This was a great place to stay. Just primitive enough, but very comfortable. I loved the frogs. Well stocked with wood, utensils, bedding.
Three things to be aware of:
Horseshit every where on the trails.
Several unwatched dogs. Two of them very aggressive. Attacked me while I tried to put trash in bin.
Only one trash bin next to farm house and guarded by unwatched aggressive dogs.

Dun Roamin' Cabin
My wife, our dog, and I had a wonderful time at the Dun Roamin Farm. The cabin sits on an idyllic, private pond - the porch feet from the water. We enjoyed scenery, bird-watching, canoeing, and falling asleep to the bullfrogs. It was a perfect basecamp for exploring Watkins Glen, the wineries on Seneca Lake, and hiking throughout the Finger Lakes region. Marie was an awesome host and we look forward to staying again soon.

I loved staying in Marie's cabin! It's rustic but had everything I needed for a cozy night. When I arrived, she gave me a tour of her beautiful farm and showed me all the animals. Having the pond right in front of the cabin makes for a very peaceful atmosphere. There are lots of trails to explore, horses to pet and peace and quiet to enjoy. Thanks again for the warm welcome and a lovely stay!

The cabin was exactly what we were looking for. The land was beautiful. The propane lights and wood stove created a charming ambiance. The location was private but not too far from hiking spots and great restaurants. The host was friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for more.

Great spot, I loved looking at the pond and listening to all of the wildlife. I enjoyed the propane lights - it really added to the wilderness feeling. Nice place to disconnect from the world.

My wife and I loved the land and the cabin. The host was amazingly hospitable and gave us a tour alongside giving us suggestions on the surrounding areas. The free firewood was a nice touch too! If you want quiet while still being close to something to do this is the place! But if you want quiet with nothing to do, this is also the place. My wife also loved the horses, which you can interact with. We will definitely be recommending this to others!

A lot of things fell short of the description. There was inadequate lighting outside, if we didn’t have our own flashlight, we wouldn’t have been able to see at all. The description stated we would have potable water waiting for us, but were told to get it ourselves and weren’t shown where to get it. The shower did not have any kind of water or hot water, the host told us to heat the water ourselves, but again didn’t provide any water. We are very happy to learn and have camping experience, but when we asked any questions, we were spoken to with judgement noting that we should try first and not ask. The location was beautiful and has a ton of potential, the cabin inside was lovely, and the host brought us some delicious home-grown treats, but we didn’t feel very welcomed by her words or preparation for our stay. She seemed to hold contempt for her guests both current and previous.

Secluded, private cabin with an epic pond right out front. Cooking over fire pit made for an authentic camping experience! Very warm and cozy cabin, especially throughout our cold and rainy stay. The grill on porch was also excellent. Lovely horses and dogs. Extremely friendly host who was happy to help/answer any questions and concerns. Would absolutely stay again!! Well worth every penny

We loved our stay in this quiet, secluded little cabin! It's the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy nature with its serene surroundings. We loved having our coffee on the porch overlooking the pond and walking around the grounds. The host is lovely and brought us some egg and vegetables from her farm the day we arrived. It's a very close drive to Watkins Glen State park and Taughannock Falls state park which are worth checking out. Would definitely recommend this stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time. The campsite was very clean and well kept. It’s a very peaceful area to get away from busy daily life - we enjoyed just relaxing and listening to the birds and frogs. Our dog had a lot of fun playing in the pond, and there were plenty of options to tie his leash to during our stay. The small barn that you walk past has a few horses that will pop their heads out to watch as you go by, it’s very cute. It is a short walk to the campsite but carts are provided so it makes it much easier to bring your belongings down

Great location and an amazing host. This was our first time camping, and the host was so kind in answering all our questions.

It was everything I wanted. I was greeted with strong hand shakes, fresh eggs and good conversation. I felt home right away. The cabin is rustic, private and tucked away feet from a pond. Lots of action if you’re a bird lover. Red wing black birds and the wind blowing white pines serenade me while the sun rises. Frogs, owls and the breeze serenade me all night after the sun sets. I’ll be back sooner than later.

2nd time staying at the cabin and we had a wonderful time! Marie is very helpful and welcoming. The woods are beautiful to hike and we saw a little fox this time. One of our favorite things to do is to have tea and coffee overlooking the pond in the morning. Absolutely gorgeous! Can’t wait to go back!

