The Campsites at Oak Lodge are located on an historic property in Palenville, New York which once hosted vacation cabins, lodge, and a tavern before it was turned into a private home. It now offers a camping experience in a wooded area with mature trees, but close to several amenities in the hamlet of Palenville. It has easy access to the main road. Each campsite includes a generous space to pitch your tent and a fire pit. There is a communal area shared by both the Bluebird and Barn Owl campsites with a picnic table, drinking water, a small gas grill, hammocks, and a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. There is an outhouse and wash-up area for all campers. The two acres provide both a wooded area and a large grassy space. Although set back far from the road, you will hear some vehicle noise and there are nearby streetlights. Oak Lodge is one mile from Catskill Park trails leading to the wilderness area including North and South Lake. It is between sections 22 and 23 on the Long Path. You are a mile to a wine and spirits shop, and a quaint but hip general store that offers breakfast and lunch. There is a one bedroom cottage also available for rent on AirBnB. See “The Acorn” at Oak Lodge in Palenville, NY. When visiting: 1. Park near the entrance of the main house and use the wagon to bring your gear to the campsite. (Do not park close to the little cottage attached to the rear of the house as there may be guests there.) 2. There are wild animals in the area (raccoons, possums, bears, deer, fisher cat), so be sure to store your food far from your tent (preferably in your car). 3. Potable water will be in a very large igloo thermos at the communal area. Water for washing up is available near the pit toilet. 4. Bring your own toilet paper, soap, etc. 5. There is firewood and kindling available for sale on site. Be sure all fires are completely extinguished before going to sleep. 6. We appreciate you not leaving any garbage, but if you are unable to take it with you, there is a garbage can at the main entrance of the house. Do not leave any garbage at the campsite. 7. Keep all pets near the campsite and do not allow them near the main house or where they might disturb other guests. Clean up any droppings.

Fresh raw milk, local eggs, and maple syrup are available on site for purchase. We provide ample fire wood for your campsite so you have one less thing to pack! This 17-acre site has diverse habitats, from an upland pine and hardwood forest to wild native meadows full of blueberries, asters and milkweed. The most special feature is a large tributary and creek waterway system with areas of wetland. Once choked with invasive plants, it is now a largely restored native plant and wildlife habitat that supports migrating herons, trout, amphibians and clouds of Monarch and other butterflies. In the fall I've seen Monarchs circle up in vortexes from the meadows and take off on their migration. There are several large swimming holes where the creek turns or joins with its tributary. Bridges have been installed over the tributary and over brooklets feeding into it. A lot of care and love is going into this land. Over 500 native trees planted along the creek banks are growing into a forest - you'll see many still in protective tubes and cages. Thousands of native pollinator ground-plants have been planted or sprung up on their own, some like tiny flowering gems on the shady forest floors. The old stone walls running through the property and around its boundaries speak to its history as a farm and an apple orchard. Swimming, hiking, fishing and bird-and-wildlife watching will fascinate you in this dynamic landscape that is constantly coming closer to what used to exist hundreds of years ago and is now reestablishing itself. In the vicinity, there's Tetta's, a deli/cafe/gas station and small emporium with made-to-order pizza, local raw honey, mushroom, crafts, and all kinds of food, pretty much everything you need; it's been in the family for generations. Find it Northeast on Samsonville Road (County Rt. 3) at the junctions of Rts. 2 & 3. There's a hike to a waterfall if you drive a few miles down Upper Cherrytown Road from the end of Sundown Road: you'll see a parking lot with signs for the falls; the DEC-maintained trail is across the road (https://www.catskillmountaineer.com/SD-vernooy-falls-east.html). There's venues nearby along Rt. 209 with local musicians on Saturday nights: places like The Outpost Barbeque, 6611 Rt. 209 in Kerhonkson, Lydia's Cafe at 7 Old US Hwy 209, Stone Ridge. Near Lydia's is a favorite afternoon hang-out, Cherries Roadside and General, which not only has literally hundreds of ice cream flavors, but an excellent, informal restaurant. I can talk to you about many other fun places.

