This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby). The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails. IMPORTANT DETAILS: This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling. Queen sized bed - we provide the linens. The driveway is narrow - so nothing in tow. Drinking water is provided via jug and dispenser. There is a brand new outhouse (no flushable toilet) We have a designated spot for campfires (smores are a must) There is an older propane grill outside for guest use

This is a newly built tiny cabin (10x16 interior) on a secluded 26 acre parcel. This peaceful cabin, nestled in the woods, is the perfect retreat after a beautiful day of hiking or biking. Relax on the deck and read a book or listen to the birds chirp. At night, build a campfire to roast smores or simply star gaze. Feel free to walk around and take in the beauty of this secluded property located just a mile from town.

This fully off-the-grid site offers a rustic stay with some modern amenities. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is a tiny cabin which we may also rent out on HipCamp. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby). This property is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails or biking on the newly established rail trail (which runs from Lake Placid all the way to Tupper Lake). The 2 floor, salt box timber frame can accommodate up to three guests. There is a primary bedroom with a king sized bed and a single bed in the loft space. The timber frame has running water (hot and cold), an outdoor shower, a gas stove and oven, a refrigerator, a large deck, and an outhouse. The primary source of power for the timber frame is solar, with propane for the stove. We do not allow use of the wood stove at this time, but do have an outside fire pit for making s'mores or sitting around and telling stories. Linens are provided. Kitchen is stocked with essentials (bowls, plates, cups, pans, silverware, etc), but not food.

Nice cabin in nature

We loved the cabin and the surrounding area. It really gave us the quiet break we needed. It is basic but has got everything you need. We would've just preferred to know before the booking how many mosquitoes there would be. It is impossible to stay outside, you're instantly surrounded by thousands of them.

We really enjoyed the comfortable off-grid experience offered by the Mt. Baker cabin. Despite the unseasonably cool temps, the hosts provided extra bedding and we had no trouble staying warm and comfy throughout our stay. The location was great with much to do within a 5 minute drive, and access to 30-1 hour hiking and sight-seeing destinations.

Inviting Cabin in the ADKs

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sara & Matt’s cabin! It’s tucked away in the woods and feels private, but it’s still close to downtown Saranac Lake (4 min drive). Make sure you follow the directions provided, Google Maps wanted to bring us the wrong way (do not turn left down Ledge Lane). There are little HipCamp logo signs that help guide the way at the end of the Saranac Lane when it turns to dirt. The cabin was very clean and inviting. It was cold the first night as the cabin is not insulted or have heat, but between the blankets they provide and the blankets we brought we were comfy. Really appreciated having drinking water provided! We will definitely be booking a return trip to this cabin in the future!

Rustic stay in Saranac Lake
Mt Baker Tiny Cabin
Lots of privacy despite being less than 5 minutes from down town Saranac Lake! The cabin is a great middle ground camping experience- no plumbing or electric but you still get the creature comforts of a bed. The blankets provided kept us warm despite low temps in the 40s. Only downside is the solar shower does not heat up when there’s no sun, but we made it work.

An amazing getaway!
Mt Baker Tiny Cabin
My husband and I stayed in Sara and Matt's tiny house the night after our wedding for some relaxation in the woods. It was truly an amazing place to stay that was beautifully crafted and VERY comfortable. The house is minutes from town where we had amazing meals at Blue Moon Cafe and Campfire and did some fabulous shopping. We enjoyed coffee on their porch and while we didn't get a chance to use the fire pit, it is very quaint and picturesque. Their outhouse is also very well crafted and thoughtfully stocked. Thank you for the wonderful stay to start our married life! We can't wait to visit again!

This space has a great vibe & everything you need. Although I didn’t come prepared to make a fire, there is a nice little fire pit with several chairs. I might have stayed up later had I built a fire, but I was perfectly happy climbing into bed not long after the sun went down. The local books & having plenty of blankets made it super cozy.

The tiny cabin was a slice of heaven! Clean, cozy and nestled in the woods! A wonderfully private base camp to explore Saranac and Lake Placid from and “reset” at. I’d highly recommend it!

Best location ever!

This is the optimal location! It was truly 5 minutes from the center of Saranac Lake, yet the dirt road drive up and surroundings make you feel like you're in the center of wilderness. The bed was comfortable and the space was clean, though quite buggy (but may have just been the time of year). Our dogs liked the space too and we were thankful to be able to bring them along!

What an awesome spot! Not to be dramatic, but we really marveled at the details of this little cabin. It’s such a well done design. Very cozy! Convenient location. We’d love to stay again sometime.

A perfect tiny cabin to escape to. The bed was super comfortable and you can hear the little stream from inside. The grill and the water jug were a plus! Everything was very clean and tidy, including the outhouse. Amazing location if you’re bringing pups with you. If you need anything town is so close but yet you’re so isolated. I can’t say enough good things, 10/10 for sure!

I had a wonderful stay at the Mt. Baker Tiny Cabin. It was perfect for my needs. It's very private, with no other houses or camps within view, and no road noise. This charming place was clean and the bed very comfortable. Even in early May, I was able to sleep with the windows open and enjoy the bird song and the little babbling brook. It's hard to believe this place is less than 5 minutes from town. I really appreciated being able to bring my dogs. I will most definitely be booking another stay.

Quiet, Private, Cozy and Clean

This cabin was a lovely place to stay! Very clean, very quiet. It had everything we needed. If staying later in the season, just remember there is no heat and cabin isn’t insulated. We stayed in October and it was about 40ish degrees in the cabin when we awoke, so just a heads up! Will definitely be staying again!

This cabin is so special and beautiful and cozy! We came to run the Lake Placid Classic and also hiked Mt. Baker. The site was so beautiful surrounded by fall leaves, it was perfect. Everything in the cabin was so cute and comfortable. We can’t wait to come back again!

Private Cabin close to town

We loved our time in the tiny cabin. Nights were cold in the 40s but our hosts left extra blankets for us! The trail to the cliffs is so beautiful, and the cabin location is private you can't see any other houses except the host cabin a bit. It's only a 5 minute drive to restaurants and shops in town.

Had a wonderful stay at this Tiny Cabin. The space was minimalistic but so cozy, a perfect "glamping" experience. It was chilly at night but so cozy to have a fire and bundle up in the extra blankets provided. The road to the cabin isn't so bad, just watch for all the deer friends running around :) So close to so many beautiful hikes. Would absolutely recommend and hope to return if we find ourselves back in the area!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 days + this was the perfect location to explore the Adirondacks for the first time for us! The cabin is very close to the downtown area yet feels so secluded. An added benefit for us was the cabin being less than a mile from the rail trail! We loved having no electricity and the hosts include lots of lanterns and batteries. They provided lots of drinking water as well which was super helpful! We loved our stay and would love to come back if we end up traveling in the area again. I do think an outdoor shower in the future would be a huge benefit to the cabin, as it’s a great location to popular hikes and biking!