What a beautiful property! We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. We did a lot of hiking in the woods. It was so relaxing to sit on the porch and have breakfast in the morning while watching ducks, geese, and possibly a beaver swimming in the pond. We also met some of the people who care for the horses and they were so sweet. The cabin is quite spacious, which was wonderful! The host was very helpful and responded quickly to all of my texts and questions. We will definitely go back and spend more time at this great property!

The property as absolutely beautiful, the cabin is well equipped for winter-time camping. We stayed in the middle of January probably the coldest time of year out there, with adequate wood and experience operating a wood stove you can be warm all night. Area is private and also nearby to finger lake winery’s. Great host who cares about her guest! We will be going back!

This might be the best, quietest, most isolated location for relaxing in NY! The cabin is much more finished and charming than the pics can express. The entire experience, from the first timely and informative text to the last, was spot on. The bed is comfy and cozy with nice linens. The cabin porch doubled the space, which felt ample as we spent 2 cool rainy evenings sitting inside near the woodstove. Clean, well-furnished, well-maintained and clearly loved, this is a great spot. We'd surely go back.

Wow. What la great place and great people. We spent 6 days with Marie and her horses. It was incredible. Whether you're doing the wine route around Seneca Lake or hiking the gorge this was great to come back to and relax. Propane lights provide just enough warmth on 40 degree nights and then waking up to hot coffee on the private lake was incredible. Marie gave us fresh veggies, all of the water and firewood you can use. What else could you ask for. My wife and I usually pitch a tent but this cabin was way better. We highly recommend it. I can't say enough.
Thank you Marie and staff for an awesome experience. We will be back and this time we will not go beyond the cones. 😁

I’ve been floating on air since I got back from my stay at Dun Roamin Farm. Just nirvana, pure joy, and ultra simplicity. The listing severely underplays the quaintness and conveniences. I didn’t expect but was happily surprised to find sheets on the bed and plates in the cabinet. The propane grill was perfect for cooking. The loft was great for my 13 year old to sleep in although they graciously left a cot for me to use just in case.
The propane lamps are great. The wood burning range is tricky for those of us not entirely used to fire setting but we sorted it out easily. There was tons of wood left for us. Wonderful farm animals to coo over and an ultra private spot!
was greeted by a super nice person who showed me around and I didn’t hear or see anyone from there on after. It was like having our own little pond in the forest!
I recommend bringing house slippers as they requested not to wear shoes in the cabin.

This weekend getaway spot was absolutely perfect! It allowed us to unwind both our bodies and minds from the hustle and bustle of the city. We will definitely return to this place. It was truly amazing! The host was fantastic, and the place itself was wonderful. I highly recommend this spot.

Our stay at Dun Roamin far exceeded our expectations. Marie was a responsive, accommodating, and delightful host. The cabin itself was lovely, warm, cozy, fully outfitted with a grill, fire pit (and so much fire wood!), and a comfy bed. But the beauty of the farm was by far my favorite part. My first morning, I woke up at 6am to a mist-covered pond and all kinds of sweet songs from different creatures around: frogs, roosters, birds. I strolled around the farm, saying hello to the various well-tempered ducks, hens, kittens, horses, and donkeys, all against the most amazing orange, purple, and blue backdrop of a sun rising beyond the mountains. An incredibly peaceful and grounding experience. I would have been happy spending my entire visit to the Fingerlakes without stepping foot off the Dun Roamin farm.

I was soooo looking forward to staying in this off-grid cabin and it did not disappoint! The cabin was adorable and rustic and perfect for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend. It was clean and decorated very nicely. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and very well kept. We got to stroll around and explore in the woods and even walk up to see the horses too. It took some getting used to using a traditional outhouse and an outside shower but that was the whole point of staying here. My favorite part was falling asleep in pitch black while the grasshoppers and bullfrogs sung us to sleep. 10/10 recommend this place. The hospitality was also impeccable. We actually got stuck in the mud upon arrival and two of the farmhands assisted in getting us out.

The cottage on Dun Roamin Farms pond was the absolutely perfect place to reset and recharge. It was stunningly beautiful, and even more peaceful.

I loved the "homey" feeling you got the moment we got out of the car. The owner greeted us upon arrival and showed us around. The owner is so welcoming and sweet. There are plentiful hiking trails on property. The cabin and property are very well taken care of. The calm and tranquil property allows for some much needed R&R. We can't wait to go back!!