Much history here, with the small town of stone houses, making Hurley a national historic destination. This serene is secluded on a mountain surrounded by trees with seasonal views. No true trails are available, but you can be adventurous and hike further up the mountain, arriving to a clearing, providing you with a lovely mountainous view. From the mountain, you can hike to a waterfall or even hike across a lovely plain field surrounded by mountain ranges on both sides and crossing the creek over to Historic Stone houses in Hurley. Hurley Marbletown Trailhead and Rail trail parking are only a 6 minute drive away! The town of Kingston is about 15 minutes from our site where you will find Bluestone Wild Forest, antique shops, restaurants, other outdoor activities! The nights are just spectacular as you look into the sky surrounded by a blanket of stars, able to see the many constellations looking like jewels on a black cloth. The sounds of nature and all of it's distinct calls including that of eagles, is truly an experience. And we cannot forget our other friendly neighbors, the wild turkeys and deer! We are very appreciative of this beauty and would love to share this sacred place with you. Learn more about this land: Feels like you’re away from civilization but yet close to all the Hudson valley has to offer. 15-20min from Woodstock, rosendale, stone ridge, Rhinebeck, red hook, New Paltz and Mohawnk short 30 min drive. This campsite is nestled in the deep woods of a 120 acre farm that offers beautiful views coming and going. After being allowed to use the restroom at the stone farmhouse, you will then go rustic and start your 3/4 - 1 mile hike in (approximately 20 minutes to the campsite) past the fields and pond down the path into the woods. The trail is remote and you will instantly be able to leave the sights and sounds of civilization behind you and breath the clean forest air. Wear good hiking shoes because portions of the hike are uneven and rocky. This site is best for experienced campers who know how to pack light with just the essentials as there is no tractor service to this campsite. When you arrive at the campsite, you will be within 20 feet of a year round stream with brook trout and in a hundred foot tall hemlock canopy nestled between two brook meadows. A 9,000 acre forested preserve abuts our property so you will be able to completely relax, bird watch, enjoy the wildlife, or fish for a brook trout breakfast without hearing the sounds of anyone but yourselves. The campsite has a stone fire pit, split log benches for seating, a canvas privacy blind around a stand of trees where the composting toilet resides, and a food bag lift to attach your food and trash bags to about 100 yards from the campsite. Unlimited Split firewood is free next to where you will park that you can take down to the site. All trash needs to be carted out with you. We can't accept mixed trash as it will attract animals that will knock over the trashcans and make a mess. No food goes in our personal trashcans as we have learned this the hard way. Can’t recommend this site enough. The tent is large and spacious and was sturdy enough to keep dry during a storm. The nearby swimming creek areas are large enough to fit inner tubes and chairs, which makes for a great time. We brought a large cast iron which fit perfectly over the grill plate (and had grilled brie and apples which was amazing). Tons of nearby sticks and firewood but bring matches or a lighter to start the fire. I’d also recommend bringing a battery-powered fan of some sort in the summer, it got pretty warm in the tent which made it hard to sleep. The outdoor showers are located at Judith’s place 5ish minutes from the campsite so you need to drive there. Over a cleverly designed site and we plan on staying again with friends from the city.

This is a fantastic site. Judith is extremely welcoming and accommodating, and she's done an amazing job with the property. The sleeping arrangements were spacious and comfortable, and we had a great time exploring the trails and swimming holes. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, be mindful of ticks and mosquitos if you're going to venture through some of the ferns and tall grass. Judith was very transparent about their presence and was kind enough to supply some natural repellents that, along with the repellents we brought, kept things very manageable. I'd come back any time, it's really an amazing place to camp.

We had a lovely time camping on Judith's land. The forest has many beautiful trees, ferns, grasses, boulders and the streams were gorgeous. It's tranquil and private. The swimming holes were perfect and we spend lots of time in the water. Location and directions were clear and the place was easy to find. There is a road nearby but it did not bother us much. Probably very related to the season we went but the amount of ticks overwhelmed us and the tent does not keep them out since it is not fully closed, which is great for fresh air though. We appreciate very much what Judith is doing restoring native species and definitely recommend this place (maybe in a different season unless you don't mind dozens of ticks).

