest completely, one twin mattress under the bed and a powerstrip for light electric use. Both sites have private fire pits, solar shower stalls, fans for cooling and an electric heater for chilly nights. It's a 10 minute hike down the gorge to the waterfall from the campsites. Each campsite has a private path down to the waterfall, where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire at your fire pit and fall asleep under the stars listening to the waterfall and the river below. Be aware that the hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Please be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and to keep noise down after 10pm to chillax and enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside that makes Schoharie so special. In the big red barn at the entrance to the campsites there is a community room with a charging station, cold water sink, mini fridge, coffee maker, grills, and a port-a-potty for your use. There are also 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. :) This is a leave no trace site. Please take all your trash with you when you leave. And please bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms with fresh produce and organic meat within 5 miles of the house. There are several farm stands and a general store a few miles away, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, and the Sap Bush Country Store and Café just up the hill in West Fulton. Mustang Valley, a wild mustang sanctuary and rescue center, is just down the road. Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, among many others.

Waterfall Creek

This is a beautiful piece of property located in the heart of the Finger Lakes and Wine Country of NY. It features a stunning spring fed waterfall and nice forest land. Very close to town but also very secluded and private. Great place to unwind and relax from our everyday lives. It is situated however in a gully next to a creek and waterfall so it is susceptible to heavy rains. It is recommended to at least have an AWD vehicle if rainy. I can usually help campers with getting to the site in my side X side if you need to park up at the pasture. Please order enough wood initially as I have found I spend a lot of time delivering extra wood to campers. It seems as if you will typically go through 2 bundles per night on average. Also I supply a contractor size garbage bag to you if you choose garbage removal. It is also a good idea to text me when you have a solid ETA so I can be here to take you to the site. I want to mention that the two sites closest to the waterfall are a slight hike in and can only accommodate up to 4 person tents so if a bigger group or vehicle camping you will be placed at another site. In the 1960s, Llewellyn's love for aviation led him to construct a small airstrip and hangar, and then his son Terry began to plant Christmas Trees (no more cows) and clear much of the land. By the early 1970's our main and largest pond was built and since that time our fully functional cabin, several more fish ponds, roads, trails, running water and generated electricity have been added. Christmas Trees are still grown and harvested by Terry's son Scott Towner. Green rolling hills, deep valleys, a waterfall, ponds stocked with fish, a fully functional cabin, herds of deer, flocks of turkey and Canada Geese, & well-maintained roads and trails here in Addison NY.
