I had a wonderful getaway in Robert and Amanda’s cabin. It was just as pictured and described. Their dog was so sweet and adorable. The location was perfect - close to many waterfalls and downtown Ithaca. I can’t wait to visit in autumn!

We loved camping at the ranch over the holiday weekend. We had a nice spacious serene spot where our two 10 man tents that were shaded in the evening, and we got to fall asleep to the babble of the creek. We walked up the creek to the swimming hole and took a wonderful and refreshing dip at the swimming hole where we got to hang out with other fellow hip campers and Dwayne himself! We had an amazing family weekend and made a few new friends. I would definitely recommend this spot for family camping weekends, and my family cannot wait to get back!

Weekend Trip to Tempest Ranch camp

This is the second time my family and I stayed on Dwayne’s land. This has become a new favorite camping location for us. The camp is dog friendly and sites are distant from one another, allowing for privacy but the campers and dogs can all mingle together at the swim hole/creek. There are gorgeous farm animals that are friendly and enjoy eating carrots if you happen to bring some along! Dwayne is an incredibly generous, friendly and approachable host. He genuinely cares about how your camping experience went and makes his rounds to make sure each site is alright! The camp is easily accessible and is about 15-20 minutes from Watkins Glen. Staying at Tempest Ranch Camp is no doubt worth the stay from wherever you may be traveling from. We cannot wait to stay again in the future!

Amazing stay at Tempest Ranch! Dwayne was a wonderful host and so friendly. The farm had everything we needed and then some. Horses, friendly dogs, streams, trails to walk, beautiful fields, a swim hole, a small pond where my teens canoed. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night! All the other campers were really friendly and made the trip that much better. We adventures to Watkins Glen and Ithaca by day but always made it back in time to enjoy the farm life. We will definitely come back and stay when we are in the area! Our campsite was Tipi By The Stream right next to one of the horse pastures. Highly recommend Tempest Ranch!

Beautiful views, close enough to Watkins Glen but far enough so that you don't hear much commotion. Dwayne is lovely and inspiring. The swimming hole I'd refreshing and clean. The symphony of birds every morning was amazing and we saw deer. Can't forget to mention the friendliest donkeys I've ever met live at tempest ranch. Not many bugs for mid summer either! It's a peaceful place, highly recommend to like minded nature lovers.

This was an amazing camp site!! I love it love it love it. Have to go again! Bathing in a stream. Wildflowers all around. Donkey calls from the barn at night. Great set up for cooking and campfire. Only thing that would have made it perfect was a grate/grill over the campfire…but we made due. Definitely would recommend. It was worth it for sure.

We loved everything about staying at the Waterfall Creek Cabin! Ken was an amazing host with great communication! Property is even better than photos can show - waterfalls is so beautiful and only a short distance from the cabin and there is a creek running right beside the site. Cabin had a ceiling fan, tv (which we never used because the property was so beautiful) and a super comfy sleeper sofa. We ordered a couple packs of wood and they were under the covered porch when we arrived. We like to cook all meals over the fire and Ken even let us use his tripod and grate. Ken thanks for a peaceful and relaxing weekend and we hope to be back soon!!!

Awesome little cabin next to a bubbling little creek. I was pleasantly surprised ability to drive right up to the camp site. The best pleasant surprise were three lights; one in the cabin one in kitchen area, and one in the toilet area. These made a huge difference.

We really loved the cabin we stayed in, and in fact all the cabins and sites we saw looked great. The camp and facilities were very clean and Susan was so friendly and welcoming. A huge highlight was getting to run on the outstanding trails every morning, which are right outside the campground. We'd love to stay again!

We had the best time at Camp Whitman! The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. The air conditioners in the bedrooms were so nice to have with the heat. The bed were super comfortable. We enjoyed walking around the camp and fishing in the little pond. Bryan was helpful for anything we needed and only a text away if we had questions or needed anything. We will definitely be back! 10/10 recommend ☺️

Weekend Trip to Camp Whitman on Seneca Lake

Quite a bit off the road and well maintained, quiet cabin located about an 8 min walk from the water. We couldn’t see the lake from the cabin but we could hear the boats. Cabin renters next to us were quiet and friendly. The description is spot on. The cabin had anything we would’ve needed for the overnighter. Sadly no place to swim but it’s ok, the quiet reprieve was a chill ending to a super nice day. We visited local creameries and highly recommend Shtayburne Creamery!!