Michael and Laura maintain a beautiful property nestled in the Catskills mountains. Camp was full the night we stayed but the sites are indeed secluded and we rarely saw anyone else. Michael was on hand when we arrived to make sure we had all of the information we needed. We arrived later in the day (around 3:30) got settled quickly into the simple a-frame, and had time to make a 3 hour hike up neighboring slide mountain and make dinner on the campfire after returning. We couldn’t believe how few bugs were out for the beginning of July (my boyfriend and I are both native western New Yorkers so this was a nice surprise.) We were able to combine the 2 cot mattresses along with our double camp mattress on top and fold up the single cots for the night with room to stow them in the corner and sleep comfortably amongst the ferns while listening to the hoots of the owls. Thanks so much Michael for the great stay in the woods!

Hosts are lovely and genuinely care about the visitors to this very special place. 5 great camp spots. Plenty of privacy. Very clean outdoor shower. We stayed in the retro Airstream which has comfortable sleeping inside. Enjoy the outside with a nice sunshield, table, chairs, fire pit and 2 hammocks. My bird app identified 11 different species of birds in just a few minutes one morning. Amazing. Loved it.

This had everything my small family wanted - a simple and beautiful vacation. The fireflies add to the magic at dust. I love that it's just 30 minutes from me as well.

The property is beautiful in its simplicity - an abundance of all kinds of plants - a real find and seek adventure of various trees and plants. The swimming hole was perfect for my dogs and family. Truly one of the best experiences I’ve had, words can’t describe the beauty of this area! The cabin was perfect for me and had even more accommodations than I expected! There was plenty of cooking grates, 2 fire pits, a tent spot, and a shower stall to hang the solar bag to shower in private. The walk to the falls was definitely steep so be warned it is not for the faint of heart, but absolutely worth it every time!!! If you’re open to a real genuine camping experience and want to see nature in a pure and beautiful way I HIGHLY recommend sacred falls, you can’t go wrong 🥰

a magical little place! it truly was the closest you could get to sleeping comfortably in a tree. clean and surprisingly not many bugs outside for being on a lake in june. and was very impressed with how screened in the treehouse itself was. great for two people or if you wanted to have a solo getaway. it was such a peaceful experience!

Osa Trail site rests on a secluded hilltop bordering Sundown Wild Forest with SPECTACULAR VIEWS of hills and valleys. You can see all the way to The Berkshires on clear days. At night, it's the Milky Way, so bring your telescope. There is a beautiful "secret" mountain stream waterhole within a 7-minute walk from the tent. Bring your towels. Right along the driveway leading to the campsite there is a shale outcrop, full of fossils, mostly prehistoric leaves and branches, but also occasional Brachiopods - yours for the taking. Bring your cold chisel and a mallet. This campsite is equipped with one Queen-sized bed with a memory foam mattress! Good cell reception at the site. No poison ivy anywhere on the property. It was a cinderblock extension of the cow barn. We took it down and used the foundation for the pavilion.

It is considered a sacred site that has been central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka, also known as the Mohawks, Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, Kahonrakén:ra Waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into a hidden pool, running into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. The effect is transporting. Truly, it is one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that makes you feel like you are in another world. It's a 10 minute hike down the gorge to the waterfall from the campsites. Each campsite has a private path down to the waterfall, where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire at your fire pit and fall asleep under the stars listening to the waterfall and the river below. Be aware that the hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Please be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and to keep noise down after 10pm to chillax and enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside that makes Schoharie so special. In the big red barn at the entrance to the campsites there is a community room with a charging station, cold water sink, mini fridge, coffee maker, grills, and a port-a-potty for your use. There are also 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. :) This is a leave no trace site. Please take all your trash with you when you leave. And please bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms with fresh produce and organic meat within 5 miles of the house. There are several farm stands and a general store a few miles away, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, and the Sap Bush Country Store and Café just up the hill in West Fulton. Mustang Valley, a wild mustang sanctuary and rescue center, is just down the road. Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, among many others.

