This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby). The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails. IMPORTANT DETAILS: This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling. Queen sized bed - we provide the linens. The driveway is narrow - so nothing in tow. Drinking water is provided via jug and dispenser. There is a brand new outhouse (no flushable toilet) We have a designated spot for campfires (smores are a must) There is an older propane grill outside for guest use

You can also walk the cretan labyrinth, to bring balance. catherdral tin roof cabin has enough space for dinning, entertaining and yoga, it also has a sleeping loft for 2 people, and can be used as a reading nook, bring your own sleeping bags, pillows, and towels and you are welcome to set up a tent on the outdoor camping site. There is a heated full pressure shower, compost toilet and an outdoor sink and cooking station. The site is booked for complete privacy, only one group booking at a time, so you have your own private spot in the woods. There is a fireplace in the cabin with plenty of wood. The floor is mostly nature stepping stones, hand picked from the woods. The cabin is nestled in a moss and fern magical woods with fireflies, owls, deer, and foxes. There are groomed peaceful walking trails. A sphere shaped cooking outdoor fireplace under firefly solar lights adds to the magical experience. There are wonderful activates such as fishing, kayaking (Safari Kayak) and bike trails in the local area. The camp was first built in 1905 by Dr. Goldsmith and family. The doctor and his family used the camp for summer vacations. During the winter the camp was rented out as winter hotel for loggers. Ice was harvested from the pond and stored in what is now one of the cabins. When our family bought the place, the hotel was falling down and the buildings were in disrepair. Geoffrey, the family caretaker, has spent the last few years cleaning up the site. All that remains now of the hotel is the chimney while the ice house has become a cabin and has been improved and ready for visitors. We have a double futon, small wood stove and gas burners for a cozy indoor experience. With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in the small cabin all are included in the cost of booking! Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition. The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible Mid-May to the end of September. There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

Weekend Trip to Dickensen Farm: Cabins & Camping

A perfect Maple Weekend with my two grandsons. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a pack of friendly dogs that made us feel right at home. Our cabin was tucked away down a quiet path in the woods—peaceful, private, and just far enough from the world. There were beds for each of us and table and chairs for playing games and eating. The highlights for the boys were definitely the 'farm chores.' They got to help the owner boil a fresh batch of maple syrup over the open fire and spent hours hanging out with the chickens and collecting eggs. Between spotting deer in the fields and the cozy cabin life (complete with a handy indoor loo for those middle-of-the-night trips!), it was a wonderful rustic experience. We’re already counting down the days until our summer return!"

Weekend Trip to Dickensen Farm: Cabins & Camping

I had such a great experience at Dickensen Farm. I was immediately greeted by the property pawtrol lol, and kept company by two new furry friends nearly the whole weekend. Cabin was a perfect, clean shelter. This one is the closest to the house — but the property is peaceful and quiet. I believe I was the only guest as it was a rainy and cold weekend, and I felt lucky! Walking through the woods and listening to the rain was great; but the tin roof while reading was even better. I am used to camping with my sleeping bag and buddy heater so I was comfortable at night with no problems. Kimberly is a great host. I appreciate meeting kind people. Thanks for sharing your farm!!

Kimberly was very welcoming, her greeting committee (dogs) were friendly and entertaining, and the alpacas were lovely! Cabin was clean and there was plenty of wood around for a fire. Thanks so much!

2 nights at the Goose - Jamink Farm

The cabin was nice and quiet. It stayed pretty warm in the cold weather. Julia and her family were amazing. She was extremely accommodating and made sure that we had everything we needed. The breakfast was fantastic and we ended up doing the farm tour as well. It was cool to see all the animals and it was very thorough. We even got to feed some calves that were born the day before. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at The Goose and we’ll definitely be back.

Such a beautiful place for glamping! Took my boyfriend here since he’s never gone camping and this was a perfect “camping lite” experience. The bed was so comfy and had plenty of blankets for late October - and we also utilized the Mr Heater that was provided and we were plenty warm. Definitely want to come back for more than one night!

Cabin D was so sweet and charming. We watched the sunset over the field and in the morning watched the field brighten as the sun rose through the woods behind us. There was a small heater available, but we didn't use it. The cups, silverware, cloth napkins and coffee and coffee put were a perfect touch. I did bring my favorite sleeping bags (zipped together) so we were warm when we woke up to 36°F in the morning, but I am sure the blankets provided would have been just as cozy. It was so wonderful to be able to watch the world through so many windows. I will definitely be back in the future!

Weekend Trip to Camp TedRock Adirondack Retreat

Camp TedRock is awesome! The site is beautiful, well maintained, and peaceful. There are lots of details that show the care put into the experience, like the extra cot, extra lanterns, a bag of kindling, and hand written notes on nearby mountains and lakes. We would definitely come back!

Kimberly’s farm is nothing short of amazing! The alpacas were adorable. Walking up to greetings from her adorable dogs was the best feeling ever. The cabin was perfect for what we needed with so much land for our own dog to explore. I beautiful sunset views. The firepit and chairs were also a wonderful addition. Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sara & Matt’s cabin! It’s tucked away in the woods and feels private, but it’s still close to downtown Saranac Lake (4 min drive). Make sure you follow the directions provided, Google Maps wanted to bring us the wrong way (do not turn left down Ledge Lane). There are little HipCamp logo signs that help guide the way at the end of the Saranac Lane when it turns to dirt. The cabin was very clean and inviting. It was cold the first night as the cabin is not insulted or have heat, but between the blankets they provide and the blankets we brought we were comfy. Really appreciated having drinking water provided! We will definitely be booking a return trip to this cabin in the future!

2 nights at Runamuk Farm

Such a lovely spot on a farm in the woods! The tiny house had plenty of blankets and a very comfortable mattress so getting out of the bed when it was 36 degrees was quite difficult. Our dogs loved running around the field just off the front porch of the house. Such a joy seeing them be so happy. :) We will definitely be back and hopefully with some friends in one of the other tiny houses.

Only stayed for a quick night in our way up to Maine. But it was easy to find and a cute location! Cabin gets chilly (no insulation) but manageable with a good sleeping bag. Loved playing with the farm dogs, and the eggs were delicious!

Lots of privacy despite being less than 5 minutes from down town Saranac Lake! The cabin is a great middle ground camping experience- no plumbing or electric but you still get the creature comforts of a bed. The blankets provided kept us warm despite low temps in the 40s. Only downside is the solar shower does not heat up when there’s no sun, but we made it work.

Weekend Trip to Outer Space

The RV site was great and felt secluded. There were scenic hikes we could embark on from the site without even getting into our vehicle (we just needed to exit the property via the driveway and walk over to a public road). The RV was clean and we had no issues with any equipment. We did a day excursion to Ausable Chasm which was really cool and it was a short drive. The firewood we purchased from the host was a generous amount and we were allowed to gather our own deadfall as well. The campfire pit was in great shape and overlooked a very pretty marsh. We cooked steaks over the fire one night while watching the sunset and did simple eggs on the cooktop in the RV. It was a great romantic getaway with the missus!