Cabin in the woods

The cabin is located in a remote area of Bear Swamp State Forest. It is about 5 miles from the nearest paved road but has seasonal roads that take you to the cabin. There are many close attractions like Skaneateles Lake and Carpenters Falls. The Cabin doesn’t have electricity or water but we do have a generator available. We do not have a shower or bathroom but we have an outhouse. We do ask people to bring their own gas if you want to run the generator and woods to make a fire. I highly recommend 4x4 vehicles but I been there in a civic and a mini van.

This is a beautiful piece of property located in the heart of the Finger Lakes and Wine Country of NY. It features a stunning spring fed waterfall and nice forest land. Very close to town but also very secluded and private. Great place to unwind and relax from our everyday lives. It is situated however in a gully next to a creek and waterfall so it is susceptible to heavy rains. It is recommended to at least have an AWD vehicle if rainy. I can usually help campers with getting to the site in my side X side if you need to park up at the pasture. Please order enough wood initially as I have found I spend a lot of time delivering extra wood to campers. It seems as if you will typically go through 2 bundles per night on average. Also I supply a contractor size garbage bag to you if you choose garbage removal. It is also a good idea to text me when you have a solid ETA so I can be here to take you to the site. I want to mention that the two sites closest to the waterfall are a slight hike in and can only accommodate up to 4 person tents so if a bigger group or vehicle camping you will be placed at another site. About the Property: Our unique property boasts quiet camping on a beautifully manicured MotoTrials Riding and Obstacle Play Course. 2025 marks our first year offering camping to the public, and we look forward to HipCampers joining us in our unique venue. We have night lighting to turn on at your request, even if just to sit in the evening and enjoy the lights reflecting off the pond-We surely do! The views and big sky are gorgeous in our corner of farm country. Our small pond provides entertainment w/ turtle sunbathing raft and lots of nature's visitors. About the Trials Riding: We host 6 Mototrial events each season (see below) and if spectating appeals, you can plan your trip to coincide. You're in for a treat if you've never seen these nimble motorcycles do their 'thing'... up, over, and around the obstacles. Events are busy and exciting, but no worries (!) trials bikes are not loud and riders are friendly and considerate. If spectating is not your thing- no worries either. Non-event days are very laid back. On any given day if Trials riders come here (just to practice or instruction with Mike) it's not loud or invasive, nor interferes with any camper training or playing on the course. When riders are here (barring events), it is typically only 2-4 riders at a time. Multiple activities co-exist quite nicely here as there is plenty of room for all. Were 2 miles to the center of Ithaca where their is plenty to do including using the new bike share program and waterfront trails. Come hungry, Ithaca has more restaurants per capita than either NYC or LA.!! WE ARE BOTH PRO CANADA AND LGBTQ supportive :) Were also just 12 min across town to Cornell University and Ithaca College and 5-20 minutes from numerous amazing waterfalls. The available half bathroom is in the main house, just seconds from the cabin and is open to use 24 hrs. there is Not a shower in it, but you can wash up with hot water and soap, hand towels available as needed. if your staying multiple nights and would like to use the shower just let us know and well work out a time. The bunkhouse has 2 twin mattresses in the loft, and several blankets & pillows, but you need to BRING YOUR OWN SHEETS and pillow CASES as you wish. There is good A/C! Firewood is $5 per fire, starters materials included, marshmallows are in the end table drawer! You can select the campfire wood option here or pay in cash in the cabin. Bring your own fire wood and pay nothing. If you need any help starting a fire, we can do that. We have a sweet fluffy orange cat who roams the property. His name is kitty kitty :) He's fearful of dogs, and is wary of visitors since they might be harboring one! Prior to that the land was a working farm.The property hosts a summer camp each summer, but the cottages and cabins are available for group and family rentals outside of this timeframe. Life slows down at Seneca Lake, the largest of the Finger Lakes. Check in to a lakeside campground or RV park, and spend your days cruising the lake, wine tasting along the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, or relaxing at the lakefront picnic areas. Three state parks border the lake, providing plenty of biking and hiking trails, and Sampson State Park also has a boat launch and swimming beach. Spring through fall is the most popular camping season, but campgrounds at Seneca Lake Park stay open year-round, and Watkins Glen State Park also has cabin rentals for winter campers.

Cayuga and Owasco Lakes

East of Seneca Lake, adventurous campers can choose between walk-in sites or enjoy backcountry tent sites in the Finger Lakes National Forest. Hiking trails, wineries, and waterfalls dot the shores of Cayuga Lake. Neighboring Owasco Lake is a water sports hotspot, where boating, fishing, and water skiing are the main activities.