The Little Witch Cottage is a rustic charming cottage from 1929 with timber framing and Catskill blue stone flooring. It sits in the middle of our yard about 200 feet from our more modern home. We have about 9 acres set back from the road. The cottage has a queen sized bed, dining table, and small kitchenette. The kitchenette has a mini fridge, dishes, and an induction stove top. We recently wired this vintage beauty to run on solar power and has an outhouse with a composting toilet, sink, and heated outdoor shower. Outside the cottage is a small garden, picnic table, fire pit, and chairs. Our land is mostly sloped fields that we are slowly turning into meadows full of native flowers and plants. There are mowed paths through the tall grass. This is perfect glamping spot, a mixture of comfort and nature. We are close to Catskill, NY and surrounded with a mix of beautiful nature and small town fun.

Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven. There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

the locals know our street because of the indigenous people and early Dutch settlers mixing with the slaves. Much history here, with the small town of stone houses, making Hurley a national historic destination. This serene is secluded on a mountain surrounded by trees with seasonal views. The campsite is neighboring 105 acres of beautiful conservatory land available for hiking. No true trails are available, but you can be adventurous and hike further up the mountain, arriving to a clearing, providing you with a lovely mountainous view. From the mountain, you can hike to a waterfall or even hike across a lovely plain field surrounded by mountain ranges on both sides and crossing the creek over to Historic Stone houses in Hurley. Within a 10 minute drive check out some of the local restaurants like Alebrijes, Hickory BBQ & Smokehouse, and the Hurley Inn where the movie “Tootsie” was filmed!. Hurley Marbletown Trailhead and Rail trail parking are only a 6 minute drive away! The town of Kingston is about 15 minutes from our site where you will find Bluestone Wild Forest, antique shops, restaurants, other outdoor activities! The nights are just spectacular as you look into the sky surrounded by a blanket of stars, able to see the many constellations looking like jewels on a black cloth. The sounds of nature and all of it's distinct calls including that of eagles, is truly an experience. And we cannot forget our other friendly neighbors, the wild turkeys and deer! We are very appreciative of this beauty and would love to share this sacred place with you. Learn more about this land: Feels like you’re away from civilization but yet close to all the Hudson valley has to offer. 15-20min from Woodstock, rosendale, stone ridge, Rhinebeck, red hook, New Paltz and Mohawnk short 30 min drive. The glampsite is a yurt with a fire pit and a full modern bathroom just a short walk away. For a small fee, you can also rent our bikes for riding the nearby rail trail or just visit the waterfall 2 miles away. Wood available for purchase. THE HOT TUB IS PART OF A MINI-SPA PACKAGE AAND IS AVAILABLE FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE. Just off the NY Scenic Byway County Route 16, there is tons of space for larger groups. A New York favorite. Greet the morning sun from your tent as it rises above High Peak. Surrounded by the Indian Head Wilderness peaks, you'll enjoy the cool mountain air at night and stunning views all day long. Hike the trails and then dip in the creek when you get back. This campsite is equipped with a single Queen-sized cot with air mattress, woodstove, portable camp toilet, solar heated sun shower. Bring your own bedding/sleeping bags. Drive-up access requires SUV-type clearance for the creek crossings. For easier 2 wheel access check out my other 5-star secluded campsite- Schoharie Creekside Tent. Only a quick drive to Tannersville, Hunter, Windham, Palenville, Woodstock, Phoenicia, Catskill and Saugerties where you can explore the cute town, restaurants, and shops. The site is perched on the banks of the Roaring Kill Stream, perfect for swimming and fishing. There are also lots of flat areas to put additional tents. Great access to the Roaring Kill Trailhead and to the Devil's Path Hiking Trail. If you're looking for some water activities take a short drive to Colgate Lake. Site guidelines Do be careful driving on the dirt jeep track out to the camp. Don't miss swimming in the Roaring Kill Falls. Do leave the campsite just as you found it. "Don't feed the bears." Seriously, do keep a very clean camp. Do ask questions about local activities- swimming holes, hiking, etc. Please take all trash with you, leave no trace!

We have a large newly renovated Pavilion and Snack Shack. Big enough to hold many planned activities and events as well as Live Music Concerts, Weddings, Reunions, etc. Our camp store is stocked with all your needs as well as a full food menu, Fresh Pizza & Boars Head Deli. We have two playgrounds (one being brand new Spring 2024), an arcade room, a sandy beach with a swimming area and a stocked lake for fishing.
